Clan Prosperity Starting With My Servant Girls-Chapter 288: From Where he Came From
"I’m willing to do anything for you if you let me have the chance to join your clan." The young Dark Lord knelt at the guards of a Clan begging to become one of them.
"Get out of here you filthy beggar!"
They smirked and shouted at him instead.
He didn’t move away as it was his only chance to salvage his family.
His father had angered a cultivator, and the pettiness of the cultivator destroyed whatever farmland his father had.
Vowing not to stop until his father was forced to sell his sisters and him into slavery.
They were going hungry and no one dared to help his father, in fear of being marked by the cultivator instead.
The young Dark Lord saw no other way out.
And the only solution for him to stop a cultivator was with other cultivators, or become one himself.
But it was a naive thought.
The guards after shouting at him saw that he didn’t move and they proceeded to rain down punches on him.
"Please, I beg you, let me cultivate..." He held onto the leg of one of the men and begged.
But there was no mercy from them.
They didn’t stop and their blows went even harder.
Crack.
Bones crunching could be heard but the young Dark Lord didn’t let go.
Passersby couldn’t bear to look when his body was flung to the side like a ragged doll.
His eyes slowly closed while he felt the warmth leaving his body.
And to make it worse, it started drizzling.
He gave out a cough and tried to glance at the skies.
Droplets of rain hit onto his face.
And when they landed on the wounds that were on his face, he felt intense pain.
Aren’t they supposed to help the poor and needy?
Aren’t they benevolent immortals?
Aren’t they the ones to uphold justice for the rest of us?
After getting so many resources from the Da Qian Dynasty, do they even care a little for us?
Many thoughts went through his head while his blood pooled beneath him and pain coursed through every inch of his body.
His doubts began to turn into anger when he thought about how it really was for everyone else.
Cultivators got to have all the spirit stones, gold and silver, in the name of them having to cultivate and protect the Da Qian Dynasty from harm.
But it seemed to him that these cultivators were the ones harming everyone else.
Thoughts about what his family was going through came into his mind.
Smiling faces of his younger sisters came into his mind.
The young Dark Lord knew that he couldn’t give up on them and let them suffer a fate that would be worse than death.
He would get rid of the cultivator in any way possible and after that, he vowed to build a new order out from the old.
...
A ghastly worm wriggled out from the Dark Lord’s arm and disappeared back into it.
The Dark Lord stopped his reminiscing and glanced at Lu Ting and Huo Fei Li again.
He gave out a sigh and asked, "What do you think of being a cultivator?"
His stare at them was colder than before.
"Being a cultivator?" Lu Ting pondered for a moment and glanced at Huo Fei Li.
She was clueless as to what the Dark Lord wanted to hear.
Huo Fei Li was just as clueless as she was and he shook his head at her.
All he could think of was the best route to escape and that was, if it was even possible.
His father had gifted him some precious artifacts before he came searching for Lu Ting here in Hong Feng City.
But he wasn’t sure if they would be enough to deal with the strange man in front of him.
Damn it. He cursed silently.
He was supposed to help Lu Ting gather the Spirit Herbs and go back with her happily together.
But now...
Things went awry and yet, he didn’t know what to do.
His life in the Huo Clan was taken care of since his birth and he didn’t need to worry about anything.
And now, the downside of it was apparent.
Huo Fei Li saw the anxiousness and worries in Lu Ting’s eyes and he knew he had to do something quick to get them out of this fix.
"As a cultivator in a big clan, I feel privileged having the best masters and resources.
"They are the best in the land and few are their match.
"But though I’m still young, I know that getting stronger is only part of being a cultivator.
"There are things that a cultivator will not give up easily.
"I vow to protect those that I care for when they are in need or threatened."
Huo Fei Li gave out his young master’s idealistic take on being a cultivator while subtly hinting to the strange man that he had the backing of a huge clan.
Hoping that the strange man would back off.
He glanced at Lu Ting, then at the route where they came from, hinting to her to get ready to run.
Lu Ting nodded her head and got ready.
But before they could do anything, the man burst out in laughter.
He brushed his long black hair and nodded at Huo Fei Li.
"It has been a long time since I heard someone being so idealistic."
Huo Fei Li’s speech reminded him of Lee Yi Hong.
But Lee Yi Hong’s vision was even more idealistic in comparison.
He wanted a world where the cultivators would be subjected to the same laws as everyone else, giving up their resources and privileges.
Which was something that even the Dark Lord knew was impossible.
But the Dark Lord admired people like him.
To be so idealistic in the face of all the corruption and cruelty when he suffered through most of his life, Lee Yi Hong was someone exemplary even to him.
As for Huo Fei Li, the Dark Lord figured that Huo Fei Li’s ideals might crumble at the slightest setback with him coming from a privileged background.
Protect those who you care for? The Dark Lord didn’t mind letting Huo Fei Li come face to face with reality and see if he could still have the same resolve by then.
He placed his fishing rod down by the side and stood up.
It would be a warm up for him before he went into the secret realm and at the same time, a small payback for those powerful clans in the Capital City.
