Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 211: Tina Huxley Is Courting Disaster
"So, you just got engaged to Justin at the beginning of the month, and some of our family’s relatives and friends, especially the young folks your age, are really curious about you. They want to hang out with you, since we’ll all be family in the future."
Tina Huxley smiled as she took out a tablet, turned it on, and handed it to Summer Lowell: "To help you successfully integrate into the Huxley family’s social circle, I’m planning to host a party specifically for young people to welcome you. What do you think, sis?"
"Really? Thank you, but isn’t that too much trouble," Summer knew she was making excuses and couldn’t refuse Tina, so she went along with it, taking the tablet and looking it over seriously. After a moment, she looked at Tina with a bit of difficulty, "I see the party is being held at a bar, and I’m not good with alcohol!"
She didn’t believe Tina truly wanted to integrate her into the social circle, as bars were places where too many things could be done. For her safety, she wanted to test if they could change the location.
"Bars are lively! Other places are bland, and I stayed up late making these arrangements. I’ve already told our friends, and they’re all looking forward to it. Changing the venue at the last minute would be very troublesome."
"So, this party is happening in the next few days?" Summer quickly scrolled through the contents on the screen, feeling a bit agitated inside.
What was Tina up to today?
"Yes, it’s this weekend, just two days away. Don’t worry, sis, with me there, you’ll definitely be the star of the show."
Tina affectionately wrapped her arm around Summer’s shoulder.
At that moment, Old Master Huxley, who was taking a stroll downstairs, also arrived at the garden.
Seeing this, Mrs. Huxley got up first and urged the two young ones opposite to turn around.
Old Master Huxley waved his hand kindly, smiling, "We’re all family, no need for formalities. Have a seat."
Tina looked at Summer standing in front of her and then at the smiling old master, getting an idea. She ran over to him and playfully coaxed him to sit under the pavilion, pouring him tea like showing off a treasure: "Grandpa, I organized an event, especially for Sister-in-law Summer, so she can integrate into our Huxley family’s social circle sooner."
"Is it that kind of young people’s event where you all laugh and hang out together?" Old Master Huxley gave her a side glance, "Isn’t that your specialty? You’ve been doing that since you were a teenager, always attending such events instead of focusing on your studies. Look at your sister-in-law, learn from her. I remember you once wanted to learn jewelry design too!"
Summer lowered her head to sip tea without saying anything.
Tina didn’t dare show dissatisfaction in front of the old master. She clung to his arm, humming twice, and said with a wronged expression, "I’m organizing this for my sister-in-law’s good, to make her familiar with everyone before the wedding. Justin even praised me for it; how did I become the one being blamed by you, Grandpa!"
"Alright, alright, I know you’re doing it for your sister-in-law," Old Master Huxley patted her hand and let her sit back in her chair. Then he looked up and spoke to Summer, "If you have no other plans, go with Tina and meet the young people in her circle. Justin might not have time, so let Tina accompany you."
Now that Tina had brought out the old master, even if Summer didn’t want to go, she had to nod and agree.
The news that Tina was organizing a party to introduce Summer to the young people in her circle quickly reached Matthew, who investigated it and reported back to Maxim Sinclair.
Maxim Sinclair got the time and place, canceled his other engagements, and headed to the bar where Tina was hosting the party with his bodyguard in tow.
When his car reached the back street of the bar, Maxim didn’t get out immediately. He tapped his finger lightly on the seat cushion, patiently waiting for Matthew, who had been stationed at the bar all morning, to come over.
"President Sinclair, as you guessed, Tina Huxley’s intentions with this party aren’t good."
Matthew, who had undergone some physical disguise, opened the car door, sat inside, and showed him some photos he had just taken on his phone, "Miss Lowell is in some danger now. I’ve arranged for Lynn to protect her, and she won’t get into any immediate trouble."
Maxim Sinclair’s eyes lingered on the somewhat unclear video in the phone, "Tina Huxley is getting bolder, no, she’s always been this malicious. This isn’t the first time she’s used this trick."
Assistant Collins, who was listening closely to the noises behind, quickly guessed what Tina was planning to do to Summer.
"President Sinclair, what shall we do next? Shouldn’t we lend Miss Lowell a hand?"
Maxim returned the phone to Matthew, giving a cold order, "Make sure to preserve all evidence. I’ll need it."
Then he opened the car door, got out, and headed directly for the bar entrance.
Maxim Sinclair’s arrival quickly drew the attention of the other partygoers.
Recently, the Huxley family had just snatched a big project from the Sinclair Group, so the atmosphere was a bit delicate.
When Tina found out Maxim had also come, she felt guilty but also unwilling to give up.
Why was Summer always so lucky!
Could Maxim be here to rescue her?
"Maxim? How come you’re here too? I thought you wouldn’t attend such purely social events. If I had known you were interested, I would have told you earlier!"
Tina offered him a glass of wine with a smile and tentatively asked, "Were you attending a nearby event and just passing by, wanting to have a drink?"
Maxim gave her a deep look, took the glass, but didn’t bring it to his lips: "Yes, I was passing by and remembered the drinks at this bar were quite good, so I thought I’d stop by for a taste."
Maxim glanced around and feigned ignorance as he asked Tina, "What’s the theme of today’s party? It seems like an event you organized."
Tina widened her eyes, trying hard to decipher Maxim’s expression in the flickering lights: "Grandpa asked me to organize this party to introduce my future sister-in-law, Summer, to the friends in our circle ahead of time. Justin is busy with work, so he gave me this task."
As she spoke, Tina nonchalantly turned her head to look for Summer, "By the way, where did sis go? She was just here, and now she’s gone in the blink of an eye?"
Maxim held the glass without changing his expression, while Assistant Collins inwardly lit a candle for Tina.
She was really dancing in a minefield!
Truly asking for trouble.
After searching around and not finding her, Tina apologized perfunctorily, "She might have been called aside to chat. If you’re not in a hurry to leave, I’ll have her come over and greet you, since you two are somewhat acquainted."
