Chef at the University Canteen-Chapter 392 - 252: It’s Just a Meal, That’s All_3
Duan Yiming understood immediately that although he was willing to "cut the flesh," clearly they were not interested in his small company.
Saying that he needed to recuperate was just an excuse; anyone with a brain could understand the meaning behind those words.
However, though it was regrettable, Duan Yiming had nothing to complain about.
After all, he had been rotating among several top-tier internet companies, not just as a regular programmer but having held positions like technical department head and research and development director. It was entirely normal for him to not be interested in a small company with just about a dozen R&D staff.
"Alright then, Mr. He, just focus on taking care of your health because health is the true capital of revolution!"
Thinking about this, he smiled warmly and said generously, then continued,
"It’s almost lunchtime now, and Mr. He has come all the way here, so I must fulfill my duty as the host. Today, I’ll take Mr. He to a nice place!"
Upon hearing this, He Zhengyu quickly stood up from his seat and politely said,
"Oh, President Duan, you’re so busy; there’s no need to trouble yourself!"
"Trouble or not, no matter how busy my work is, I still need to eat!"
Duan Yiming laughed heartily and said to him,
"Mr. He, you really don’t need to be so polite. It’s just a meal. Wait a moment, I’ll call two friends to accompany you!"
He Zhengyu, hearing this, couldn’t say anything else.
President Duan was right; it’s just a meal anyway. It’s impossible that after eating, President Duan would force him to stay in the company?
Just think about this, and you’d know it’s impossible!
So, He Zhengyu sat down at ease and glanced around at this small company that had been established for only three or four years.
Indeed, as Duan Yiming thought, he didn’t want to linger in such a small company; he hoped to achieve something in a top-tier firm.
Otherwise, he might as well not work in this industry.
As for money, he’d worked in big tech companies for over twenty years; did he still lack money?
As he was thinking these things, Duan Yiming had finished his phone call and looked up at him, calling with a smile:
"Mr. He, let’s head down. My two friends have already gone ahead."
Saying this, he got up, grabbed a bag, and walked out from behind the desk.
Seeing this, He Zhengyu also hurriedly stood up, and the two graciously walked out the door, then directly headed downstairs.
After getting in the car, Duan Yiming gently drove out of the entrepreneurial park and headed towards Jiangzhou University.
He Zhengyu thought that since Duan Yiming was inviting him for a meal, they would go back to the city. That way, he’d save on transport when going home.
Unexpectedly, the car drove in the opposite direction of the city after leaving the entrepreneurial park, becoming increasingly desolate the further they went.
If it were a young girl instead of He Zhengyu, she’d probably be panicking, screaming for Duan Yiming to "stop the car!"
Who knows if he might take her to a remote place and sell her off?
"Mr. He, we’re heading to the university district in Jiangzhou; the new campus of Jiangzhou University is there."
Noticing He Zhengyu looking serious in his seat, Duan Yiming chatted while driving, saying,
"You see, the entrepreneurial park is next to the university district. For the company, the students in this district are our reserve technical talents.
I’ve already started planning that once the company grows a bit more, we’ll use Jiangzhou University as a base to recruit outstanding students from all university software development programs in the district.
By then, the company will regularly host entrepreneurial competitions, software development contests, and other events at various universities, attracting outstanding graduates with attractive offers."
"President Duan certainly has vision and courage!"
Surprised by Duan Yiming’s introduction, He Zhengyu turned to look at him and nodded, saying,
"This approach not only allows the company to absorb fresh blood but also maintains its vibrant vitality.
The key is, training newbies in-house may take more time, but their alignment with the company is undoubtedly stronger than that of employees recruited mid-career."
"That’s exactly the point." Duan Yiming nodded with a smile.
As they continued chatting along the way, the car soon arrived at the gates of Jiangzhou University.
Duan Yiming instantly spotted a white sedan parked beside the gate, with He Xiaowei leaning against the car door, squinting and puffing away.
He turned the steering wheel, driving the car over and rolled down the window to shout at He Xiaowei:
"Xiao Wei, don’t just stand there stupidly; let’s go in."
"Oh, oh, coming."
Upon seeing Duan Yiming arrive, He Xiaowei quickly puffed on the cigarette twice, tossed it to the ground, stubbed it out with his foot, and hurriedly got in the car to follow along.
It was close to noon, nearly twelve o’clock, and the Seventh Dining Hall had already started operations. The hall was bustling with people and activity.
A long queue extended from inside the dining hall, through the doors, stretching far outside.
Seeing this scene, the newly alighted He Zhengyu was stunned:
