Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off-Chapter 411: Bananas, Beastmen, and a Godzilla Crab!
Su Qinglan felt like a kid in a candy store.
As Han Jue carried her deeper into the island, she discovered that this place was a hidden treasure chest of food.
The mermen who lived on the coast barely ever ventured this far into the woods; they preferred the salt and marine life of the sea, so the interior of the island was overflowing with untouched plants.
"Look at all of this!" she chirped, pointing at patches of wild garlic and bright red tomatoes.
Then, her eyes widened as she spotted a towering tree with heavy clusters of yellow fruit. "A banana tree!"
Han Jue immediately reached up and plucked a bunch for her. Su Qinglan peeled one and took a big bite. Her eyes lit up instantly. It was sweet, creamy, and perfectly ripe. "Oh my god, this is so tasty! Han Jue, try some!"
She felt like she had finally found paradise.
When she had been alone, she never dared to go this deep into the forest. She had to stay near the cave to guard her three cubs, so she only ate what she could find on the outskirts.
But now, with Han Jue’s powerful presence behind her, she felt completely safe to explore.
"This island is amazing," she muttered, her mouth full of banana. "The mermen are missing out."
She didn’t want to leave anything behind, so she hopped down from Han Jue’s arms and started gathering long, sturdy vines and broad leaves. With practiced hands, she began weaving a large basket right there on the spot.
Han Jue watched her with wide, admiring eyes. He loved seeing her so happy and energetic. He helped her by pulling down the heaviest bunches of fruit and digging up the biggest roots she pointed at.
Soon, her handmade basket was overflowing with wild onions, tomatoes, ginger, and a massive pile of bananas. She felt like a queen of the jungle.
"Alright, Han Jue," she said, looking at the mountain of food they had gathered. "We have enough to make a real feast tonight. Let’s head back and cook a feast for ourselves!"
Su Qinglan was on a roll today. After gathering the vegetables and bananas, she immediately dragged Han Jue toward the beach. She had seen many giant crayfish and crabs crawling near the rocks earlier.
"Han Jue, look! Crayfish!" she pointed excitedly. She was really craving a seafood feast for their family reunion.
But when they got closer to the water, Su Qinglan jumped back in shock. Back in her old world, a giant crab was a delicacy, but this thing was a "Godzilla" crab!
It was huge; the top of its shell reached all the way up to her knees. If she could catch just one, she could eat crab meat for days!
Han Jue looked at the monster crab with a disgusted expression. "Lan Lan, can this thing even be eaten? It looks stupid and has such a hard shell. There can’t be any meat in there."
The crab, sensing a threat, snapped its massive claws at them.
Han Jue’s eyes darkened. How dare a bug try to bite his female?
With a blur of motion, he slapped the crab away. The poor crab went flying and slammed into a stone, feeling completely dizzy.
It had lived peacefully on this beach its whole life, and suddenly this insane male beastman was beating it up!
Before the crab could recover, Han Jue picked it up by its shell and started dragging it toward the cave. Su Qinglan was practically drooling. "It’s very good, Han Jue! Trust me, it’s delicious!"
As they were walking back, a massive splash came from the nearby river. They turned to see Hu Yan walking out of the water. He was in his tiger form, carrying a huge fish in his mouth.
When he saw Su Qinglan, his eyes lit up. He dropped the fish on the sand and shifted into his human form.
"Lan Lan! You’re here!" Hu Yan cheered, running toward her with a big grin. "Did you come to pick me up?"
He leaned in to give her a kiss, but Su Qinglan pushed his face away with a grimace. "Hu Yan! Why do you stink so much like fish?"
Hu Yan turned bright red with embarrassment.
He had been so excited by how big the fish were in this sea compared to their mountain river that he had accidentally eaten five giant ones while hunting. He had even tried to carry two more back. To him, this island was a fish-eating paradise!
Hu Yan took one look at the enormous, twitching crab Han Jue was dragging and burst out laughing.
"Han Jue... is that the best you could find?" he snorted, circling the poor, dizzy crab like it was some rare specimen.
"Why are you carrying that ugly, strange thing? Did you mistake it for a rock? Or are you planning to use it to smash potatoes?"
The crab weakly lifted one claw in protest.
Han Jue’s expression instantly turned glacial.
He tightened his grip on the shell and looked at Hu Yan with a faint, dangerous smile. "Lan Lan likes this."
Hu Yan froze mid-laugh.
Han Jue continued smoothly, "Are you saying her taste is bad?"
Hu Yan’s smug grin evaporated so fast it was almost visible.
He immediately straightened up and waved his hands frantically. "No! No, no, no! Everything Lan Lan likes is the best in the entire beast world! I was just... curious about the rock bug!"
"The what?" Su Qinglan narrowed her eyes.
"The noble seafood warrior!" Hu Yan corrected himself instantly, sweat forming on his forehead.
Han Jue let out a low, satisfied snicker. "Bastard."
"You’re the bastard!" Hu Yan shot back reflexively, then quickly added, "I mean, powerful and wise snow wolf!"
Su Qinglan pressed a hand to her forehead.
Why did these two have the mental age of cubs? It seems they have started fighting even more after her disappearance.
"Enough talking," Su Qinglan laughed, patting both of their muscular arms.
"We have fish, we have eggs, we have crab, and we have vegetables. Let’s go back to the cave and cook the best meal of our lives!"
"The cubs must be starving."
