Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer-Chapter 314: The Land Of Giants
Chapter 314: The Land Of Giants
Four months later...
Adrian stepped out of the portal and onto a new floor, ready to conquer it as well. But the moment his feet touched the ground, he felt an odd sensation. A sensation of being tiny, like an ant.
He knew things would be like that, but even then, he hadn’t expected to be awestruck by the sheer size of everything around him.
The trees towered into the sky, their trunks as wide as city buildings. The leaves were massive, each one large enough to use as a boat to cross a river.
As for the grass, their usual ankle-high length now towered over him like buildings. Everything in front of him had grown to gigantic proportions.
"Well, this is different," Adrian mumbled.
He had been climbing the tower for nearly five months now, moving from one floor to the next. Conquering whatever challenge that was thrown his way.
But the eleventh floor was something else entirely. The air, the scent of earth and leaves, and the distant sound of creatures moving through the forest. Everything was familiar, yet strange at the same time. It felt like the whole place was alive, watching him, judging him.
"So, this is the land of giants," he whispered.
The eleventh floor. He had heard stories about it from the players on the lower floors. However, none of them had anything good to say about it.
People knew the eleventh as the Quitter’s Club because it was the floor where many gave up. It was a place where the weight of an impossible task crushed the dreams of countless adventurers.
The trial here was simple in theory, but nearly impossible to execute. To clear the floor, one had to either kill a giant or gain the acknowledgment of one of the seven giant clans living on the floor.
The idea of killing a giant was laughable. The giants were immune to the penalties that the tower imposed on others; they were in their domain here.
Rumour had it that a single giant wielded the strength of a ranker on the twentieth floor or higher. Even if someone managed to land a hit on them, it wouldn’t be enough.
The giants were nearly invincible in this place. As for gaining their acknowledgment, that was just as difficult. The giants saw humans as nothing more than insects, unworthy of their time or respect. They only acknowledged those with power, and most mortals simply didn’t measure up to their standards.
But there were those who had a hard time winning over the Giants, but they did. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any information about how they did it.
Since those who made it to the next floor had to swear not to reveal how they did it, most new players couldn’t figure out how to pass the floor and move forward.
Adrian, however, wasn’t like most mortals. He wasn’t intimidated by the challenge before him. If anything, it excited him. He was there for a reason, and he wasn’t about to let some oversized brutes stop him from climbing the tower and defeating the gods.
But that wasn’t the only thing bugging Adrian.
"Olympus has been quiet since Bellerophon’s attack," Adrian thought as he made his way deeper into the forest.
It was true. Despite everything he had done, despite the enemies he had made, Olympus hadn’t made a move against him in months. It was suspicious, to say the least.
Adrian knew they weren’t the type to let things go so easily. For them, their ego was as important as their lives and Adrian didn’t expect them to stay quiet after he had killed Bellerophon. But surprisingly, they didn’t seem to care about it in the least.
Even so, Adrian knew better than to trust the silence. They were up to something, planning something, but he did not know what.
However, that didn’t mean he would wait for them to make their move. Instead, he would try to get even stronger so that he could head-to-head with the Olympians. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
"First, let’s focus on clearing the floor."
He pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind. He had more immediate concerns to deal with. The eleventh floor would not clear itself, and he couldn’t afford to get distracted.
His goal was to find one of the giant clans, but he knew it wouldn’t be easy. The forest was vast, and the giants loved their secrecy. They didn’t just wander around waiting for challengers to find them. But it seemed his luck was shining.
As he walked, the ground beneath him trembled slightly, and he paused, listening carefully. There was a distant rumble, like the sound of thunder rolling across the sky, but there were no clouds, no signs of a storm.
Adrian narrowed his eyes, trying to pinpoint the source of the noise. It grew louder, closer, until he realised it wasn’t thunder at all. It was footsteps—heavy, powerful footsteps, shaking the earth with each step.
"Giants!"
Adrian dashed off the path, hiding behind one of the trees. He pressed his back against the rough bark, holding his breath as the footsteps grew louder and louder. Whatever was coming, it was huge, and it was getting closer.
Seconds later, a giant emerged from the forest, its enormous body crashed through the trees as if they were nothing more than twigs.
The giant was easily over fifty feet tall, with skin as tough as stone and eyes that glowed with an eerie blue light. It carried a massive club, dragging it along the ground as it walked.
Adrian watched in silence. The stories he heard about the giants on the lower floors didn’t do them justice. The sheer size and power of the giant were awe-inspiring, and for a moment, Adrian couldn’t help but doubt himself.
Just then, the giant paused, turning its head slightly as if it had sensed something. Adrian held his breath, wondering if the giant knew he was there. But after a moment, the giant continued on its way, its footsteps growing fainter as it moved deeper into the forest.
Adrian slowly let out a sigh of relief. He had seen his target, but now he needed to come up with a plan. But for now, he hid himself and followed the giant, hoping it would lead him to its clan.
