Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 289 - 288: Library Cramming
Mia shared some interesting stories with Jensen Sterling.
Jensen sat quietly listening. When Mia stopped, she noticed Jensen gazing at her mildly with a sidelong glance. Mia looked at him in confusion. "What’s up, Mr. Sterling?"
"Did I get some food on my face?" she asked, lowering her eyes and gently touching her face.
There was nothing there.
Jensen: "Is there anything else besides these stories?"
Mia: "....." ??? She ran through her mind but found nothing else.
Jensen looked at the girl’s expression and then slowly said, "The things on the internet."
Mia let out an "oh," acknowledging it. She hadn’t considered it a big deal and didn’t give it much thought.
Mia took a spoonful of soup, had a sip, her eyelashes quivering slightly, and then said, "It’s not a big issue. Once the exam results are out, those rumors will naturally be dispelled."
Jensen gave the girl a glance without speaking and then lowered his gaze to hide the darkness in his eyes.
Just because his girl didn’t mind, doesn’t mean he wouldn’t.
If someone bullied his girl, thinking they could get away with it unscathed, is that possible!
In the following period, Mia was engrossed in reading, preparing for the end-of-semester exams at Aethelgard, paying no attention to outside events, completely unaware that one entertainment industry scandal after another was erupting in the past few days.
The entertainment industry was rarely this lively; most artists were on edge, acting more cautiously than ever, fearing they might accidentally expose something.
And those artists or companies that had secretly wronged Mia, whether big or small, all had their skeletons exposed.
For example, rumors about someone having an affair today, or another getting involved with a director to get on a show, or someone else previously bullying newcomers and acting high and mighty.
There were even scandals involving secret affairs being exposed by original partners who created quite a stir.
And there were pictures and solid evidence, causing many people to be disgraced overnight.
Even marketing accounts, not sure who had offended them, faced the deactivation of their follower-heavy accounts, and they didn’t dare make a sound.
As for the "lucky one" chosen by Mia, they were "lucky" enough to enjoy a few free days’ tour courtesy of the police station.
Mia was unaware of all this as she focused on her studies.
Jensen Sterling didn’t have any activities planned during this time, so the two mostly stayed at home.
Jensen would handle business matters, while Mia studied quietly beside him, occasionally asking Jensen a question or two.
The exams at Aethelgard were notoriously difficult. Even though Aethelgard students usually studied hard, the spectacle of cramming during finals was still quite grand.
So, even though Mia would read whenever she had time, she still needed to put in more effort if she wanted to rank among the top in her major.
That morning, Mia got up early. As soon as she stepped out of the bedroom, she saw Jensen.
"Mr. Sterling, I’m not staying home today. I need to go to the school’s library to find some materials, so you don’t have to wait for me at lunch," Mia said while putting on her shoes.
The weather had already turned to winter. Although the house was warm, Mia knew it was very cold outside. She was very afraid of the cold, so she wore an extra-thick outfit.
Mia put on a thick sweater and layered a large down jacket over it. The hood was lined with fluffy white fur.
She didn’t know which animal the fur came from, but it was very soft, and she liked it a lot.
After gathering her things and getting dressed, Mia was ready to go. However, when she opened the door, Jensen followed her out.
Mia: "Mr. Sterling?"
Jensen: "I’ll take you there."
Mia quickly shook her head. "No need, I can go by myself. You don’t have to send me, and it’s especially easy to get spotted during this time."
"I might end up reading at the library and could take a long time."
Jensen smiled, reached out, and put the hood up on her jacket. Mia already had a small face, and with the large hood, her face looked even smaller.
She slightly tilted her head up, her beautiful eyes blinking as she looked at Jensen.
Jensen lowered his gaze to look at the little girl, wrapped in a large down jacket, looking like a small soft kitty with her eyes darting around.
It made people want to cuddle her.
Jensen adjusted her hood, smoothing it out, and said, "You’ll be in and out in no time, let’s go."
Mia was a bit puzzled, but someone had already closed the door, heading outside.
....
It wasn’t until Mia reached the Aethelgard library that she understood what Jensen meant by his words.
Wearing a mask, she stood on the floor dedicated to her major’s books, surveyed the area, and saw people occupying all the seats with not a single free one. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Mia: "..."
She finally understood why Jensen said she’d be out quickly, because the library had no available spaces.
Mia had to abandon her initial plan, then went to find the book she needed. After borrowing it, she returned to the car.
Seeing the girl’s frustrated look, Jensen chuckled lightly, raised a hand to ruffle her hair, "No worries, I’ll have someone save a seat for you tomorrow."
Mia sighed, nodded, deciding to do just that.
She had been reading some documents lately, and needed a lot of books to reference, which was impossible to do at home, hence the library visit.
She knew it would be crowded during finals preparation, but never expected it to be this packed. She even got up earlier today, yet still found it fully occupied upon arrival.
"Are these books enough?" Jensen asked.
Mia glanced down, then shook her head, "Not enough, but I can only borrow this many."
Jensen: "Let’s go, I’ll take you somewhere."
Mia: "..." Hmm?
Jensen smiled and started driving.
.....
Mia looked at the library in front of her, surprised she turned to glance at Jensen.
Jensen: "A friend of mine owns this place. It’s recently closed, so there’s no one here. His collection is pretty complete. You can study here and go back to school tomorrow, okay?"
Mia nodded, "Yes, it’s great here."
In the vast library, with no one around, Mia wasn’t worried about being seen. She took off her mask and other accessories, then found many books and placed them on a table before opening her laptop to read and take notes.
Jensen sat across from her, picking up a book to read, occasionally glancing up at Mia.
It was as if he understood why campus couples enjoyed studying together at the library.
