The defeat of Upper Moon Four and Five had turned out to be momentous not only for the Demon Slayers but for the world at large.

Rengoku and Shinobu had already accepted the demonification process that Kai had offered them even before the Swordsmith Village incident.

Using his Demon Progenitor Skill, under the Standalone Title of Demon King, Kai had turned them into Demon Moons, letting them use Blood Demon Arts over their Bankai.

The compilation of these two unimaginable, contrasting abilities had allowed the Flame and Insect Hashira to surpass the Resurreccion of the Upper Moons, instantly resulting in their defeat.

Because of their physique, and with every little rise in Kai's strength, the Demons experienced an insanely larger rise in power compared to the Demon Slayers, as the Verse Fusion Timeline's Overall Grade was directly linked to his existence.

That's why, after dealing with Mang Jian, Kai had decided to visit the Verse Fusion Timeline.

There were many reasons for his sudden and brief switching of dimensions, despite the threat of the Order of Immortal Lotus attacking him again.

First, before his excursion to the Fate Timeline, the Verse Fusion Timeline and the Harry Potter Timeline of his Main Mission were unsynchronized.

Where ten days would pass in the Harry Potter world, only one day would go by in the Demon Slayer world.

However, just as he had returned from the Fate Timeline, all such differences between the flow of time corrected themselves, bringing the Harry Potter Timeline in sync with not only the rest of the Multiverse but also with the Primordial Tower.

Ever since then, that event had been brewing in Kai's heart, becoming a bad intuition.

Second, it was Kagaya Ubuyashiki.

With his natural time coming to an end, the storyline Character was destined to die, getting replaced by his son.

Kagaya's presence hadn't mattered much to Kai.

However, after visiting the Fate Timeline, his thoughts had changed, realizing how important figureheads were in the great scheme of things.

But, to prevent the Verse Fusion Timeline from using Kagaya against him, Kai had no choice but to take away his Foresight.

There was only one way to do that — by ending the bloodline curse.

Inosuke adjusted the boar head. "… You… are weak…"

Zenitsu was already half snoring, barely able to listen to the two of them.

Suddenly, his blurry vision landed on a figure, making him jolt. "She's here!"

Tanjiro and Inosuke straightened their spines so fast as if they had spied a demon.

Wearing her official Hashira clothes, Shinobu Kocho walked slowly toward them, followed by Kanao.

Her skin looked pale, almost white. It wasn't because of weakness, but because of her Lower Rank One status, marking her as a demon as well.

As she walked out from the courtyard into the sunlit training field, that whiteness of her skin became even clearer.

And, along with that, the afternoon sun brought another oddity about her to light.

There was a bump on her stomach.

"Already tired, boys?" Shinobu asked, her thin lips carrying a smile.

Before the boys could answer, though, another figure blurred into existence, its feet landing soundlessly on the fence.

"Yo! Kocho! Ain't you looking flamboyant!"

The three boys' heads snapped over their shoulders.

However, the man who had spoken those words had already disappeared.

With the tink of a bell, Tengen Uzui — Upper Rank Six and the Sound Hashira — blinked into existence between the boys and the girls.

"Always thought you had good hips to give birth," he commented, towering over Shinobu. "Glad that you are putting them to use…"

Kanao unsheathed her sword.

"Haha!" Tengen's eyes narrowed. "Wanna fight this god, young lady?"

Shinobu Kocho took a deep breath, a vein throbbing on her forehead.

The demonification hadn't only granted the Hashiras strength, but it had also intensified a few of their quirks.

So, she didn't mind Tengen's excessive boasts.

Ever since the Sound Hashira had become a Demon Moon, the guy had been having a hard time resisting the constant urge to battle.

That the activities of all the demons, including the remaining Upper Moons of Muzan, had, for some reason, lessened didn't help Tengen's case either.

Now, most of the Hashiras were spread out across the country, trying to find the cause behind this inexplicable and unnerving absence of demons.

