Conquest Game: The Aloof Husband is Dangerous!-Chapter 238 - 209: Unexpected Situation
Suddenly, she felt something liquid flowing across her face, and the pungent smell made her realize it might be blood.
But she still held Twinkle tightly in her arms...
This was probably a mother’s instinctive reaction.
Jason Hawthorne paid no heed to the blood still flowing from his forehead and quickly took out his phone to call the emergency center. Thankfully, the truck driver braked in time; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
The wound on his forehead was only a minor abrasion. If he had been hit severely, he might have been in life-threatening danger today...
He glanced back at Laura Quincy and Twinkle sitting in the back, feeling incredibly anxious. He had promised to protect Laura, but such a terrible accident happened anyway.
When the ambulance arrived, Laura Quincy’s head was still spinning, and the noisy sound outside made her just want to peacefully sleep. So tired...
"Laura, Laura! Wake up..."
"Mommy, what’s wrong? Don’t you want Twinkle anymore?"
"Laura! You must hang in there! You’ll be alright!"
"Mommy, Twinkle doesn’t want you to be sick. Twinkle wants Mommy to play games with me... Boohoo..."
Laura Quincy only felt the voices of Jason and Twinkle alternating around her ears, clearly audible yet seeming so distant.
She tried very hard to open her eyes, but she was just too weak...
Twenty minutes later.
Laura Quincy was sent into the emergency room. Not ten minutes later, a doctor came out, and Jason Hawthorne hurriedly rushed over to ask, "How is my wife?"
The attending physician replied candidly, "Your wife’s injuries are not severe, merely superficial wounds. However, since her head got hit, a CT scan of the brain is necessary..."
Jason Hawthorne immediately said, "Please conduct a full-body examination! Notify me immediately if there are any issues."
With the family member’s consent, the doctor naturally didn’t refuse, "Alright, I’ll promptly arrange for the nurse to take your wife for the examination."
Jason Hawthorne requested to go along, but the attending physician glanced at his forehead and hands, "Mr. Hawthorne, you should also address your own wounds first. It wouldn’t be good if they get infected."
Jason Hawthorne shook his head, "I’m fine."
Justin Hawthorne, standing next to him, said, "Daddy, you should listen to the doctor. Mommy hasn’t woken up yet, and Twinkle doesn’t want Daddy to get sick too."
The child’s tender and soft voice was filled with obvious worry and fear.
After all, he was still less than six years old, and seeing his mommy protecting him while her face was covered in blood inevitably terrified him. If this matter wasn’t handled well, it might leave a shadow on his young heart...
Jason Hawthorne looked at his son, suddenly realizing the impact this might have on him.
He then crouched down to meet his son’s eyes, "Twinkle, Mommy will definitely be alright. Daddy is in great shape, so I won’t have any problems either. Daddy and Mommy will never leave you alone."
Justin Hawthorne maturely nodded, "Mm, when Mommy wakes up, the first thing I want to tell her is how happy I am that she’s my real mommy!"
Jason Hawthorne affectionately ruffled his son’s hair, "Mommy will surely be very happy to hear that!"
A faint smile finally appeared on Justin Hawthorne’s previously clouded face, "Mm!"
This night seemed exceptionally long for Jason Hawthorne. After all, Twinkle was still young and soon fell asleep nestled in his father’s arms.
And Jason, after getting bandaged, just leaned on the sofa, keeping watch over Laura Quincy for the entire night. She remained semi-conscious, and there were no final results after the brain scan.
For now, all they could do was wait for her to wake up.
Early the next morning.
The sun shone brightly, with warm, golden light lazily streaming through the curtains, making everything seem so wonderful.
Laura Quincy slowly opened her eyes on the bed, first looking around the room. Eh? Where is she?
Upon seeing the two males asleep on the sofa, she was startled. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Indeed!
She was truly startled...
Startled, she shrank back. My goodness! What is this place? And why are there two males sleeping on the sofa?
Could they be father and son?
But why are they in her room?
In a panic, she threw off the quilt and got out of bed, instinctively trying to flee, only to discover that she was wearing a hospital gown...
Emma! What happened to her?
Wasn’t she supposed to be in school?
How did she end up in a hospital?
Moreover, her body had no injuries at all!
Suddenly, a thought crossed her mind: Could she have been framed?
Uh... that must be it!
Suddenly, another thought struck her, and she felt something was off. If she had been framed, she should be the one sitting on the sofa, and it should be one of the father and son lying in the hospital bed, right?
So, what exactly was going on?
She tried hard to recall but had no memory of this father and son, shaking her head in confusion.
Forget it! When all else fails, retreat!
As she lifted the quilt and got out of bed, walking to a spot two meters from the door, a stranger’s male voice came from behind, "Laura, you’re awake?"
The voice sounded like he was really happy to see her awake...
She didn’t turn around and kept walking a couple more steps.
