Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 143: Who Has Been Framing Summer Lowell All Along
"But I’ve told you, I don’t need you to open a studio for me."
Summer Lowell finished speaking and walked into the building without looking back.
Maxim Sinclair shook his head slightly, then let out a laugh with an unclear meaning, muttering to himself, "It’s okay, you’ll eventually agree to accept this gift."
As soon as Summer walked into the company’s entrance, she was stopped by Elias, the assistant to President Norris.
And he looked as if he had been waiting for a long time.
"Elias, good morning." Summer nodded and greeted him.
Elias’s expression didn’t look very good, and he lowered his voice, "Director Lowell, please come with me. President Norris is looking for you."
Elias led her to Noah’s private elevator. Once inside, the anxious Summer began to probe, "Your expression doesn’t look very good. Did something happen?"
Elias looked at her deeply, "You’ll know once you get to President Norris’s office."
A few thoughts quickly flashed through Summer’s mind, and the more she thought, the darker her expression became.
It was the first time she’d seen Elias, who usually greeted people with a smile, with such an expression. Today’s issue must be quite challenging to handle.
Inside the office, Noah was standing at a desk, flipping through some papers in his hands.
Elias brought Summer in, "President Norris, I’ve brought Director Lowell to you."
"Come in, have a seat here." Noah pointed to the sofa beside him and then instructed Elias, who hadn’t had a chance to leave, "Keep anyone who comes looking for me outside the office, and also, have the deputy general take charge of today’s meetings."
"Understood, President Norris." Elias closed the office door as he left.
Summer looked at Noah anxiously, reluctant to sit down, "What happened?"
Noah handed her a tablet from the table, "This is the message I received first thing this morning, have a look."
The complex and indescribable look in Noah’s eyes made Summer’s heart race.
When she saw the content on the tablet, her face instantly turned pale.
Summer’s mind was in chaos, her usual cleverness completely vanished as she looked directly into Noah’s eyes without any fear, "I haven’t done anything against the company, I didn’t leak this secret."
"In the entire Stellarion Branch, only you and I know about this, not even the deputy general is aware." Noah took out a cigarette, lit it, and silently took a couple of drags, "The headquarters intended to call the police today to investigate you, but I stopped them, so the final agreement was to provide a rationale to defend you before noon today."
"But I really didn’t do it. The original document is only with you, I’ve just seen it."
Noah finished the remaining cigarette in a few drags and extinguished the butt in the ashtray, "If I remember correctly, your level of photographic memory is quite decent."
Summer wearily supported her forehead, "Headquarters cannot conclude that I maliciously leaked the secret just because I saw the document."
"Certainly not just for that." Noah bent slightly, swiped the tablet a couple of times, and pointed at the photos in it, "These are photos of you entering Maxim Sinclair’s villa last night, anonymously sent to the headquarters’ email, and this one, the deputy general of the Sinclair Group’s subsidiary having breakfast with the deputy general of Southcrown Jewelers this morning." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Summer numbly scrolled through the photos on the tablet, "So, it seems like all the evidence is pointing toward me now?"
Noah sighed, "Summer, Stellart is not solely mine. I admire your talent, but in this matter, I can’t save you."
"How can I take responsibility for something I didn’t do?" Summer felt equally wronged, "President Norris, I know this puts you in a tough spot too, but I truly didn’t do this. This is a disaster I never saw coming."
Noah knew her character, and he rubbed his temples with a troubled expression, "How about this, I’ll stall the headquarters for you, and I can also arrange for someone to investigate the leak of the confidential project, but regarding whatever is going on between you and Maxim Sinclair, you need to provide the headquarters with a reasonable explanation."
Just as expected, Summer helplessly sighed, disguising the matter of the contract and using an alternative explanation to explain to Noah, "I did have some personal matters to discuss with Maxim last night, so he brought me to the villa, but nothing happened. I wanted to leave, but it was too late, and he wouldn’t let me go."
As she spoke, a realization flashed through Summer’s mind.
Could this be Linda’s doing?
Hasn’t she always been under Maxim Sinclair’s command?
Last night, out of nowhere, Maxim kept her locked in the villa, refusing to let her leave.
Maxim even gave her a document, saying it was for her studio, and after she refused that gift, he still confidently believed she would accept it eventually.
Noah didn’t miss the thoughts that flickered across her face, "Are you suggesting this is all a scheme by Maxim? If so, Summer, how far did things go between you two in the past?"
As the past was brought up, a sense of shame inexplicably washed over Summer, prompting her to deliberately conceal part of the truth, "Just as I initially reported to the headquarters, I naturally approached him and played the role of his girlfriend. If I hadn’t done so, I wouldn’t have been able to obtain that document at all."
Noah seemed not entirely satisfied with her answer as he hesitated slightly, and inquired gently, "From my perspective, it seems like Maxim Sinclair might still have lingering feelings for you."
Feeling repeatedly trapped in a difficult situation, with no way out, Summer found his conclusion absurd, "President Norris, you’re joking. Maxim could just be taking revenge on me. Looking at what he’s done, it’s clearly venting personal anger."
Noah thought so too, considering that what Maxim had done clearly didn’t appear to be legitimate methods of pursuing someone.
"If you suspect that, why not try testing Maxim and see if he’s really behind this?" Noah decided and offered his reasoning, "After all, you two are familiar with each other to some degree, see if you can infer from his reaction."
There was no other choice now.
Summer nodded reluctantly, "I’ll give it a try, but I can’t guarantee anything. His mind is extremely deep, and most people can’t figure him out."
"Then you’ll have to find a way," Noah pointed at the photos on the tablet, "If worst comes to worst, place the blame on him. Although I personally believe in your loyalty, those at headquarters don’t. Blaming Maxim might or might not help you stay at Stellart."
Noah didn’t make any guarantees, and Summer understood. She realized her situation had become quite dangerous, and if the matter wasn’t properly resolved, she would certainly be kicked out of Stellart.
After leaving Noah’s office, Summer thought for a bit and called Maxim Sinclair via video call.
Maxim answered promptly, without hiding his surprise at all, "You actually took the initiative to video call me?"
