Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 153: Melanie Sinclair Plots to Kill with a Borrowed Knife
Unfortunately, it’s too late.
Those who weren’t willing to spend the rest of their lives at someone else’s mercy, after witnessing the success of Maxim Sinclair, gradually developed some different thoughts.
So, they set their sights on Old Master Sinclair.
Hoping that while Old Master Sinclair was still around, he might have some undistributed inheritance, or they could win his favor and secure a cushy job within the Sinclair Group, planning their moves slowly.
Maybe one day, they could dethrone Maxim Sinclair and take his place.
Old Master Sinclair had weathered storms all his life, and although he was decisive in business, always keeping his word.
But deep down, he was rather traditional. In his view, Maxim Sinclair was the successor he had groomed personally, and though the others didn’t share the same mother with Maxim Sinclair, ultimately, they were also his grandchildren.
They were all his bloodline, all members of the Sinclair Family.
Several of the Sinclair children born out of wedlock knew Old Master Sinclair’s sentiments, and they deliberately took advantage of his soft heart, steadily, little by little, pushing their limits.
Two years ago, another illegitimate child, swayed by someone’s suggestion, used a self-harm ruse, trying to persuade Old Master Sinclair to force Maxim Sinclair to hand over an overseas company to him.
But Maxim Sinclair was even more ruthless, executing a maneuver that made Old Master Sinclair never want to see that grandson again.
At that time, Summer Lowell had just started working as Maxim Sinclair’s secretary, and she handled this matter according to his wishes.
Varden Villa seemed to have a special significance for Maxim Sinclair; without his permission, most people really couldn’t enter.
Those whom Maxim Sinclair allowed into the villa mostly shared a close bond with him.
Except for Summer herself.
Summer, having worked as his secretary for a year, naturally knew this habit. She also knew how much Maxim Sinclair hated those illegitimate children born to his parents outside.
She was deliberately doing the opposite.
Especially since the two visitors today were the smartest and most savvy among Maxim Sinclair’s siblings.
Their greatest advantage was being very good at winning Old Master Sinclair’s favor.
In some aspects, they were probably even better at it than Maxim Sinclair.
If it weren’t for Maxim Sinclair holding multiple advantages and having found ways to suppress these two early on, they might have been his most troublesome issues now.
The primary reason Summer Lowell acted this way today was that she wanted to use their hands to make Maxim Sinclair give her up.
Maxim Sinclair grew up under the care of Old Master Sinclair, and the bond between the grandfather and grandson was deep.
Old Master Sinclair rarely interfered with Maxim Sinclair’s decisions.
Similarly, when Old Master Sinclair did voice an opinion, Maxim Sinclair rarely disagreed.
Especially on significant matters like marriage.
Her actions just now were enough for them to lodge a complaint with Old Master Sinclair.
Perhaps once Old Master Sinclair knew, he would oppose Maxim Sinclair continuing to be with her.
Currently, she couldn’t fight against Maxim Sinclair on her own.
She had to find a way to get help.
The only person she could think of who might make Maxim Sinclair change his mind was Old Master Sinclair.
...
At the Sinclair Group, Assistant Collins hung up the phone, looking at Maxim Sinclair with hesitation.
Maxim Sinclair, scanning the financial reports, didn’t even lift his head, casually asking, "What’s Grandpa’s reaction?"
"The old gentleman is quite angry, he said... said you lack vision."
Maxim Sinclair chuckled, unconcerned: "Summer did this on purpose. She once helped me deal with someone, the one who wanted to steal The Meridia Company, she knows how much I dislike them."
Assistant Collins rubbed his nose, thinking to himself, what kind of game are you two playing?
"Summer planned this act to make Grandpa annoyed with her. Grandpa has suggested more than once that I’m not young anymore and should find a wife. Summer thinks she can’t fight against me and wants Grandpa to intervene, to make me sever ties with her."
Assistant Collins, realizing now, sincerely remarked, "This is quite a roundabout tactic."
"It’s alright, it’s something she’d do, I’m not surprised," Maxim Sinclair seemed not only unbothered, he was even quite pleased. "I’m very curious what move she’ll use next if this one doesn’t succeed."
[Haha, you sure are optimistic, not afraid your wife might leave.]
In the afternoon, Summer Lowell, having just woken up from a nap, was daydreaming by the window when the butler knocked on the door looking for her.
Summer opened the door, staring blankly at the butler.
"Young Madam, the old gentleman, that is, the young master’s grandfather, wants to see you."
This soon?
The efficiency of the siblings who came in the morning is quite impressive!
"Does he want to see me now? Where should I meet him?" Summer perked up.
Seeing that she showed no signs of rejection, the butler felt relieved.
Just now, on the way over, he was most worried that Summer would refuse to meet Old Mr. Sinclair.
If that were the case, he really wouldn’t know how to handle it.
"The old gentleman returned to the nursing home yesterday. He sent a driver over, so Young Madam can go directly in the car sent by the old gentleman. Don’t worry, I’ve informed the young master, and he’ll head to the nursing home after he finishes his meeting."
That’s just perfect, she thought, she could make a good impression, and if lucky, Maxim Sinclair might break up with her as soon as he gets there.
Thinking this, Summer effortlessly made her way to the nursing home.
Melanie Sinclair stood on a platform near the entrance of the nursing home, her eyes fixated on the gate.
When she saw Tina Huxley’s car approaching, Melanie smiled with satisfaction and immediately called the driver who went to pick up Summer to ask about their whereabouts.
Upon hearing that Summer would arrive soon, Melanie cheerfully turned back to the small garden where Old Master Sinclair was engrossed in a game of chess.
Two hours earlier.
Through a friend, she had informed Tina Huxley that Summer Lowell was currently living at Varden Villa.
She had known for a long time that Tina Huxley was dead set on marrying Maxim Sinclair.
Especially since recently, at Old Master Sinclair’s birthday banquet, Maxim Sinclair and Tina Huxley had been so publicly affectionate, leading many to think the Sinclair and Huxley Families were about to merge.
She didn’t believe Tina Huxley would turn a blind eye to Summer Lowell living in Varden Villa.
Most importantly, Melanie Sinclair had known for a while that Maxim Sinclair wasn’t interested in Tina Huxley at all; she had thought she had misunderstood during the birthday banquet incident.
But it seems her previous judgment was spot-on after all.
Now she just wondered if impulsive Tina Huxley would do something to surprise her.
"Tina Huxley, don’t let me down!"
When Melanie Sinclair arrived at the garden, Tina Huxley was already standing beside Marcus Sinclair, the two of them chatting and laughing.
Noticing her arrival, Tina rarely initiated a greeting: "Melanie, you’re back. When did you arrive, and why didn’t you say something?"
In the past, it was always Melanie who greeted her, and Tina would barely acknowledge her.
Today, the tables had turned, and Melanie couldn’t be more pleased inside.
But since the plan wasn’t complete, she dared not become complacent, and she smiled politely, "I just got in last night."