"Laura, what’s wrong? If you feel unwell and want to call a doctor, just wake me up."
As he spoke, Jason Hawthorne walked over to Laura, looking at her with a concerned face, his eyes full of deep affection.
Laura stared at him, utterly shocked, "Who are you? Also, don’t call me Laura! I don’t know you at all!"
Now it was Jason Hawthorne’s turn to be horrified.
His face filled with disbelief, he forced a bitter smile, "Laura, this joke is not funny at all. Go lie down and rest, I’ll get your attending doctor."
Laura looked at him as if she were looking at a stranger, "Uncle, I really don’t know you! I don’t know what misunderstanding there is between us, but please don’t act like you’re familiar with me, okay? I really don’t like it!"
Jason Hawthorne’s face was full of black lines. Uncle? Laura actually called him Uncle?
"What did you call me?"
Laura had a face that said "Is there something wrong with your ears?", "Uncle!"
Jason Hawthorne’s face darkened even more, "Uncle?"
Laura nodded, "Yes! You look like you’re in your thirties with that stubble all over your face. I’m only 20 virtually this year! What else would you be if not an uncle?"
She pouted slightly, complaining with logic and reason.
Jason Hawthorne’s expression was as shocked as it could get, "You’re only 20 this year?"
He remembered Laura being 26 this year!
Laura rolled her eyes, "My birthday hasn’t come yet, to be exact I’m not even 20 yet!"
Jason Hawthorne’s expression was rich with emotions, what is going on?
Could there be an issue with Laura’s memory?
At that tense stalemate, Justin Hawthorne, who was sleeping on the sofa, woke up, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
"Daddy, Mommy, what are you doing?"
Jason Hawthorne took a look at his son; the moment of truth had arrived...
Upon hearing the boy’s call, Laura glanced around the room once again, and after confirming there was no fourth person, she fearfully asked, "Who is he calling Mommy?"
Jason Hawthorne looked at her, "Of course, it’s you."
Laura was so frightened she staggered a bit, "What? How could I possibly have such a big son? Are you guys mistaken? I’m just a poor student without power or status, and I’ve never met you before, suddenly trying to get close and calling me ’Mommy’, I really can’t handle this!"
Justin Hawthorne was dumbfounded by what he heard, "Mommy, what are you talking about?"
Laura was instantly furious, hands on her hips, "Little brat! I’m warning you! Don’t call me Mommy anymore! I’m not your Mommy!"
Justin Hawthorne was a bit scared by his mommy’s unusual behavior, "Mommy, are you ignoring Twinkle on purpose because you’re angry?"
Laura almost went crazy, "Oh my god! Who is this little brat? Why can’t he be reasoned with?!"
She scratched her head, "I’m going crazy!"
Jason Hawthorne saw her state and feared something might happen, so he hurried forward, "Laura, you..."
Laura quickly backed up two steps, "Stop! You stand right there and don’t move! I need to calm down! My mind is really chaotic right now!"
After saying that, she opened the door and ran out.
Jason Hawthorne was just about to chase her but stopped in his tracks; despite the situation being a bit horrifying just now, he had to consider the worst-case scenario.
For now, the priority was to communicate with his son...
Justin Hawthorne was still bewildered, "Daddy, what’s wrong with Mommy? Does she not like Twinkle?"
Jason Hawthorne walked over to his son, saying softly, "No, it’s not that. Mommy might be experiencing memory confusion; she thinks she’s only 20 years old, so it’s very possible her memory has reverted to before she met Daddy..."
Justin Hawthorne blinked in puzzlement, quietly waiting for daddy’s follow-up.
Jason Hawthorne paused for a moment, "Mommy likely hit her head, which is why this situation has arisen. But Daddy believes Mommy will get better for sure, does Twinkle have confidence?"
Justin Hawthorne nodded repeatedly, "I have confidence! Twinkle is so smart and cute, Mommy will definitely remember and like Twinkle again!"
Jason Hawthorne patted his son’s head, "Yes, Daddy also believes Mommy will remember soon. But we need to take Mommy back home to find your godfather first, only he can cure Mommy."
Justin Hawthorne pouted, "But Mommy just went out, Daddy hurry up and find her! What if she gets lost and can’t come back?"
Jason Hawthorne suddenly found himself with a big headache, reassuring his son, "Daddy will go find Mommy right now, Twinkle has to promise not to run around, stay here obediently waiting for Daddy and Mommy to return, okay?"
Justin Hawthorne nodded sensibly, "Yes, Twinkle won’t run around."
Hearing his son’s words, Jason Hawthorne finally headed out with peace of mind.
What worried him most now was whether Laura’s condition was due to amnesia or...
He felt like the heavens were intentionally punishing him...
Laura just stepped out of the room and immediately sensed something was off; why were there foreigners everywhere she looked? Even the nurses passing by had different hair colors and skin tones...
