Conquering His Cold Heart-Chapter 755 The inner regions (2)
"Roar!"
Frost and Kiba were currently face to face with their first true adversary within the Glacial mountains inner regions.
A razor scaled yeti, a powerful monster at the early stages of B-rank that focused on sudden bursts of aggression. An ambusher that had unfortunately been spotted or rather sensed before it had the opportunity to strike.
It was forced to reveal itself by Frost's magic and now faced off against the pair with a severe disadvantage, one which Frost keenly understood.
The moment he identified the monster's species he ordered to Kiba to stay on his toes, to move in an erratic way that made the yeti struggle to lock down his position.
The yeti was durable and strong yet slow to turn and attack in any direction that wasn't dead ahead.
Asking Kiba to boldly face off against a B-rank opponent even one only in the early stages was a bit of an ask but thankfully the opponent was quite specialised, and he was not facing it alone.
Frost being at the middle stages and with his natural inborne talent could easily take down such a foe in a matter of minutes perhaps even tens of seconds but it was a good opportunity to stoke the fire under Kiba's ass.
"Try and handle him yourself for a while." Frost used the connection between the two of them to convey his thoughts, thus preventing the enemy Yeti from being alerted.
"Guh?" Kiba was quite surprised by his master's suggestion, so surprised that he stopped moving and thus was almost got by a sudden leap from the razor scaled yeti.
"Don't let your guard down~" Frost said playfully before alighting from Kiba's back.
He wanted to see how Kiba would stack up against an opponent that surpassed him in realm. He was a talented young tiger, a bit lazy but talented.
"Grrr!" Kiba felt slightly betrayed by Frost and looked at him with gaze filled with accusation.
'This is murder! Murder I tell you. Evil, evil master!' Kiba internally screamed as he once again dodged a leap from the yeti.
For such a large and heavy creature it could certainly shift its weight when it wanted to even if it was only in a straight line.
"Roar!"
"Roar!" The two monsters exchanged roars as they confronted one another. Stay connected through novelbuddy

The yeti towered over Kiba, standing over 6 metres high as it rested its weight upon its oversized front limbs, like a gorilla.
Its eyes closely watched Kiba's movements, waiting for an opportunity to leap at its prey and trap him in its iron grip.
Kiba was fine at a distance but as soon as he drew in close, the danger rose exponentially. It was at times like this that Kiba bemoaned the fact that he didn't have any means to attack at a distance…at least not effectively against an opponent like the yeti.
'I should learn some magic when I get a chance.' He had seen Frost use magic to boost his strength, defend himself from deadly attacks and even launch destructive blows from tens of metres away during his previous fights.
'How enviable.' His pride allowed him to ignore the fact that he pretty much slept all day every day for the past several months, never bothering to train himself unless forced or goaded into it.
He had more than a few opportunities to improve his shortcomings.
Frost watched patiently as Kiba slowly shortened the distance and even managed to occasionally dig his fangs and claws into the yeti's tough scales.
He drew blood but did no serious damage and every time he made contact with the yeti he had to desperately run away at the last moment lest he be caught and crushed.
He could launch multiple attacks upon his enemy and never deal anything fatal, but it would only take his enemy one to deal severe damage to him.
There was a difference in body type, natural stats and of course rank.
Kiba could feel the pressure from the yeti's aura, his movements and strength would weaken greatly whenever he drew in close to its body.
This was the advantage those at the B rank and above had over those that were below. This pressure, restricted their strength whenever they fought.
Kiba could at most unleash 70% of his power when under the maximum strain of the yeti's aura.
Even his most powerful skills and most vicious claw rakes felt as though they bore chains that siphoned away his strength. Such a feeling was more than a little irritating.
"Grrrr!" Kiba growled in anger as once again his skill failed to pierce the yeti's scales as deep as he intended.
He could dodge and outmanoeuvre his enemy without much difficulty and even occasionally land an attack but the vast majority of them resulted in superficial damage.
His patience was running out as was his stamina.
'Seems as though that's his limit.' Frost remarked with a small sigh.
There was no shocking reveal or earthshaking defiance on Kiba's part. He had managed to hold his own against a stronger opponent for a time but now it was getting rather dangerous.
