Oblivious to all that was going on with Lucien, Alden was walking towards the principal’s office.

Even if Jeremy had said he could take his time to visit.

Alden wanted to get over it already.

Not many people were in this direction.

Only a few.

Alden looked behind him.

Why is she following me?

Ever since he had left the hall, Nyx had been right behind him.

Is she going to the principal’s office too?

Or

Has she also fallen for my good looks and is stalking me?

FK again, my narcissism is surfacing.

The more Alden tried to suppress his narcissistic personality, the more it emerged.

Maybe I should just accept it quietly.

Thinking such, he increased his pace.

He soon arrived near the building in which the principal’s office was situated. The building was grand, and two guards stood outside.

Alden took out his student ID.

The guards verified it, then stepped aside, allowing him entry.

Huh? No trouble.

It seems Jeremy had already informed them of my arrival.

Nobody was allowed to enter the principal’s office without a prior appointment after all.

He walked through the hallway as he finally reached the door to the office.

He took a deep breath.

Let’s see what Jeremy has in store for me.

He knocked on the door slightly.

A smooth voice responded almost instantly. "Come in."

Alden pushed the door open and stepped inside without hesitation.

He saw Jeremy seated on a luxurious chair behind a grand table. The office was lavish and adorned with many artefacts.

Jeremy looked like the picture-perfect image of a prestigious academy principal—dignified, calm, and unreadable.

Alden’s gaze calmly scanned the room for a while before he looked at Jeremy.

But the next words of Jeremy shattered his calm demeanour as he couldn’t help but react.

"So, Alden."

Jeremy’s lips curled into an amused smile.

"How would you like to become my disciple?"

What now?

That was the last thing he expected to hear. His cautious instincts immediately flared to life.

Fck, it’s worse than I thought.

Alden knew where this all was going.

He knew this scenario. It happened in the original novel as well.

Jeremy had offered Zephyr, Lucien, and Amyra to be his disciples. Because he considered them the perfect vessel for him.

He wanted to gain their trust, and he had succeeded in that as well. Lucien trusted Jeremy before he was backstabbed by him.

Alden barely stopped himself from clicking his tongue.

It seems I can’t avoid it anymore.

But he couldn’t just reject it outright.

He needed to be careful.

Before he could respond, however—

Click.

The office door opened again.

Alden turned to see a familiar black-haired, blue-eyed girl walking in without a hint of hesitation.

Nyx

What’s she doing here now?

And why did she enter without even permission?

She walked forward like she owned this office, ignoring both him and formalities.

Alden’s brows furrowed slightly.

She didn’t even knock.

She didn’t even acknowledge Jeremy.

Jeremy didn’t look surprised by her entrance either.

Is she perhaps related to the principal?

Alden’s mind connected the dots.

So, she’s not just some random academy student after all.

He had already theorised that Nyx could be somehow connected to principle just from how she used space element abilities.

Or is she involved in all this?

Jeremy leaned back, his smile widening slightly.

"Ah, perfect timing, Nyx."

Nyx glanced at him, then at Alden, her expression impassive as she didn’t care about either of them.

Jeremy gestured toward her.

"You two haven’t properly met yet, have you?"

"Allow me to introduce her officially—Nyx, my disciple."

Alden’s expression remained neutral, but his thoughts were racing.

…So she’s his disciple.

But he found it suspicious.

The way she carried herself, the lack of respect for formalities. This wasn’t just a teacher-student relationship.

There was something more going on here.

Fck, just another mystery…

Jeremy didn’t say anything else about Nyx as he continued to his previous question.

"So what is your answer, Alden?"

Silence stretched between them.

What should I do?

Should I refuse?

No, I can’t outright refuse him… It would be too suspicious.

Should I accept?

No, that would put me too close to danger.

He can’t decide on any of the options, as choosing either would only bring in problems.

Jeremy, however, looked at Alden’s face in amusement.

’Most of the students wouldn’t have even taken a second before accepting, and he is thinking so much…he is too cautious.’

’He is definitely interesting… and it seems he is hiding a lot of things.’

Jeremy didn’t press Alden anymore. He just smiled, as if already knowing Alden wouldn’t give an immediate answer.

Jeremy finally spoke again, his voice smooth. "There is no need to give immediate answers.

"You can think about it slowly and take as much time as you need."

"You can go back now."

Jeremy dismissed him as if done with what he had to say.

Alden didn’t stay any longer as he exited the office at once.

He was still in danger, but at least he bought himself some time.

Jeremy and Nyx were left alone in the room.

As soon as Alden left, Nyx’s expression twisted.

She was annoyed. She had lost to Amyra without even being able to resist.

But she couldn’t reveal her emotions in front of anyone, so she suppressed them, but now that Alden was gone… She didn’t care about suppressing them anymore.

"Find all the information you can about Amyra and her powers." She ordered Jeremy in a cold voice.

"Yes, Miss," Jeremy responded with a nod.

Nyx clenched her jaw.

Her teleportation had been blocked by Amyra somehow.

There were many techniques that could stop teleportations.

But how could such advanced techniques exist on this world?

She took a deep breath as she calmed herself down…

’It’s probably because most of my strength is sealed. That had to be it.’

She tried to convince herself that her loss was only due to her strength being sealed.

But still, Amyra’s skills were undeniable to her.

I have to recruit her into the clan somehow.

She didn’t feel anger for being defeated; it only fuelled her desire to recruit Amyra even more.

After she sorted through her thoughts, she turned back towards Jeremy, who stood there silently, not daring to interrupt her.

"What was all that talk about making that fool your disciple?" Nyx asked in curiosity.

Jeremy smiled.

"That kid has a potential miss." Jeremy continued, "Moreover, it will help with the mission."

"I am planning to make the same offer to Lucien, Amyra, and Zephyr. That way it will help you keep an eye on them without arousing suspicion."

Nyx thought for a while.

It was indeed a good idea.

She nodded.

In a dimly lit basement few hooded people sat around a circular table.

"Boss, are we really going to attack?" One of the hooded figure asked.

"Yes, we got the order from higher ups." The boss answered.

"But boss, won’t it be difficult with just us?" Another hooded figure asked.

"Don’t worry about it, a disciple is coming to help us.." The boss answered in a quiet voice.

"A–a D–disciple?" The figure who had just asked the question was shocked by the revelation.

The boss didn’t know care about the shock of his subordinate as he continued.

"We will attack in a month and our goal is to capture Amyra Celestrian."
