Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension-Chapter 6 - 5:Talk With Aunt V
DINGGG!!
I didn’t look at it, nor did I think about it. I decided to save the reveal for when I was alone and free. Almost as if it sensed my intent, that sound just lingered, a calm presence assuring me that I wasn’t mediocre. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Letting the thought settle, I climbed off the stage with a newfound pep in my step and a small smile creeping onto my face. But just as I was about to walk away, Michael and Cara appeared, almost as if they were eager to enjoy my despair. The crowd parted for them like the Red Sea.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" Michael sneered, delight evident in his voice. "I told you, by the end of the day, we’ll see who laughs last." His arms tightened around Cara’s waist as he continued, "I’ve got the best talent, the best bloodline, and the best girl. Do you see the difference now?"
"Fufufufu, don’t tease him too much. Wouldn’t want to hurt his ego!" Cara laughed, a sound that echoed like an unsettling melody.
For a fleeting moment, I couldn’t help but feel disheartened by the stark contrast between this "Cara" and the comforting one I had known since my transmigration—the one who left me that letter, the one who had been my source of warmth just the night before.
Was it truly all just a game of interest? Were feelings that easy to fake? Did she feel nothing for me at all? It was an unsettling sensation, as if everything about her felt "wrong," like this wasn’t really who she was.
"Whatever, I guess," I shrugged, moving past them, keeping my expression neutral.
As for Michael using his newfound powers to bully me? Well, my beautiful Aunt Raven was still a powerful SSS-rank that even his bum of a father had to consider. So, for now, I was still golden.
But as I walked away, a flash of disappointment flickered in Cara’s eyes. I must have been imagining things...
The event concluded with nothing else of note. I had faced my embarrassment, received my cheat—whose purpose I still didn’t know—but all was well.

At this moment, I stood in front of the school gates, phone in hand, about to make a call that might shatter my heart into pieces. We all know the trope: big potential that ultimately turns to trash, leaving everyone, even family, to toss him aside.
I was about to break the news to my lovely Aunt V, and, honestly? I was scared. If even she turned her back on me, I didn’t think I could handle it.
As for revealing my cheat? Considering I didn’t even know what it did yet, how could I truly understand her feelings for me? After all, it’s only at your lowest that people reveal their true selves.
Taking a deep breath, I dialed her number. It rang once, then she picked up; no time wasted—that’s my Aunt V.
"Sooo~~ what did my little Dante get? Tell me, tell me, SSS right?" she exclaimed, her enthusiasm palpable.
"Hehe," I laughed sadly. She caught on immediately.
"What’s wrong, D?"
That tone—the worry, the concern—gods, please don’t let her push me away. I didn’t want to lose her, not for anything in the world.
"It seems the universe took my joke seriously, Aunt Raven. I got an E-rank support talent."
....
The line fell into a haunted silence for a few seconds. My heart slammed against my chest, dread crawling up my spine. But before I could spiral into despair, I heard rapid shuffling from her end. "Where are you? I’m coming over now!" she spoke quickly, urgency thrumming in her voice.
"Aunt V, wha... what are you doing?" I stuttered, at a loss for words.
"I know how mean and vicious people can be with words. You must be hurting right now; just wait for me at the gates. I’ll be right over." The worry and care in her voice were thick.
She didn’t care about my talent. She didn’t care about my so-called ’wussy support future.’ All she cared for was my well-being.
If you keep being this loving, Aunt V, it’ll be impossible to extricate myself, I thought with a fond smile, my heart filling with warmth that made the atmosphere seem almost pink.
"No need for that, Aunt V. Just focus on your work," I said, trying to calm her, to diffuse her "mama bear" instincts.
"Work can wait; you can’t," she retorted with certainty. I could hear the office doors opening.
"I’m serious, Aunt V. As long as I know you’re by my side, I’m good. Don’t worry," I reassured her. "Besides, didn’t we agree that I’d be your sugar baby if I awakened something trashy?" I laughed, and that seemed to settle her down.
"Hihihihi... this rich lady will be sure to spoil you plenty!" she giggled.
A comfortable silence settled between us.
"Are you sure you’re fine?" she asked, seeking affirmation.
"Other than my girlfriend tossing me aside at the first chance she got? I’m peachy," I replied, my tone brightening.
"Humph! I never did like that Morningstar girl. Good riddance!" came her sharp retort.
"Hahahaha... yeah, good riddance!" I laughed, genuinely amused.
The silence stretched comfortably between us.
"I love you, Aunt V. I really do; I hope you know that." My words carried more weight than intended.
I didn’t know if she caught the depth in my voice, but the line went quiet for a moment before she replied, "I love you too, D. Just take care of yourself, okay?"
"I will. We’ll talk later, yeah?"
"Of course! We need to start planning your sugar baby role! Fufufu," she laughed.
"Alright then, later, Aunt V."
"Later, little Dante."
The call disconnected, and my heart felt lighter than it had since my transmigration. My Aunt V wasn’t going anywhere, and that was almost better news than the arrival of my cheat.
With a renewed pep in my step, I decided to walk back home, taking the time to clear my head.
**********
What should have been a 15-minute ride turned into a full hour walk, but I enjoyed it; the outside air felt like a warm escape.
After all, despite my attempts to mask my feelings, it was jarring to see those who had once smiled with me turn so vicious in a blink..
Shaking off the thought, I opened the door to my apartment.
"SURPRISE!!!!"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DANTE!!!!!"