As long as the yeti caught hold, devasting damage could be unleased upon his body, damage that could jeopardise their travel time.
Of course death was impossible given Frost's presence but a broken leg, some torn ligaments, perhaps even a ripped wing were all on the table.
"Kiba fall back." Frost rose from his seated position, stretched his back and twirled his glaive in the air. it was time for this confrontation to end.
"Grrrr!" Strangely despite feeling betrayed earlier Kiba refused the order, he wanted to keep going but unfortunately Frost was quite adamant.
"Garow!" [One more move then you can help!]
"….Fine." Frost reluctantly compromised. One more attack then he would forcibly interfere regardless of Kiba's attitude.
A wide smile appeared on Kiba's lips as he deftly avoided another charge from the enemy yeti by leaping into the air.
He flapped his wings and lightly hovered about ten or twelve metres high, enough to have an aerial advantage but not high enough to draw the ire of those who dwelled in the skies.
While the Yeti turned its large, cumbersome body Kiba closed his eyes and tried to access something deep within him, his innate strength, the core of his being.
In response aura that was still in the pseudo stage and restricted to within his body started to slowly transform. A heavy and bloodthirsty pressure escaped his body, attacking everything in the nearby vicinity including both Frost and the Yeti.
'That's' Frost was shocked by what he was feeling, Kiba's aura felt too strong, too dense, similar to….
'Does he have the royal aspect as well?' He didn't know much about royal aspected aura, but he knew it meant that one's aura was special, of a higher quality than what was considered normal.
A wild almost mad expression appeared on Frost's face as he felt and witnessed the changes in his partner. This was what he wanted to see.
"ROOOOAAARRRRR!!!" Boosted by this dense bloodthirsty aura Kiba let loose a mighty primordial roar that reverberated for miles, causing many monsters in the vicinity to instinctually shiver in fear.
Above him appeared the image of a massive tiger similar in form to Kiba only much, much larger and far more terrifying, a vision of what he could possibly become if he continued grow.
This large apparition attached itself to Kiba and followed his movements. The young glacial winged tiger then locked its gaze upon the razor scaled yeti and swooped down with a vengeance, wanting nothing more than to rend it apart with his mighty claws.
Freezing from a sense of primal fear the yeti failed to evade in time and unlike the earlier attacks launched by Kiba this one felt different, it chose to heavily block and defend itself.
Its massive hulking arms were placed before its chest and head while it kneeled down taking the shape of something like a curled up armadillo. This was the yeti's most defensive state as well as its deadliest secret move. While its exterior was fiercely protected its legs were prepared to catapult it at the enemy the moment their move failed to pierce its hide.
It even smiled in an evil manner, thankful that the annoying tiger was finally taking a proper risk. Frost who was silent for most of the time on the sidelines was completely forgotten by it, a foolish mistake.
'What a sneaky fellow.' Kiba may not have been able to notice given his amped up state, but he certainly did. Not wishing to let Kiba take such a dangerous risk he readied himself to move in at a moment's notice. His glaive even trembled at the promise of aura rich blood.
"Roooaaarrrr!" Kiba and the apparition roared at the top of their lungs as their claws fused and elongated to over two metres long and shone with a blood red hue.
These claws crashed upon the hard scales of the razor back yeti and easily carved up deep gashes so severe that the muscles beneath were torn apart and the bones shook with an intensity so great that the yeti felt as though it was on the brink of shattering.
Its legs that were ready to launch its body at the overextended Kiba couldn't support the immense force. They buckled and its tight ball like transformation was undone, revealing its head, throat and chest.
Unfortunately Kiba was too exhausted to strike again and perhaps end this fight. Summoning energy from his innate ancestry was incredibly taxing on his stamina.
The moment the apparition was exhausted his body felt like a wayward leaf in the wind, drained of strength.
He fell upon the snow, his muscles trembling as they struggled to endure the immense level of power he had just used.
He regretted not being able to finish the damn yeti off but at the same time he was proud of his work. He managed to force his way deep into its tough hide, expose its bone and rend apart its durable muscles.
This was a win in his book.
