Chapter 198: Chapter 164: It’s Impossible Even If You Think About It!_1
[Message read.]
The trending topic didn’t impact Feng Yi much, and with so many things happening every day, it wouldn’t be long before few people paid attention. His group with Steve, lacking media coverage and exposure, wouldn’t stir up much discussion afterward.
By the time Feng Yi finished watching those videos, photos, and comments from netizens, the trending topic had changed.
When Feng Chi sent him the link, the screenshot showed the topic "Brother Se" at number one. But when Feng Yi checked out the information and clicked the link, the "Brother Se" topic had already dropped to the tenth spot on the trend list. After browsing various content and refreshing again, it fell several places more.
This was only because it was nighttime in China and many topics hadn’t picked up traction, which allowed the topic to surge to that position and stay there slightly longer. Otherwise, even if it had risen to the forefront, it would have quickly been suppressed by other topics.
For Feng Yi, the number of topics or how hot the discussions were didn’t matter much; he wasn’t on the path of a celebrity now. He felt it was more practical to spend the time used keeping up with trending topics on catching more pythons instead.
Therefore, Feng Yi was pretty indifferent to this matter.
It was two or three in the morning in China now, and just like the last time, Feng Yi sent a message back, and he immediately got a reply.
Feng Chi had attended a party and got home after 1 a.m. After playing with his phone, watching videos, gaming, and showing off his persona of "only caring about food and fun, with no big ambitions" in the family chat group, he was about to yawn and prepare for a shower and bed when he received Feng Yi’s message and perked up immediately.
Knowing that Feng Yi was now resting, Feng Chi asked about the python hunting activities and how many pythons he had caught.
Feng Yi gave him a brief update and sent Feng Chi a photo of the cloth sack holding the snakes.
While Feng Yi was chatting with Feng Chi, a crocodile lurking underwater not far ahead surfaced to breathe. It might have been observing them too, but seeing no imminent danger or aggressive behavior as it didn’t come closer, they ignored it.
Steve saw it as well, "It’s an American crocodile. They can lurk underwater for a long time before surfacing to breathe. Their unique lung structure allows them to regulate buoyancy and swiftly accomplish surfacing, diving, and agile movement—a genius diver, a formidable killer."
While they spoke, another American crocodile surfaced.
Seeing the crocodiles, both Steve and Warren remained calm, understanding the habits of these American crocodiles. As long as they didn’t get too close, the crocodiles generally wouldn’t bother them under the current circumstances.
Warren took out a spare oar from the boat, ready for any emergencies.
Old Josh’s boat was equipped with life rafts and oars. Life rafts weren’t used much here, as oars were used more often for rowing, fishing out objects, or attacking, like hitting crocodiles—a skill Warren was familiar with.
They were still some distance from where the crocodiles were hiding. Although the surroundings of the boat seemed peaceful, they didn’t let their guard down while resting. The swamp was full of surprises, and it was always good to be extra vigilant.
However, looking at the situation at hand, the crocodiles lurking in the water didn’t seem interested in them.
Feng Yi took a photo and sent it to Feng Chi.
Feng Chi quickly replied,
[You guys are resting now, can you do a video call? I want to see the crocodiles!]
In fact, some video platforms had special sections for python hunting activities and live streams featuring crocodiles. Even some streamers approached them for close-up shots to boost their popularity. However, Feng Chi didn’t like those streams with their loud hooting and hollering; too noisy for his taste, he quickly lost interest after a glimpse.
Feng Yi asked Steve if it was okay to have a video call here, and Steve said it wouldn’t matter since they were going to rest for a while.
Seeing that Feng Yi was still in good condition, not even sweating under the blazing sun during snake catching, and still had the energy to chat via video call after a long journey and several snake-catching stops, Steve sighed, "Ah, I’m getting older now, not like when I was 20, full of energy even after a day of running around."
As he spoke, Steve looked at Feng Yi and added, "When I was young, I was just like you."
Feng Yi laughed, "You’re in your prime now, capable of handling a four-meter python all by yourself! I look relaxed because I’ve been mostly on the boat and haven’t moved much, just like during a long trip. Whether it’s by plane or by train, you eventually feel tired if it’s for an extended period. As for not sweating, you know, when we did scientific research in July and August, walking in the forest for a whole day, I hardly sweated or tanned easily—it’s a matter of my physical constitution. Actually, I wouldn’t mind getting a tan."
Steve remembered their scientific research and laughed, "Right, I almost forgot about your unique physique. Even Professor Zhou found it incredible that you don’t sweat much or tan!"
After the research trip, everyone else had tanned several shades, but Feng Yi was the only one who stood out for being pale. Though his paleness was only in comparison to them, and not the same as those with fairer skin, it was noticeable enough, showing no signs of having spent a month or two in the mountains.
People really are different from one another.
Steve put on his hat. When the boat was moving and the wind was strong, he hadn’t worn it. Now he put it on.
Feng Yi put on his Bluetooth headset and made a video call with Feng Chi. He adjusted the camera focus, zoomed in on the American crocodile’s face that had surfaced nearby.
On the high-definition phone screen, the wide face of the American crocodile appeared.
Feng Chi exclaimed, "No matter how many times I see it, I always think it looks like a prehistoric creature. So cool!"
At that moment, two crocodiles on the other end had a small confrontation and started snapping at each other.
