Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 191: You Don’t Remember Me?
When the last syllable fell, Summer Lowell stood in front of Maxim Sinclair.
Maxim Sinclair focused his gaze on her, completely ignoring the nearby Justin Huxley. His bold actions drew curious glances from the surroundings.
Suppressing the dark thoughts threatening to surface, Justin Huxley brazenly pulled Summer into his arms.
Maxim Sinclair was displeased by his actions. He followed Justin’s arm with his eyes, looking into Justin’s eyes: "Long time no see. I didn’t expect you to have such a big move behind my back."
Justin Huxley’s smile was half triumphant and half smug. His right hand lightly caressed the exposed shoulder of Summer Lowell: "You know, rounding it off, we are like childhood sweethearts. She was my junior when I studied abroad. After all the twists and turns, we ended up together. Isn’t fate destined?"
"You’ve only just begun," Maxim Sinclair sneered, "Talking about fate being destined now is a bit premature."
Justin Huxley pretended not to hear him, intentionally continuing to flirt with Summer in front of him: "What’s the material of this shawl, why is your shoulder exposed again? Is the air conditioning in this hall too strong? Are you cold? If you are, I’ll have someone turn it up a bit."
Maxim Sinclair’s gaze was like a needle, piercing straight onto Summer Lowell.
Just standing there made Summer extremely uncomfortable. Seizing the chance to talk to Justin, she whispered in his ear: "Didn’t the butler say we should greet a few elders first? Why did you bring me here?"
Justin Huxley couldn’t have been more pleased with her reaction.
"Although this President Sinclair is young, he’s not an ordinary person."
Justin Huxley smiled, signaling her to greet Maxim Sinclair, "This is the head of the Sinclair Group, one of the top-notch men in Stellarion."
Maxim Sinclair’s brows furrowed slightly, his expression finally shifted, looking at Summer with a hint of confusion in his voice: "Are you injured?"
Summer was taken aback by his question; his gaze earlier was truly terrifying.
Yet, the concern in his eyes didn’t seem fake, especially coupled with Justin’s earlier reminder in her ear.
Summer was momentarily at a loss for how to react.
Justin Huxley, mindful of Maxim Sinclair, didn’t want them to communicate much. He roughly interrupted them: "Summer has been kicking the blanket at night these days, caught a slight cold, but mainly it’s because her body is too weak. The doctor said she faced dual pressures both mentally and physically before, needing a good year or two of recuperation."
Looking at Justin Huxley standing victoriously in front of him, Maxim Sinclair suddenly felt an itch to punch him.
Thankfully, Assistant Collins timely noticed his intention and stepped in to mediate: "President Sinclair, someone is calling you over there."
Not missing the murderous intent in Maxim’s eyes, Justin Huxley felt a thin sweat on his back, pulling Summer back two steps. While being politely distant, he deliberately raised his voice so others could hear: "In that case, Summer and I won’t disturb you, President Sinclair. I wish you a pleasant time today, and thank you for coming to give us your blessings. My fiancée and I are very grateful."
Maxim Sinclair looked at the ridiculous figure of Justin Huxley and let out a scornful laugh.
Almost all the people present were perceptive; his laughter brought about subtle calculation in their eyes and minds.
Justin Huxley felt a plunge in his heart, using immense self-control to suppress his chaotic emotions, escorted Summer to where Old Mr. Huxley and Mr. Huxley were chatting with guests.
At this moment, Tina Huxley arrived, holding two glasses of wine, she handed one to Maxim Sinclair with a smile: "I heard you had an important meeting today, yet you still came to support my brother and attend his engagement."
Maxim Sinclair took the glass but didn’t drink. Instead, he handed it over to his assistant behind him, looking at the somewhat embarrassed Tina: "When did you return to the country? A few days ago, my assistant contacted you to discuss cooperation, didn’t you say you were abroad?"
"I was indeed abroad a few days ago. Recently, I’ve been flying back and forth to visit my friends, staying a night or two and then returning."
After speaking, she looked at Maxim Sinclair expectantly, hoping he would say a caring word.
Unfortunately, Maxim didn’t have his mind on her at all.
Because his gaze was occasionally fixed on Summer, wrapped in Justin Huxley’s arms at a distance.
Tina followed his sight, feeling guilty and looking away, preparing to find an excuse to leave. She was a bit afraid Maxim might press her with questions.
Just as she was about to turn, Maxim spoke: "Where did Justin Huxley find Summer? When did he set this up, did you have any part in it?"
Tina shook her head sincerely: "Whether you believe it or not, I can only say, I truly know nothing about it."
"Then, I have one more question. Summer seems not to recognize me anymore, what did Justin do to her?"
His gaze was a bit frightening, and Tina nearly dropped her wine glass in fear.
"My brother said when he met Summer, she had already forgotten everything, seemed to only remember him."
The last sentence was added on her own accord.
About Summer and Justin’s past, she knew some details.
After having amnesia, she only remembered the person she liked the most when she was young.
The impact of this revelation was significant, making her sure it would pierce into Maxim Sinclair’s heart.
As she anticipated, Maxim’s gaze visibly changed after hearing this sentence.
Assistant Collins, standing beside him, also felt a bit worried.
He feared Maxim might suddenly lose his reason and do something too extreme.
Luckily, he was overthinking.
Maxim Sinclair glanced once more at Summer in the distance, and called out to his worried assistant nearby: "Let’s go back to the company for the meeting, there’s plenty of work to do."
Without looking at Tina again, he took large strides towards the exit with his assistant.
Tina was left somewhat bewildered by his reaction. When she snapped out of it, she caught up with him at the entrance: "You just got here, why are you leaving already? The ceremony hasn’t even started yet?"
As she chased after him, Maxim was waiting for his car to be brought over.
Maxim looked at her, then at the plaque reading The Huxley Residence above, and let out a cryptic laugh: "A delusional ceremony, do I have any reason to stay?"
"You seem to misunderstand, let me explain more: this engagement, Summer agreed to it."
