Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 148: Pushed to the Limit, Finally Deciding to Leave
Summer Lowell suddenly felt that the sweet wine in her mouth had turned particularly bitter. She looked at the bottle in her hand, and in a daze, she recalled the way Maxim Sinclair took care of her when she was drunk.
Perhaps back then, she and Maxim Sinclair were truly in love.
After all, that relationship was indeed real.
She had also given her heart sincerely to him.
But if it weren’t for Maxim Sinclair’s deception, she might have really given up on stealing that document back then and certainly wouldn’t have left without a word.
"It’s too late to say anything now."
Summer Lowell chuckled bitterly, plugged the bottle with its cap, and tossed it into the trash.
Just then, her phone rang. She looked down and saw that it was a call from Justin Huxley.
Summer Lowell cleared her throat, took a sip of water to calm herself, and then answered the call, "Senior, what’s up?"
Justin Huxley’s voice on the other end was both concerned and anxious, "How are you? I heard from a friend that your company is in trouble again?"
How did he know so quickly?
Summer Lowell felt puzzled. These were still just rumors, and Noah had warned the entire company at noon not to spread gossip or post anything on social media.
So where did Justin Huxley get his information?
Realizing something was amiss, Summer Lowell became highly alert, "What happened to our company? I don’t know which incident you’re referring to, senior."
"Of course, it’s about you. I’m not interested in anything else," Justin Huxley paused, sounding quite urgent, "My assistant was meeting a client at one of your company’s retail stores downstairs and happened to overhear them discussing you. I heard Stellart intends to remove you from your position, is that true?"
So that’s what it was.
Summer Lowell’s lips curled into a cold smile. The people in this company were truly outrageous.
There’s no need to guess. Those gossiping downstairs must be the designers from her department.
After all, if she left the company, the next director would be one of them; it would depend on who had the stronger backing.
"Don’t listen to their nonsense, senior. Maybe your assistant misheard."
Seeing that Summer Lowell was unwilling to discuss further, Justin Huxley didn’t press any more questions and, after expressing some concern about her current situation, promptly hung up.
Summer Lowell let out a sigh. In this vast Stellarion, there were very few who truly cared about her.
"I really shouldn’t have come back!"
Summer Lowell shook her head, stood up, and began organizing her things behind her desk.
There’s a possibility she might be fired in the next second, so it’s better to start preparing now.
She moved the documents awaiting approval to one side. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
With so many people in the design department eager to take the director’s position, she, the thorn in their side, would probably be removed soon.
There’s no need to approve any more documents.
Summer Lowell picked up a photo frame on the desk, gently stroking it. It was something she brought from Leonia, a photo taken during her university graduation on campus.
In the photo, she was full of smiles, her eyes brimming with expectations for the future, and a passion for chasing her dreams.
Looking now, Summer Lowell turned her head to see herself in the mirror, resembling a lost dog.
"Knock, knock, knock!"
"Come in."
The one who opened the door was her assistant, Finn. Finn opened the door and then stepped aside. Summer Lowell looked up following his movement.
Musk had come.
Seeing him arrive, Summer Lowell showed no reaction and continued organizing her things.
Musk walked over, glanced at Summer Lowell’s actions, and for some reason, felt a bit guilty: "Director Lowell, the big boss said that as long as you can provide a reasonable explanation, the position of design director at the subsidiary is still yours. After all, you have made significant contributions to the company."
"I can’t provide any evidence. I only have one thing to say: I didn’t do anything." Summer Lowell didn’t even look at him, and she beckoned to the pale-faced Assistant Fletcher beside her, "Except for this photo, I have no use for other things. Look through them; if there’s anything you like, take it. If not, help me throw everything into the trash bin."
"Director Lowell, what are you doing?" Assistant Fletcher asked incredulously, her voice trembling as she looked at Summer Lowell.
Summer Lowell smiled gently at her, tucking stray hairs behind her ears: "I have to make room for others. I don’t have as strong a backing as them. When it’s time to leave, you must go; otherwise, if you provoke them, who knows how they might deal with me."
At the office door, a large group of people was crowded together, craning their necks, listening to the sounds inside.
In front of all the company subordinates, Musk couldn’t tolerate Summer Lowell saying such things, tarnishing the company’s reputation.
He raised his voice, emphatically declaring: "The big boss and several shareholders said that as long as you can provide evidence, you can continue as the company’s design director."
"Then I’ll say it to you one last time. I didn’t do anything, where do you want me to find evidence? You say I did it, but did you provide any solid evidence?"
After Summer Lowell finished speaking, she smiled mockingly: "I almost forgot, you have those photos, just using photos to convict me, what an absurd and laughable thing."
Unwilling to be outdone, Musk took out his phone and showed it around to everyone nearby: "Sinclair Group’s Solara Branch has already reached a cooperation agreement with the Southcrown Group’s head. Originally, this collaboration was our company’s, and most importantly, the Southcrown Group’s head questioned our head about why our proposal was so similar to Sinclair Group’s, and yet didn’t offer as generous conditions as theirs."
Faced with undeniable evidence, Summer Lowell shrugged indifferently, "I still have the same words: I don’t know anything. You investigate it yourselves and figure it out."
"Summer Lowell," Musk finally tore off all pretenses. He pointed at Summer Lowell, furious, "You don’t depend on your past relationship with Maxim Sinclair to do whatever you please. Do you think you can stay by someone like Maxim Sinclair? A person without professional ethics, once he tires of you, no company will want you!"
Summer Lowell gave him a cold look and after a while, replied: "You don’t need to concern yourself with my affairs. Better to find out who’s leaking company secrets, so that it doesn’t become a recurring issue even after I’m long gone."
With that, Summer Lowell suddenly laughed, looking at Musk with ill intent, slowly saying, "Do you think one day this might happen to you too?"
Musk’s face turned livid: "I am someone with professional ethics. I wouldn’t do anything illegal, not before and not now."
He was mocking Summer Lowell for having a criminal record.
Summer Lowell understood his meaning, but at this point, she couldn’t care less: "Don’t speak too soon. We’ll see."
