A few hours earlier....

Raven Blackthorn was currently sitting on her office desk, her paperwork forgotten..

She had a foolishly beautiful smile on her face, the smile so bright, so warm, so beautiful, it brightened the entire atmosphere within her office..

Unfortunately for the world, no one was there to witness such a divine visage..

The reason for her happiness? Or course it was

"MY DANTE~~~~"

She cooed, her cheeks flushing..

"He trusts me....He trusts me the most...hehehehehe" she giggled, like a maiden in love who had just been told she looked stunning by the man she loved...

Her current appearance unlike anything those familiar with the Bloody Rose herself had ever witnessed..

As she drifted into her own world, daydreaming about things not so safe for the mind, a sharp buzz brought her back to reality..

"What is it Clarissa?" Her voice came out cold, hard..

Clearly displeased that someone had dared interrupt her "Dante time"...

An urgen voice came through the com, it’s message wiping the cold look from Raven’s face..

"It’s Dante, Rave, Dante’s dungeon has mutated!!" Clarissa didn’t dare dawdle, knowing what the consequences were should her delay cause any troubles..

Ravens expression immediately changed, panic coloring her face as she turned pale, almost collapsing from her seat..

"Haaa...haaa...haaa..."

"Cla..Clarissa..."she was hyperventilating...

"I’ve already sent the girls, but you know how mutated gatee behave, rave...." She stopped..

It was no secret.

Mutated dungeons were inescapable death traps..

The monsters within became significantly more powerful than their designated level..

And depending on what the cause was, things could easily go from bad to worse..

The only way to escape? Kill the dungeon boss.

She was aware of Dante’s system, she was well aware that he wasn’t normal by any means of measurement, but at that moment, her heart didn’t care..

"Haaaa...my daughter... where’s Melissa?" She stuttered, hurriedly trying to get up, she staggered, almost falling down again..

"I’ve already informed her, she’s on her way, but I don’t she’ll be here in time, she’s well over half day out" came Clarissa’s voice...

"Damn it all Clarissa" came Raven’s reply, her tone returning to cold as she vanished from her office, she didn’t bother taking her car. With her level, it’d take a few seconds at most to get there..

"Clarissa, I don’t care what happens, should anything happen to Dante, I’ll make sure this whole place burns" her voice was hard, worry, fear, anxiety, rage, all mixing into one pot of worrying emotions..

Raven arrived at the site a few moments later, her gaze immediately settling on the swirling red portal..

She had half a mind to outright tear through that dungeon, with her "powers" forget a measly E-rank dungeon, even if it were an SSS-rank mutated dungeon, she could still tear through it easily..

But her presence within that dungeon would make it collapse instantly, dooming any chance dante had of making it out of there...

"Damn it" she gritted her teeth hard enough to causing creaking sounds..

Her palms balled into fists so tightly she drew blood..

"D, please, please be okay...please I beg of you" she whispered in her heart, her eyes warming, she was on the verge of tears from the amount of worry gripping her chest..

"Is that...

"Oh my god, she’s so beautiful...

"Shhh... that’s the guild leader of the Bloody Rose guild, keep your voice down.."

The noises around her were muted into background nonsense..

Her whole attention focused on the swirling red portal...

She didn’t even register when her guild members called out to her...

Further away from Bright Sun City...

"Damn it, Damn it... Damn it all"...

Melissa was currently tearing through the air as she made her way back towards the city..

Her speed not anything a "mere A-rank" should have any business coming close to having...

"Just when I decided to go finish my assignment, something like this happens?" She was in tears, her beautiful face marred with anxiety and worry as she pushed herself with all she had, trying her best to arrive as fast as possible..

Aunt Clarissa had just called her and told her to abandon whatever she was doing, that Dante had been trapped within a mutated gate..

She didn’t need to hear anything else, her face turned ashen grey, bloodless..

She abandoned her mission, and was now trying her best to get back home as fast as she possibly could, she didn’t even care to hide her true strength anymore..

"Mother is too powerful, she can’t get in without killing D, Damn it, FASTER GOD DAMN IT!!!!!!" She pushed, pushed, till her blood started dripping from the corners of her mouth, clearly a side effect from pushing her abilities, she ignored it..

"D, don’t you dare die on, not after this, not after all this!!" She was a mess, her tears refused to stop even as she pushed herself to the breaking point, her wings beating so fast they tore through the atmosphere...

Back at the site..

It had already been over 2 hours...

Over 2 hours of agonizing uncertainty..

Every minute that passed without an update saw Raven’s heart sink further..

Her face had turned devoid of any blood, her teeth were chattering, her body was trembling like a leaf caught in a wind, she looked just a hairs breadth from collapsing..

She would’ve already collapsed in fact, if not for her guild members holding her steady, but even that had it’s limits...

"Dante...No....please...don’t leave me.. please Dante..." she whispered, brokenly, the tears now coming freely as her heart threatened to stop..

Just as her body swayed, about to collapse..

Crack!!!

A deafening crack resounded..

All eyes snapped towards the portal..

Raven hadn’t shifted her gaze since arriving, she noticed the crack before it even sounded out, her eyes lit up..

"Please...please....please..."

She pleaded to anything out there that her baby be returned to her...

Crack!!!

Craaack!!!!

The cracks spread through the portal until finally.

Booom!!

It exploded outwards, with it, two figures were hurled out of the collapsing dungeon..

Raven had already moved before anyone could even try to recognize the figures..

"Danteeee~~~~~" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

She immediately took hold of him, burying his head in her ample bosom as her tears spilled freely, this time of joy and relief..

"Thank you...thank you...thank you...." She muttered, holding him tightly, almost as if afraid he’d vanish again...

"Mmmhhmmm" subconsciously, his body hugged her form as he buried his face even deeper, her warmth enveloping him..

Raven just sat there, her heart finally resuming its rhythm, her tear stained face filled with nothing but pure relief and joy..

Whilst all around her, the crowd had gathered around the second figure, only to be stunned at what they saw..

"Wait...that doesn’t look like a goblin...

"It couldn’t possibly be...

"Is that a...

The questions kept pouring out, confusion and fear, but Raven didn’t care, she couldn’t be bothered to care. Not at that moment, because...

He was alive..

Her Dante was alive..

That’s all that mattered..

That’s all that’ll ever matter..
