Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 749 - 388: Extra: Menstrual Pain 2_2
She was in excruciating pain, and at that moment, she forgot to be cautious and yelled at Dylan with all her strength, "Let him answer!!"
Dylan was startled by Christine Quinn on the phone, and as if by some force, handed the phone back to Skyler Jones.
The ongoing meeting had to be interrupted because Skyler Jones needed to answer the phone.
Skyler Jones walked to the balcony of the conference room, looking displeased, yet not daring to erupt, and could only grit his teeth and quietly burst out, "I’m in a meeting, don’t you know?"
"Oversky... my stomach hurts so much..."
"Stomach ache?"
"Mm, I feel like I’m about to die..."
"What... I’ll be right back."
In just about ten minutes, he had rushed back to his apartment from the company.
He was so anxious that he nearly burst through the door, seeing her in pajamas rolling on the bed, he repeatedly cursed and hurriedly picked her up.
"What’s wrong?"
She leaned against him, her face covered in beads of sweat from enduring the pain, "It’s that time, my stomach hurts so much..."
Having seen her suffer from menstrual cramps before, he couldn’t help but curse again, "Damn it, why didn’t you tell me sooner? Where’s the hot water bottle?"
She replied glumly, "I called you... but you didn’t answer..."
"Hot water bottle."
Skyler Jones’s indifferent voice brought her from the past back to reality.
The maid brought the hot water bottle, and he handed it to her.
She hesitated for a second, then took it.
Skyler Jones said nothing more and turned to leave.
"Thank you."
As he turned, she spoke to him.
Skyler Jones paused slightly but continued forward, responding faintly, "I’m not concerned about you, just don’t want you unable to leave tomorrow."
"I know." She didn’t think too much about it, nor would she. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Apply some heat... I’m going to shower first."
"Alright."
Once Skyler Jones entered the bathroom, Christine Quinn took several deep breaths.
After breathing deeply, the pain around her heart lessened, nothing serious.
Christine Quinn held the hot water bottle, then sat on the edge of the bed.
In the bathroom, the sound of him showering could be heard. She placed the hot water bottle on the bed and walked to the balcony.
Approaching an autumn night, the breeze on the balcony carried a bit of chill.
Christine Quinn crossed her arms over her chest against the brisk air, her gaze focused on the starry night visibly seen over the suburbs.
Tomorrow, she will leave this place, unsure if she’ll have a chance to return, though she thought perhaps she wouldn’t...
When he returns to Y City, she may still be alive, or she may no longer be in this world, but regardless, she will never return to New York, because even alive, she wouldn’t let Mrs. Geoffrey and Becca witness the end of her life.
Moist eyes were stung by the wind...
Suddenly, she felt a bit terrified of death because it meant she would never see the person she loves again.
Skyler Jones leaned back against the bathtub, eyes closed.
"Are you okay?"
"I’m not... I’ve been tormented these past two days."
He stood on the balcony of a hotel in New York, one hand in his pants pocket, chuckling softly to the person on the phone, "How so?"
"It’s not because of my period!!"
He frowned, "It came?"
The phone’s other end answered seriously, "Yes, it just came late..."
He furrowed his brow deeper.
She mumbled, "You can relax now, I’m not pregnant, you don’t have to become a father so soon..."
"I’m not young, girl."
"I don’t care if you’re young... anyway, I don’t want to be a mom now."
"Silly girl..."
"Why are you calling me silly?"
He gazed at New York’s dazzling nightscape, "Nothing... I miss you."
"Ah... ah... what did you say?"
"If you didn’t hear, forget it."
"So stingy, say it again..."
"Do you want to hear me say it again, or did you really not hear it?"
She laughed on the phone, "I... miss you too, it’s your fault for not letting me accompany you on the business trip."
He hadn’t refused, just thought she...
He thought if there really was a baby, he didn’t want her to be overworked.
"Do you truly miss me, or does your body miss me?" he teased.
"Creep!!"
"If you were here with me, tonight wouldn’t be just about being creepy."
"Oh, you’re so annoying, I’m not discussing this topic with you anymore." Talking about this, she only ends up being teased and losing out, "Oh, by the way, when are you coming back?"
"It’ll be another three or four days!"
"Oh... my stomach hurts, I’m not talking to you."
"Still hurts now?"
"Using the hot water bottle helps, but without you here, it seems to hurt a little more than usual."
He smiled, "Shall I come back now?"
She pouted and complained, "You’re not that nice." Her face flushed slightly, "Besides, you couldn’t for the next two days..."
He laughed and didn’t answer.
She finally said, "Alright, work hard, I’ll wait for you to come back obediently."
She would never have imagined that hours later, he would leave behind important work in New York, appearing before the door of her rented small apartment...
She was overjoyed, jumping into his arms as he carried her into the room.
How could he still remember these?
He opened his eyes, his expression somewhat annoyed.
Standing up from the bathtub, he stepped naked out of it, wrapped a towel around his lower body, and walked straight out of the bathroom.
He hadn’t expected her to already be asleep, lying sideways, looking peaceful.
He walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, sat on the lounge sofa, and lit a cigarette.
The smoke rose slowly, blurring his sharply defined features.
She wasn’t actually asleep; through her squinted eyes, she could still see him smoking, but the smoke made his handsome face indistinct.
She probably never told him, but he looked good when smoking, especially in the moment when he turned to light the cigarette...
The flame of the lighter could accentuate the contours of his face, making him appear more striking.
