Clan Cultivation System: Each Breakthrough in My Clan Earns Me Rewards-Chapter 42: Vassals’ Strength (Unlock - with Coins!)
Following the standard and usually safe route, the hunters left their village and entered the wilderness.
Snow rose to their knees, the temperature fell sharply, and everywhere they looked was white.
Trees often dropped clumps of snow, and some even bent under the weight.
The group’s scout went ahead to find potential tracks.
Shen Taofeng explained, "Claw marks, packed snow, blood, fresh scat, and faint traces of their bestial Qi we’re sensitive to..."
Shen Liqian listened attentively, nodding at each detail he learned from Shen Taofeng.
His last words brought a smile to Shen Liqian’s lips.
It’s believed that humans and beasts are sensitive to each other’s Qi because of how different we are... but there’s much more to it, at least for us.
Soon, the first beast came into view, innocently skipping across the snow. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
It was a Frostwhisker Hare, about as tall as an adult man.
It skipped with so much strength that the snow exploded at its paws.
The beast was also one of the fastest types the Shen Clan had faced throughout its history, so not much was known about it.
Shen Taofeng turned to Shen Liqian.
"It’s difficult to catch them, as most of our traps are useless against them.
"Their long ears twitch whenever someone approaches them, too.
"It’s really difficult to catch those hares."
Shen Jixian raised his hand.
"May I try, then?
"Those Frostwhisker Hares’ tendons are the best ingredient for our clan’s bowstrings.
"Bows with their bowstrings are a rarity and passed to the best hunters...
"And I broke those bows recently..."
In his pursuit of the perfect weapon for his new cultivation method, Shen Jixian burned his clan’s best bows.
It was quite awkward, but Shen Liqian had his back.
He meant that those tendons were most useful to archers, so an archer like him should be the one to take them down.
Shen Liqian and Shen Taofeng nodded.
Shen Taofeng added, "You must be fast as it’s already skipping away."
As soon as his eyes landed on Shen Jixian, however, Shen Taofeng knew that his advice wasn’t needed.
The young man had already taken a shooting stance, even though he didn’t wield a bow.
Orange flames coalesced around Shen Jixian’s hands and converged into a flaming bow with an arrow already nocked.
Shen Jixian didn’t need to draw the bow and simply fueled it with his Qi and intents.
He let his arrow go, and it hissed quietly.
Its speed drew a blazing trail in its wake before lodging in the Frostwhisker Hare’s head.
The flames exploded, and the beast dropped face-first into the snow.
The clean kill stilled the group for a breath.
Quick, simple, and efficient.
Well done, Jixian.
Shen Liqian was all smiles upon seeing his friends’ prowess and effectiveness.
Shen Yiren nodded with brotherly approval.
On the other hand, Shen Taofeng’s group was shocked.
"The hare’s ears didn’t even flinch, right?"
"I didn’t see... it happened so fast."
"I was following the trail of fire... so I missed this detail."
Their steps lightened, and the cold felt easier to bear.
Shen Liqian chuckled.
"The hare didn’t know how it died.
"I believe it’s safe for Jixian to pick up the corpse, right?"
Shen Taofeng nodded.
"Yes!"
On their way to the carcass, Shen Liqian asked his friend, "Archer Intent... and Fire Intent were behind that arrow, right?"
"Yeah, I comprehended them naturally while cultivating," Shen Jixian replied proudly.
"Have you tried alchemy?" Shen Liqian asked.
"Ah, not yet..." Shen Jixian replied, scratching his head.
"I think you could do well with your Fire Intent in alchemy and maybe comprehend something new.
"My mom will surely lend you her cauldron.
"It’s worth checking out alchemy."
"I will find time after this hunt!" Shen Jixian replied, smiling.
He then stored the hare’s carcass in his Storage Ring.
Shen Taofeng and his group quickly buried the bloodstains with snow.
They also tossed in a small sprig of Scentless Branch.
The hunt continued.
Since Shen Jixian had drawn blood first, he carried on shooting his arrows and turned the hunt into a comfortable trek.
So far, only he and the scout were working, while the rest learned from Shen Taofeng’s explanations about various beasts.
It was then that an Ice-Vein Boar appeared on the horizon.
Its size and tusks made the open ground a bad place to fight.
This time, the beast noticed the group first, its cold blue eyes shining like crystals of ice.
Like its name suggests, the beast had ice veins running across its white hide, similar to Earth Qi Veins.
Its glacial tusks were the size of thick thighs and could freeze its prey to death.
The beast itself was massive enough to topple humans and even larger beasts.
"Mine," Shen Yiren said as he stepped forward.
He never looked as amiable as Shen Jixian or Shen Liqian, so a single word from this sharp-eyed young man was enough to take control.
Of course, Shen Yiren turned to his lord and asked for permission.
Shen Liqian nodded.
"Go."
He moved with the certainty of a man who had already chosen the outcome.
Immediately after receiving the go-ahead from Shen Liqian, Shen Yiren took off with a loud explosion.
He ran like a bull, his spear tightly grasped in both hands.
The Ice-Vein Boar responded to his challenge, running at him with far more natural ease, even outpacing Shen Yiren.
Then an invisible power pulled at its front legs and raised them forward.
In this awkward state, Shen Yiren launched a fast thrust that pierced through the boar’s head and completely drove his spear’s edge into the flesh.
He then switched his grip and hauled the beast over his head!
Skewered on his shaft, the boar in its last moments tried to shake its glacial tusks and somehow reach him, but it simply couldn’t.
Worse, Shen Yiren’s blade began digging even deeper into its skull.
For outsiders, it looked like the beast was sliding down the shaft to completely skewer itself on Shen Yiren’s weapon!
Blood fountained across Shen Yiren’s cold face, where an even more callous smile formed.
Shen Taofeng and his friends were awestruck by this display of raw strength and unknown technique!
"He didn’t even get numb hands after meeting the boar head-on."
"How is he driving it even deeper?"
Shen Liqian stared ahead with a faint smile, and so did Shen Jixian.
It’s Yiren’s Spear and Gravity Intent.
He pulled at the beast’s front legs, seized his chance, and completely pierced through it in a display of raw strength and might.
Well done, Yiren.
How could Shen Liqian not be all smiles?
His vassals were damn strong!
