Chapter 15: Luck Stat

'This may come in handy' Jayce thought to himself briefly.

Another thing that he had yet to consider, was if he could receive permanent stat boosts from the same item/power up or if it was limited to once. The only problem was, he didn't even know the chances of his skill activating.

The VIP15 skill's description said there was a small chance of it activating, which was as vague as you could be. He had a suspicion that the chance of activation would also be linked to his luck value.

Now that he thought about it, his Luck value was significantly higher in this life. There was not much known about this attribute in his previous life, at least general knowledge wise.

Some believed it impacted the percentage of drops from monsters whereas others believed it was directly related to one's fate and karma.

In Jayce's experience, Luck was too fleeting and enigmatic to rely on. His other stats were more tangible, directly relating to his strength and therefore ability to survive.

Not that it mattered that much, considering there was no way to increase the stat, at least through conventional means. There were rumors of players obtaining items such as Ring of Luck and certain trinkets that could raise one's Luck by a few points, however he had never seen these before.

In an ideal world, he could increase his Luck stat with his stat points, using all of them to increase his chances of converting his temporary buffs into permanent ones. Not only would it greatly benefit himself, now that he had received the Executive Chef skill, any skill boosts or buffs he had, would be shared with his faction.

Just imagining the infinite amount of boosts he could have, without even having to fight on the front lines caused him to grin widely. However, the next moment he shook his head. It was better not to fantasize about such things.

But… There were a few things that had changed since his last life. He had reason to believe that there could be things that weren't possible before but could be possible now.

He brought up his status window, and narrowed his eyes.

Jayce sucked in a sharp breath of air. 'Holy crap!'

Not believing his eyes, he furiously rubbed them before taking a look once again. However, what greeted him was the same as before. After blinking a few times, he smiled with satisfaction.

For the first time since he had been assigned the Chef class, he actually felt optimistic. His VIP15 skill, paired with his upgradeable Luck attribute, and ability to produce foods that could give him stat boosts, he saw a path to the pinnacle of this world.

Like a gamer who had found an exploit, Jayce's body was filled with excitement. If he could steadily stack up attribute boosts, then he wouldn't have to worry about his class possessing any combat skills. After all, he could always acquire skill books down the line.

Jayce finally snapped out of his reverie, feeling more than a few sets of eyes on him. He looked around the room, seeing the inhabitants of the shelter looking at him expectantly.

'Shit, I forgot I was about to instruct them.' 𝑏𝑒𝘥𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝘭.𝑛𝘦𝑡

Clearing his throat, he once again addressed the room, "Separate into your classes, we will be using your new skills to gain some familiarity." he said.

The group nodded and began to split up as directed. As Colin had said, there seemed to be more than half that were swordsmen, with the next highest being mages.

Jayce wasn't sure if he was just imagining it, but it seemed that there was an invisible connection between him and these people. As if a thread of fate was tying them together.

He raised his eyebrows in surprise, this was a similar feeling to his previous life when he had been a member of a party. Perhaps this was the faction function that the system had alluded to earlier.

He instructed Jackie and Colin to take care of the Mages and Guardians, sending Lianna with Jackie as she was technically similar to a mage class.

Before he walked over to the swordsmen, he quickly addressed the Archers, giving them instructions of how to activate and train their starting abilities. Thankfully he was well versed in the main classes, due to his years of hunting as a party.
