Chapter 252 249: A armor better than cursed artifacts!
Some hours later, Gruul finished crafting the armor, which was meant for Eliana.
Sitting on the throne of bones, Val looked at it and cast detect.
[Armor Details]
Name: Fortified armor (3-stars)

Effect No.1: Epic Rune of Adjustment

Effect No.2: Epic Rune Of Shielding And Reflection
Description: This unique rune allows the armor to block both magical and physical attacks thrice per day. Furthermore, it has the incredible ability to absorb the damage from each blocked attack. This absorbed damage accumulates in the rune and can be unleashed at the wearer's discretion.
Effect No.3: Skin-like rune
Description: This is a rune with a passive effect. It allows the armor to overlaps with the wearer's skin, causing it to not only appear no different than the wearer's own skin but also weighs the same.
'Amazing!'
Val nodded appreciatively as he looked at the armor details.
The thought crossed his mind that he had never encountered an armor quite as exceptional as this one. The artisanship and the variety of effects embedded into it were astounding.
It pushed the boundaries of what was possible and transcended the armors that could be found in the Victoria kingdom. Even his own Aegis of Light, which he had always considered a formidable piece of equipment, paled in comparison to the Celestial Aegis
In his eyes, it was a masterpiece, far surpassing anything he had ever seen.
Basically, it wasn't just better than a rank-2 cursed artifact; it could arguably be compared to those at rank-1.
A rank-1 artifact was a treasure that could turn the tide of battles and define the destiny of its wielder.
Having something comparable to it was beyond valuable. Eliana would feel greatly indebted to him when he gives her this.
'He truly is a master of his craft,' Val complimented Gruul in his mind.
Val's admiration for Gruul was genuine. It came straight from his heart. After all, Gruul had taken the materials provided and elevated them into something beyond extraordinary.
"Here you go, master," Gruul said, offering the meticulously crafted armor to Val with a sense of pride in his work. 𝘣𝑒𝑑𝘯𝘰𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝑜𝘳𝘨
"Thanks for your hard work. I really appreciate it," Val graciously accepted the armor from Gruul and carefully stored it in his void orb.
"I only accept appreciations in the form of soul shards," Gruul said, his devilish face breaking into a hideous smile that was overflowing with greed.
"I don't have any on hand at hand for you, but if I find some in the future, I will reserve them for you," Val made a promise to Gruul. He did it because maintaining a good relationship with his most loyal subordinate was beneficial to him.
"I would be most grateful if you do," Gruul replied, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
Val waited patiently for the first light of dawn to pierce the darkness before finally stepping out of the shrine. He reappeared in a secluded area hidden behind the Serpent's Mirage.
'Now all I need to do before I can return to the frontier is advance my White Devil Disciple class to Level 3 using the bloodline upgrading potion.'
'But… I need to change location first.'
His breakthrough would trigger what was known as a "heavenly tribulation" - a cataclysmic test from the universe itself.
The intensity of this event could be so great that it had the potential to destroy the immediate surroundings.
Basically, if he were to attempt this breakthrough within the boundaries of the Serpent's Mirage or in its proximity, the heavenly tribulation could annihilate it.
Should that happen, it would undoubtedly attract the attention of the wizard community. Those wizards, experts in tracing magical disturbances and anomalies, would initiate a rigorous investigation to find the root cause of such devastation. If their inquiries led back to him, Val was uncertain about the extent of the fallout, but he was sure it wouldn't be minor. The repercussions could stretch far beyond just him. The Destiny Walkers might also be forced the consequences of his actions.
All in all, attracting negative attention from the influential but secretive wizard community could prove disastrous. It was a risk he simply couldn't afford to take, for himself and for those he had decided to stick with to survive and grow in these umcertain times.
Thus, Val decided to change his location like a good boy, not daring to be reckless and damage other people's property.
A while later, Val began ascending a cliff that was miles away from his previous location.
The slope of the cliff was dotted with trees that seemed to burst forth from the earth as if in a bid to touch the sky.
The sight looked quite magical, enough to put one at ease.
The atmosphere was calm, almost serene, but Val knew better than to let his guard down in such an environment.
Woof!
As if on cue, with a bark, a dog-like beast leapt out from behind one of the trees, its eyes locked onto him and its jaws wide open, poised to strike.
Now, Val had been on alert since he started climbing the cliff, and his REF stat was above 40 points, so he was able to react to its surprise attack in time.
With grace rivaling the wisest of gods, he took a single freaking step to the side, smoothly evading the creature's lunge. With its intended target now out of reach, the dog-like creature's jaws snapped shut on empty air, leaving it bewildered.
Pa!
Not missing a beat, Val lashed out with his hand, delivering a solid slap to the beast's face.
This slap was akin to the strongest physical attack that an intermediate-level warrior could muster.
The consequence of his slap landing on the beast's face was so tremendous that it did more than just send the beast hurtling through the air; it literally yanked the soul out of its flesh, extinguishing its life in an instant.
With a thud, the beast's lifeless body plummeted to the ground, and a notification popped up, telling Val about the rewards he had gained from slaughtering the beast.
However, what he gained was almost negligible, so he overlooked it and moved on, continuing with his climb.
