Clan Building System: I'm not the Protagonist?!-Chapter 362- Prodigy [2]
"I’m so sorry! I’m so sorry!" she rushed forward, her voice filled with genuine concern. "Are you okay?"
Du Juan swallowed, sweat beading at her temples.
"I... I’m fine, Matriarch," she managed, though her voice was strained.
But Lin Zhaoyue had already moved past her, leaving Du Juan frowning and confused, and turned to look at her.
On the ground a few steps away,
Du Xiao lay collapsed, barely conscious.
Her small body trembled faintly, face pale.
Didn’t she return earlier? Why is she here?
Shock flashed across Du Juan’s face.
But questions could wait as her sister’s well being came first.
Without anymore hiccups she was already moving, robes sweeping behind her as she dashed toward her sister.
"Sister!"
"Shhh, let me check on her."
Lin Zhaoyue crouched beside Du Xiao and gently took the girl’s wrist between her fingers and slipped her spiritual qi into the meridians.
A brief silence settled over the courtyard.
Then Lin Zhaoyue exhaled softly.
"She’s fine. She just fainted from shock."
Du Juan let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding.
Her knees gave slightly as she sank down, carefully lifting her sister into her lap.
She brushed the girl’s hair back, her fingers trembling faintly.
"I sent her back earlier," Du Juan muttered, confusion clouding her voice. "I don’t understand why she was here..."
Lin Zhaoyue’s lips curved into a grin.
"Let me be her mentor."
"Huh?" Du Juan blinked, utterly caught off guard.
Lin Zhaoyue’s eyes gleamed with undisguised interest.
"She learned how to walk in the void after seeing me do it just once. Just once! Do you understand what that means?" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Lin Zhaoyue’s eyes shone with a dangerous light, excitement barely contained beneath her composed exterior.
Du Juan stared at her, stunned.
"Walk... in the void? What do you mean walk in the void? Isn’t that forbidden territory? That’s not something you can just learn! There hasn’t been a single record of anyone capable of that aside from the previous Clan Head!"
Her voice rose despite herself.
The void was no child’s playground. One wrong step and a body would be shredded by spatial turbulence, erased without a trace.
Lin Zhaoyue merely smirked, utterly unbothered.
"Heh. He’s just a beginner. Our family ancestors had tons of information on how to walk the void. Although now, it’s seen as a myth."
Her tone carried faint disdain, as though she were speaking of something trivial rather than a lost art feared across generations.
"Ah... how unfortunate. I didn’t even get the chance to bring up our family heritage and offer it to him. I completely forgot about it."
She laughed softly, almost regretfully, though there was mischief dancing in her eyes.
Du Juan could only look at her as if she were staring at a monster wearing a beautiful face.
Lin Zhaoyue slowly turned her head, meeting Du Juan’s gaze directly.
The playful glint faded, replaced by something far more resolute.
"Entrust your sister to me."
There was no coercion in her voice, yet it carried absolute certainty, like a decree already decided by heaven.
She rose gracefully to her feet, sleeves swaying in the breeze.
Her shadow stretched over the unconscious girl as she looked down at her with a predator’s satisfaction.
NO! It was with the pride of someone who had discovered a rare treasure!
"I’m going to make her the strongest."
The air around her seemed to grow heavier, as though even the wind acknowledged her ambition.
Her gaze drifted toward the distant mountains, a faint, almost tender smile touching her lips.
Oh, my husband... just you wait. I’ll make sure to raise a strong clan for you to return to and rule over.
Meanwhile in the upper realm, Fang Yuan remained seated for a long while, his gaze fixed on the golden interface hovering before him.
The system’s golden light reflected in his eyes.
[ Faith Points: -159,000. ]
His fingers tapped lightly against the armrest.
"Do I actually have to start a cult in this realm and farm faith points?"
With a flick of his sleeve, the golden screen dissolved into particles of light.
He stepped out onto the terrace to see the barren hill stretched before him, wind rolling across the dry earth in low whispers.
The sky was wide and pale, empty.
He narrowed his eyes, stretching out his arm, recalling the sensation, the surge of authority, the crushing weight of belief gathering at his command when he had obliterated that beast.
That moment when the world itself seemed to bow.
As he reached for it there was no resonance but instead a familiar mechanical chime echoed in his mind.
[ You cannot use the power of faith as you’re in debt. ]
He let out a faint breath and lowered his arm.
"At least that means it isn’t gone," he muttered. "Once I settle that debt... I’ll probably be able to use it properly."
Just as he was about to relax, a streak of movement tore across the horizon like a fast, decisive blade cutting through the wind.
The aura was sharp, unrestrained, and it was approaching directly toward the mansion.
"Isn’t that..."
He leaned slightly forward, watching the silhouette grow clearer with each heartbeat.
"The senior sister who came asking about Master’s whereabouts?"
The figure landed lightly before the terrace, robes snapping once in the wind before settling around her frame.
It was indeed the senior sister.
Her brows were slightly drawn, her expression composed yet carrying a trace of urgency.
"Junior Brother," she called as she stepped forward, "Elder Zhao was nowhere to be found where you send me. I searched through the entire city. Perhaps you were mistaken about where she went?"
Fang Yuan turned toward her, hands clasped loosely behind his back.
"Perhaps I was wrong," he admitted smoothly. "Master has always been... unpredictable."
He paused deliberately, then added with a faint smile, "But I do have good news for you. Master is currently with the Sect Leader. You’ll meet her eventually."
The senior sister’s eyes flickered with mild surprise, then steadied.
"I see," she said after a moment. "Then I will wait here."
Fang Yuan nodded once. "As you wish."
Without further explanation, he turned and began walking toward the side path leading down from the mansion, clearly intending to leave her to her patience.
"Junior Brother."
Her voice stopped him mid-step.
Fang Yuan paused but did not turn immediately.
"Yes?"
This time her voice sounded different.
"I have yet to ask about you."
"Where are you from? What is your cultivation realm," she asked calmly.
"And why did you send me towards the Vile Phantom Sect?"
