Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 323 - 322: Morning Kiss
The next day
The weather started to clear up. Although it was still very cold, the heating was on in the room, so the cold outside didn’t affect the people inside at all.
Mia Sutton tossed and turned for a long time by herself last night, and the stuffed animals on her bed were all squished and tousled by her.
So when she opened her eyes, the sun had already risen quite high outside.
She lay quietly in bed, staring at the ceiling, with her thoughts slowly coming back. When Mia was finally fully awake, she couldn’t help but blush.
A slow smile spread across her lips as she buried her head back into the pillow, her previously neat hair now a tangled mess from her rubbing. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Mia lay on the bed for a long time, feeling as if happiness was about to overflow from her heart.
So this is what being in love feels like? Pretty nice, like being soaked in a jar of honey.
After lazing in bed for a long time, Mia finally fumbled for her phone to check the time; it was almost eleven o’clock.
Mia: "..." Did I wake up this late?
With that thought, she got up to head outside, but paused at the door, turning to go to the bathroom instead.
She didn’t look presentable enough to go out right now.
Standing at the sink, Mia held a toothbrush in her hand, brushing slowly, and gazed at her reflection in the mirror. Her eyes, like black gemstones, curved gently, filled with twinkling laughter that seemed ready to overflow.
After washing up, she sat at her dressing table, using a full set of skincare products, taking her skincare very seriously.
Her skin was good and very fair, so she didn’t need foundation or concealer.
Afterward, she tied her long hair into a high ponytail at the back of her head, looking very fresh.
She then applied a thin layer of nude lip gloss, which brightened her complexion and looked very natural.
When she was done, Mia looked at herself in the mirror.
Yes, perfect; she was undoubtedly naturally beautiful.
Praising herself without even a hint of embarrassment.
After a moment, Mia looked in the mirror, then lifted her hand, placing two fingers at the corners of her mouth and pulling them down.
She released them and let them curve back up again.
She pressed her mouth down with her hand again, released it, and it lifted back up once more.
After repeating this several times, Mia gave up, letting it be.
Then, very happily, she opened her room door and went out.
As soon as she stepped out, she saw Jensen Sterling sitting on the sofa, legs crossed, reading a magazine, probably about finance.
Seeing this, Mia tiptoed past him, thinking he hadn’t noticed her.
A mischievous smile on her lips, she walked behind him and quickly covered his eyes with her hands: "Guess who I am?"
Jensen had actually heard the footsteps long ago but didn’t expose her. With a smile tugging at the corner of his lips, he slowly said, "My little sweetheart?"
Mia: "Nope, I’ll give you another chance. Guess right and you get a reward."
Jensen chuckled softly, raising a hand to touch the fingers covering his eyes: "Then it’s my girlfriend?"
Mia’s breath caught, her fingertips tingling. A few seconds later, she sighed inwardly, realizing she still couldn’t match him.
"Alright, come sit." Jensen moved her hand from his eyes and pulled Mia over to sit beside him.
"Did you sleep well last night?"
Mia: "Um... okay?"
After speaking, the two met eyes for a couple of seconds, then laughed.
The magazine still lay on Jensen’s lap; he held Mia’s hand, gently stroking it with his fingertips, and asked, "Was I right just now?"
Mia smiled with her eyes, yet arrogantly said, "So-so."
"Where’s my reward?"
After a brief silence, Mia quickly stood up, planted a kiss on his cheek, and swiftly left. Her eyes crinkled into crescents: "Afternoon kiss."
Jensen raised an eyebrow slightly: "No good morning kiss?"
Mia: "...Morning’s already passed."
Seeing Jensen’s unwavering gaze, Mia sighed exasperatedly: "Fine, here’s your make-up kiss."
Saying this, she moved closer again, aiming for his cheek. Just as her lips were about to land, he slightly turned his head, causing the kiss meant for his cheek to fall on the corner of his lips.
Mia was about to speak, but the next second, her words were silenced.
Her eyes widened instantly.
After the kiss ended.
Mia sat far away from Jensen, her beautiful eyes glistening with a watery plea against him.
Jensen chuckled softly: "Now that’s a good morning kiss."
"Better get used to it."
Mia: "......" Suddenly, she regretted; what was happening?
If she hadn’t stopped him, would he have kissed her into oblivion?
Looking at him sternly, Mia said, "Mr. Sterling, at your age, you should be more composed. You can’t just demand good morning kisses on a whim."
Jensen’s fingers stiffened slightly, raising his eyes with a slight hint of danger: "...At my age?"
Mia: "..."
Someone was lectured a bit more.
Mia regretted it; she shouldn’t have teased him. She wouldn’t dare next time.
...
Speaking of which, it was one thing for Mia to tease, but Jensen indulged her, even participating in childish things like blindfold games. Indeed, love does make one’s IQ drop to a bare minimum.
Lunch was prepared by the housekeeper. After eating, the two sat together, each doing their own thing.
Having spent so much time together, they even shared similar eating habits. The housekeeper remarked, smiling, that they were starting to look more and more like a couple.
This period was close to the end of the year. Besides some activities with Mia’s group, they hardly took on any more business.
Moreover, it was cold outside, and Mia spent her days lounging at home, almost hibernating.
The days passed, and in the blink of an eye, it was almost New Year.
Days in advance, Mia started preparing things for the New Year, even making a checklist to buy items accordingly.
Sometimes, when inspired, she liked to tinker with things, and lately, she was fond of paper cutting for window decorations.
On the floor lay many sheets of red paper as Mia casually cut, a tutorial playing on her phone.
The video went too fast for Mia to follow clearly, and the first thing she cut open...
Mia: "..." Others had window decorations; she had created a mess.
Sternly she criticized herself.
But she kept at it, and after a few tries, she managed to cut something decently shaped. Triumphant, Mia, wearing slippers, happily took her creation to show Jensen.
Jensen glanced at it, reaching out to flick away a shred of paper stuck in her hair: "Hmm, it looks very nice."
