Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 129: Justin Huxley’s Deadly Gentleness
Assistant Collins picked up the schedule book he had just placed on the table and tapped it with his finger: "You heard right, President Sinclair is indeed getting engaged. And in just a few days, you’ll be able to see the mysterious woman who is pulling our high-and-mighty President Sinclair off his pedestal, about to get engaged to him."
After saying this, Assistant Collins clutched the schedule book and slipped out through the crowd that had gathered after hearing the news: "I don’t have time to talk about this with you now, I have to get busy."
Mercy Hospital.
After finally getting through the long queue, Charles Jenson, enduring the curious stares of those around him, pushed open the door and sat down in front of Vivian Sullivan.
Vivian Sullivan looked at him coldly: "Are you out of your mind? This is the obstetrics and gynecology department. What is a grown man like you doing here making trouble?"
Charles Jenson frowned slightly with displeasure: "The attitude you have when talking to me..."
Vivian Sullivan snorted coldly: "Haven’t I always had this attitude towards you? If you’re not here for a consultation, then leave quickly. I’m busy and don’t have time to fool around with you."
Charles Jenson touched his nose and gave a helpless smile: "I have something to tell you."
"I don’t think there’s anything to discuss with you," Vivian Sullivan raised a hand ready to press a button to throw him out.
Charles Jenson immediately stopped her: "You’ll be working here for a long time. If you don’t want your colleagues whispering about you, let me finish what I have to say."
Vivian Sullivan stared at him quietly, then roughly shook off his hand, crossed her arms, and looked at him coldly: "Alright, let me hear your brilliant idea."
"I wouldn’t call it brilliant," Charles Jenson tossed the packaging he had picked up from the trash can onto the table, "The medicine Summer Lowell is taking, if I’m not mistaken, you prescribed it, right?"
"The hospital has rules, I can’t casually disclose a patient’s privacy to anyone," Vivian Sullivan seized the packaging when he wasn’t paying attention, threw it in her drawer, then looked at him with disdain, "You sure are idle, vice president of a listed company, picking up trash in broad daylight at a hospital to pry into people’s privacy. How sleazy can you be! Believe it or not, I can call the police on you right now."
Charles Jenson didn’t take her sarcasm seriously: "Seems like you two get along pretty well, with how you’re protecting her."
Vivian Sullivan’s patience had run out: "Are you done? If you’re not, then leave quickly, don’t delay me from seeing patients."
Knowing she wouldn’t say anything more, Charles Jenson leisurely stood up: "No worries, we have plenty of time in the future. Summer is already, in essence, Mrs. Sinclair, and as her friend and me as President Sinclair’s subordinate, we’ll have many chances to meet again."
Charles Jenson took a step back, walked to the door, gave Vivian Sullivan a meaningful smile, turned around, and opened the door to leave.
Behind the desk, Vivian Sullivan muttered under her breath, slamming the table once, then quickly composed her angry face into a gentle one before the next patient walked in, so as not to scare the pregnant women.
Stellart Design Department.
Summer Lowell had just finished packing the things she needed to take home when she received a call from Justin Huxley.
"Summer, are you off work yet?"
Summer Lowell clutched her phone with mixed feelings: "What’s up, Justin, do you need to see me?"
"I’m just nearby your company and wanted to know if you were working late today. If not, I could take you to a restaurant in the south of the city. A friend of mine just opened it, and I’d like to show you around and support him."
"But..."
Summer Lowell absentmindedly tugged at the leaves of the green plant on the table.
Though encountering someone like Justin, who treats her with such affection, should have made her happy.
However, she has already agreed to be Maxim Sinclair’s wife and can no longer accept Justin Huxley’s fervor.
Moreover, she actually has no feelings for Justin Huxley.
Now, it was time to make things clear.
Summer Lowell blinked her damp eyes then, in a busy tone, apologized to Justin on the other end of the line: "I’m afraid I can’t join you for dinner today. I’ve taken on several important projects recently and I’m not sure when I’ll be off work."
To make her lie more believable, after brushing Justin off, Summer deliberately sat back down and called Assistant Fletcher, who was about to leave.
After asking for tasks to be completed by tomorrow, Summer endured her exhaustion and actively worked overtime.
"Director Lowell, didn’t you just say you were about to get off work? And these tasks aren’t urgent, why the rush to finish them today?" Assistant Fletcher asked, puzzled.
"I just suddenly didn’t want to go home, thought I might as well handle some work. You guys can leave if you want, there’s no need to stay."
Another half hour passed, and Summer Lowell looked at the clock on the wall, impatiently pushed aside the files in front of her, pulled over her computer, clicked on a recent popular TV drama, picked an episode at random, and started watching.
Even though she was watching TV, she didn’t actually pay any attention to it. Her mind was a jumble, and she kept recalling the contract she signed last night.
Thinking of the consequence of her actions—severing any possibility between Tina Huxley and Maxim Sinclair—
Made her feel a bit delighted inside.
She told herself she wouldn’t start over with this man.
Just as she was reminiscing about why she agreed to the company’s move to Stellarion, her phone rang again. Picking it up, she saw Justin Huxley’s number on the screen.
Had he not left yet?
If he hadn’t, what excuse should she use to send him away?
Summer Lowell looked hesitantly at her phone and was about to answer it when someone knocked on her office door from outside.
Guessing it might be Assistant Fletcher coming back to deliver something, she called out loudly, "Come in."
With that, she looked back down at her phone, but the next second, the call was hung up by Justin from his end.
Summer exhaled in relief. She wasn’t ready to face Justin Huxley yet, it was just too awkward.
"Really? You look so troubled just seeing my call."
Hearing that familiar voice, Summer jumped up in surprise, then saw Justin walking over with a big bag, smiling: "Justin, why are you here?"
"I was worried about you working late, so I brought you some food as a treat." Justin laughed, walking over to a nearby table and started unpacking, "Come over and eat first; work is endless. I’ve noticed you’ve looked thinner these days, come on over."
Summer Lowell walked over with a complex expression, looking at Justin as he laid out the food. After a brief mental preparation, she finally spoke: "Justin, you shouldn’t waste any more time on me. I’m not worth your kindness."
Justin’s hands paused for a moment, then he looked up at Summer with a gentle smile: "Didn’t you say you’d give me a chance to pursue you? Did I do something wrong to make you annoyed?"