That did give the rest of the Demon Slayers time to train themselves more.

And the likes of Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu could use a hand to master the Total Concentration Breathing, too.

"Wow…" Tengen praised, seeing the vein on Shinobu's head disappearing. "You didn't snap at me… That's…"

"… flamboyant?"

The word hadn't come out of Tengen's mouth.

It hadn't come out of Shinobu, Kanao, or the boys' mouths, either.

A chill ran down everyone's spines as they realized that someone else had appeared amongst them, with even the Hashiras not picking up on its presence.

Slowly, as their hands went for their swords, the two Hashiras' eyes landed on the man who had finished Tengen's sentence.

Shinobu's eyes blurred, a smile blooming on her face.

Before she could say even a word, though, the Sound Hashira roared, "… Kai!"

Joy, from the depth of his heart, oozed out as Tengen wielded his swords, filling the entire surroundings with chimes of bells.

"Fight…" The Sound Hashira began, before slowly relinquishing the thought. "… Uh-oh…"

Not only Tengen, but even Kanao and the three boys distanced themselves from Shinobu, a purple-colored mist surrounding her, as… the vein returned on her forehead.

Like the Sound Hashira, the demonification had also intensified her natural disposition.

And unlike what she preferred to show, Shinobu Kocho held great anger in her heart, making her prone to snapping at a moment's notice.

"You!" Shinobu hissed, pointing at Kai with her sword. "Out! Go! Never come back!"

Kai's face went blank.

"Four months!" Shinobu continued, the mist thickening around her. "You monster! You dare show your face…"

"I brought a gift…"

"Don't want your gift!" the Insect Hashira snapped. "Go! I will raise our child on my own…"

Kai let out a sigh, moving away from his position. "You calm her now…"

Shinobu, who was about to curse more, suddenly stopped, her mouth hanging open.

Not far from her, the Sound Hashira, Kanao, and the other boys' eyes widened, too.

Tengen stepped forward, the swords in his hands almost slipping out. "… Impossible…"

Shinobu's voice broke. "… Is this… really you… Oyakata-sama…"

Kagaya Ubuyashiki, with spotless skin, faced the two Hashiras with his closed eyes, and… smiled.

As the Demon Slayers cried tears of joy, Kai nodded to himself within.

These were the people who would lead his armies to war one day, becoming the core of his Verse Fusion Bubble after he was done fusing all timelines into it.

For that, they must remain alive, becoming stronger day by day.

Kai's eyes fell on Shinobu's stomach, then.

Unlike his sons and daughters from the Lord of the Ring Bubble, this child was different. Using Biokinesis, he had altered his DNA in the former case. In that way, if an enemy on the level of a Deep One were to use a bloodline curse upon them, it wouldn't affect him in the slightest.

The child within Shinobu's womb, though, was fated to become a Contestant.

And only the greatest of a timeline stood a chance to resurrect in the Primordial Tower.

This child was destined to stand above everyone else in the Verse Fusion Bubble, which wouldn't have happened if Kai had held back.

"I wonder what you will choose to become…" the Emperor smiled. "A messiah… or a demon…"

Somewhere in Japan, within a grand, castle-like labyrinth that was hidden from all perception, a humongous blob of flesh squirmed.

Under the blob of flesh, tens of thousands of demons roared, as if welcoming their god.

A tear ran down the flesh, blood pouring out, flooding the wooden floors and drowning the demons.

Simultaneously, figures began appearing around the blob of flesh, their strength surpassing that of Hashiras by miles.

They were the true Upper Demon Moons!

Together, all the Upper Ranks, other than Upper Rank One, knelt.

From the tear in the blob of flesh, a figure slithered out, drenched in blood, and… holding a smile on its lips.

The figure lifted its head and looked up, as if it could see the entire world outside.

"Fool…" Demon King Muzan said, the bloody smile on his lips widening. "… You think… the child will have a choice?!"
