Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!-Chapter 451: Comparison
"Seems like a good proposal." Sasha Shaw touched her chin and raised her eyebrows.
Nirvana and Metamorphosis were initially always bound together. During this time, both have had their own moments of popularity, supporting each other through difficult times. Naturally, there are many stories to tell.
Friends often avoid doing business together because a small mistake can lead to losing both business and friendship.
Ruby Sullivan thought that many people would be curious about her relationship with Sasha Shaw. So, she called Dragon Girl from Sasha’s office to ask if she was interested in creating a joint feature about the two of them.
Dragon Girl tactfully said that the idea of deep friendship between two women is less captivating to the public than the drama of them turning against each other. She wanted to focus on the relationship between Ruby Sullivan and Ethan Sterling.
Because the public perception of their relationship barely supports them saying "I love you," a display of affection, if not pretentious, warrants questioning why.
Viewers prefer rumors over clarifications. Dragon Girl thinks this is an opportunity for Ruby Sullivan; if she doesn’t seize the moment to reveal a bit of truth now, there’s no telling when the next chance will come.
"I’ll think about it then."
"I’ll only give you one more day."
"Alright," Ruby Sullivan said and ended the call.
Sasha Shaw patted her shoulder, encouragingly said, "Dragon Girl has been in this industry for over a decade. Listening to her isn’t wrong."
"But I’m a bit scared," Ruby Sullivan spoke honestly in front of her close friend, "It’s not easy being with Ethan Sterling now; I’m terrified that L might suddenly turn against us and expose that matter, which no one can stop, especially since the kids are mature now, I’m afraid it will affect their impression of me as a mother."
Her voice softened, and even speaking of her vulnerabilities like this made her feel terrified.
Sasha Shaw hugged her, "Dear, I know the feeling, but this decision is yours alone to make. I want to tell you, even if L reveals it, it should be him who feels ashamed, not you."
Ruby Sullivan sighed deeply, resting against her embrace, still without an answer.
She left work early and went to The Sterling Group.
She didn’t call Ethan Sterling in advance, but because of past experiences, she called Snow when she arrived at the ground floor lobby.
"Mr. Sterling is on a video conference with his second son. I’ll notify you once it’s over," Snow settled her in the lounge area and brewed her a cup of coffee.
As she sat there, she suddenly heard a commotion.
Outside the CEO’s office, Snow held out the aggressive Hannah Jennings, saying reluctantly, "Miss Jennings, Mr. Sterling is in a meeting right now and can’t see you."
"Fine, I’ll wait till he’s done!" she said, crossing her arms in front of the secretary’s desk.
Snow pondered, feeling it inappropriate to let her go to the lounge, given her special background; having her sit with Ruby Sullivan seemed even worse, so he stood up and stayed with her outside the office.
However, while Hannah Jennings casually surveyed the area, she spotted Ruby Sullivan and let out a cold laugh, swinging her arms as she marched toward Ruby.
Snow helplessly closed her eyes, pretending not to see what’s happening, yet forced herself to open her eyes and hastily follow after.
The last time Ruby Sullivan met Hannah Jennings, she was a gentle lady; this time, she seemed like a raging shrew, feeling that anger is a frightening emotion. Ruby realized she must manage it well in the future.
"Did you do the thing to Leah Bennett?" Hannah Jennings demanded fiercely.
Ruby Sullivan smiled, "Who are you?"
Hannah Jennings froze, "Ha! That trick doesn’t work on me, Ruby Sullivan. I’m telling you, Leah Bennett is my good friend; she stood up for me and told no lies. What do you think you are? You’re defaming her, I can sue you for slander!"
Ruby Sullivan listened in confusion, but from her words, she thought of someone. She had really forgotten about the matter since it happened so long ago.
But she didn’t want the other party to notice she remembered, "What are you talking about? Did you forget your medication today? Snow, please call security to deal with this."
Snow smiled sweetly, curious if the boss’s wife sincerely said that or was just trying to pass the buck.
Hannah Jennings was so furious with Ruby Sullivan that her face turned blue, and she turned to glare at Snow, "You dare!"
"If you continue causing such a commotion and disrupting work, I’ll need to call security," Snow said with a smile, seeing Hannah Jennings awkwardly press her lips together, adding, "Mr. Sterling’s meeting is about to end; you can wait over there." She pointed to the lounge area.
Having seen each other and argued already, it shouldn’t be a problem to sit together for a while, right?
Hannah Jennings unwillingly glared harshly at Ruby Sullivan, sitting further inside a spot where she could see Ethan Sterling’s door, ready to get the latest update.
Ruby Sullivan continued sipping coffee, browsing the news on her phone as if nothing happened earlier.
Snow felt relieved that the tension between the two hadn’t escalated and went about his tasks.
Afterward, Snow went in three times under the pretense of delivering documents to confirm, each time raising his tablet to Ethan Sterling, who shook his head, indicating the meeting hadn’t ended.
Nihona’s precision and caution, though qualities Ethan Sterling very much values, sometimes lead to unnecessary project delays, which frustrates him. Business is business; no matter how much he appreciates detailed craftsmanship, he doesn’t like it more than money.
The conference call lasted over an hour, and after it ended, Ethan Sterling immediately called Snow to ask if anything had happened.
She didn’t dare let both ladies in at once, quickly dropping the phone and rushing into the office to explain.
Ethan Sterling hadn’t expected both to come at the same time, "Let them in."
"Alright," Snow agreed and sighed in relief, accompanying the two ladies into the CEO’s office.
A moment later, betting started again in the secretary room.
"Who’ll come out first?"
"Of course, Hannah Jennings; Mr. Sterling is with Wenny now, I don’t think Hannah Jennings matters."
"Wenny may be attractive, but Hannah Jennings is young, has long legs, and comes from a privileged family, I think she stands a chance."
The female colleague scoffed at the boys’ wishful thinking, "Superficial creatures, missing the essence. In the face of a woman’s charm, youth is merely an embellishment and can’t alter the truth.
Inside, after entering, Ethan Sterling stood up from his seat, looking at his wife, saying, "She’s not getting along with Stella Jennings, right?"
"Yes, not only that, President Hayes is trying to bully Stella Jennings."
Hannah Jennings frowned, "What are you two talking about?"
Then, Ethan Sterling directly switched to the internal line, "Arrange security; there’s a mad woman in my office."
