Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 337 - 336: Leading Man Candidate Jensen Sterling
Ian Lee held his phone, with the script in his other hand, flipping through it page by page while waiting for a response from the person on the other end of the call.
Jensen Sterling sat lazily in the chair, his long legs crossed, fingers tapping the armrest beside him, making crisp sounds.
"You found the lead actress?"
Ian raised an eyebrow slightly and said, "Yes, I found her, that’s why I’m reaching out to you now. So have you decided whether to take the role?"
Ian had been looking for Jensen Sterling since late last year, having seen many others but hadn’t found the right fit.
Initially, Ian had contacted Cameron Grant, but at that time Cameron was planning to sign Jensen Sterling on for another show, so this project was put on hold.
However, when Ian heard that Jensen Sterling had cleared his schedule, he contacted Jensen directly.
Since Ian hadn’t found a suitable lead actress and the shoot date couldn’t be fixed, he had mentioned it to Jensen back then.
He hoped that Jensen would consider it, and if shooting was decided, he could come. At the time, Jensen simply replied that they would talk once the lead actress was found.
Ian and Jensen had collaborated on more than one or two films, and their relationship was quite good. Ian genuinely felt that in today’s entertainment industry, no one but Jensen Sterling could deliver that needed presence.
For his movies, Ian always pursued perfection, which is why he took so long to cast the lead actress. Thus, for the lead actor, it had to be Jensen Sterling.
Jensen Sterling: "I’ve already said that I don’t want to do scripts with too much romance."
Ian probably smacked the table beside him, making some noise, speaking with a somewhat frustrated tone.
"I know, handling romantic scenes has never been your forte, but it’s been years, and you’ve done so many movies. You’ve mastered the art of acting. Just because it was difficult before doesn’t mean it still is now."
"How will you know if you don’t try? Besides, I thought you did a pretty good job in that last cameo role you had?"
Jensen Sterling: Because that person was Mia Sutton.
His eyes were deep, and his long fingers held the phone silently.
Ian: "Anyway, I’ve already told you, the lead actress is chosen. Come to my place the day after tomorrow and meet her. You can decide after you see her. Alright, we’ll leave it at that, goodbye."
After saying that, perhaps afraid Jensen Sterling would refuse, Ian quickly hung up the phone.
After hanging up, Ian threw the phone to the side and smiled.
Jensen Sterling would definitely come.
...
Indeed, Jensen Sterling frowned slightly at the disconnected call.
Having worked with Ian Lee more than a couple of times, he knew exactly what kind of person Ian was.
For the sake of his films, Ian was a madman. Since he had already decided on Jensen as the lead, he wouldn’t easily give up.
Besides, they could be said to have made each other. When Jensen Sterling wasn’t that famous, he starred in Ian’s film, becoming an overnight sensation. Meanwhile, Ian became known within the industry because of that film.
So, since Ian had said that, Jensen Sterling was definitely going to go.
However, he wouldn’t act in this film, which had extensive lead roles, including scenes with significant intimacy.
Not to mention that he originally didn’t have much interest in those scenes, now with Mia Sutton involved, he was even less inclined to do them.
...
On the third day, Mia Sutton went with Celine Thorne to Ian Lee’s place.
In the car, Mia Sutton sat in the backseat, holding her phone, eyes downcast, slowly scrolling through it, seriously focused.
Celine Thorne: "What are you looking at?"
Mia Sutton lifted her eyes slightly, then handed the phone over to her. "Reviews about Director Lawson."
The reviews praised Director Lawson as a late bloomer but a talented and rare genius.
However, they also said he had a quirky personality, was unpredictable, and had very high standards for actors.
There were even comments that during filming, there were more artists he made cry than one could count on ten fingers.
Mia Sutton: "...Celine, is Director Lawson really like this?"
Celine Thorne: "More or less, I’m not sure about other things, but there’s one thing I do know."
Mia Sutton curiously looked up and asked, "What is that?"
Celine Thorne casually replied, "That part about more actors being made to cry than you can count on ten fingers is true. Heard that during one of his movies, he got fed up because the lead actress kept messing up, so he started yelling, leading the actress to pay a penalty and leave the production."
Mia Sutton: "..."
She was silent for a long time before softly saying, "Then his yelling skills must be quite impressive."
To earn such a reputation is... quite an achievement.
Celine glanced at Mia Sutton, and slowly said, "What I’m getting at is that if he scolds you during filming..."
Before Celine could finish, Mia Sutton quickly added, "I understand, I won’t talk back."
"Besides, he might not be able to make me cry."
Celine looked at her and sighed, then said, "It’s not exactly like that. Though Ian’s temper is bad, it’s limited to filming. In other aspects, he’s alright, as long as you do your job well."
Mia Sutton nodded, indicating she understood.
Soon, they arrived at a residential complex. Presumably, Ian had given prior notice, so they were allowed in easily.
Ian’s home was a small villa. When Mia Sutton and Celine arrived, they saw Ian sitting on a chair with a thick book in hand.
This place was a space at the back of Ian’s villa, arranged with plants and a gazebo, full of poetic charm.
Butler: "Director Lawson, they have arrived."
Only then did Ian’s gaze leave the book. He took off his glasses, set down the book, and walked over.
Extending his hand, he smiled, "Agent Celine, hello."
Celine wore a polite smile and shook hands briefly, "Hello, Director Lawson, thank you for having us."
Ian waved his hand, signaling it was no trouble. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Then he looked to the side at Mia Sutton and asked with a smile, "Is this Mia Sutton?"
Mia Sutton smiled slightly and bowed, "Yes, hello, Director Lawson."
After exchanging greetings, Ian invited them to sit down.
The butler poured tea for them.
Ian looked at Mia Sutton again and gave an almost imperceptible nod. The last time he saw her was on stage, and all his previous understanding came from online sources.
Meeting her in person now, Ian was very satisfied, knowing he had chosen the right person this time.
