Cosmic Paragon-Chapter 102 - 101: The Arena
Chapter 102: Chapter 101: The Arena
Professor Herman stood in front of his class and asked.
"How are Black Gates formed?"
There were all kinds of responses from the students and the Professor nodded encouragingly at them. Most of them pointing to the first Black Gate’s calamity a thousand years ago, and spatial cracks.
He spoke when there were no more responses.
"Lots of people believe that Black gates are simply rifts in space that lead to the abyss caused by spatial cracks. But not all spatial rifts lead to the Abyss."
He continued, "There is a theory that our world and the abyss can be compared to two bubbles floating in the void. These bubbles will sometimes come in contact with each other, during contact these two bubbles will partially merge. It is this merger that creates rifts or as we call them Black Gates. During this contact the denizens of both worlds can cross between worlds. The ways we have found to close these gateways is to destroy them by bombing. When the nodes connecting both worlds are broken, then the two bubbles will separate once again. But why is it that this phenomena only started from a thousand years ago?"
All the students pondered this question in silence.
Professor Herman continued, "It is believed that until a thousand years ago, the used to be a thin veil that separated the two worlds. However, a thousand years ago during that unfortunate incident, this veil separating both worlds had been destroyed by that portal. If I were to use an analogy to describe it, I would say try to picture our world as a bubble inside a balloon. Now that spatial portal was like a needle poking the balloon blowing it up and exposing our world to the things outside."
All the students were enraptured by the lecture including Drake. This was quite the fascinating topic.
...
Drake returned to his dorm after class and sat in his bed after lunch.
’Today is the day.’ Drake thought.
There was only a little bit left for him to completely form the Aquarius constellation.
The others had all gone for training with Commander Seth so there was nothing to distract him for the next couple hours.
Drake took a deep breath and immersed his mind into the sea of stars behind the seal.
Finally, a few more ours later, the stars shone with radiance.
Drake completed the Aquarius constellation.
There had been too many arrangements to be made to form the constellation, and he had been doing too much. Especially with training and learning Magic skills over the past few days so it took longer to finish.
’Eyes of Order!’
Drake scanned through the giant Aquarius constellation and all the details of the constellation appeared before him.
...
Aquarius constellation:
Ability’s: Cosmic armor (Every attack received is like a drop of water disappearing into the sea of stars)
Special ability: Defense multiplier (All elemental powers can be merged into Cosmic armor to raise Armors defensive power.)
...
Drake activated the Power of the Aquarius constellation and violet energy surged out of the seal forming a thin Violet energy armor that was dotted with sparkling spots like starlight that flowed around through the armor like a swirling sea of stars.
It looked quite similar to his old Cosmic armor. Then only difference was that this Energy armor was dotted with stars.
Drake muttered, "The information of the Aquarius Constellation states that I can multiply the Cosmic armor’s defensive power by adding the power of other elements to it. Let’s try it out."
’Virgo constellation!’
Drake called out and gave a few mental orders.
’Barrier power!’
’Earth power!’
’Gravity power!’
’Radiant moonlight power!’
’Space power!’
’Time power!’
Drake added every power he controlled with the Virgo constellation and all the power merged into the Cosmic armor.
With every power he added, the Cosmic armor grew more and more radiant and the stars shone brighter and swirled faster.
Drake soon resembled a warrior of the starry sky, summoning the powers of the radiant galaxy.
Drake used the ’Eyes of Order to see just how much his defensive power had risen and the results shocked him.
For every elemental power he added the defensive power of his Cosmic armor doubled. By the time he had completely added all of them into his armor, his defensive power was so strong, that he got the intuition he could take an attack from a peak level 3 Star mage like Hancock would receive shells from a tank.
"Fucking Awesome!" Drake shouted in elation.
Drake liked the thought of having powerful defense. Even though he felt a bit discontent that all the constellations that he had formed so far all did nothing about raising his attack power, he was still happy with the powerful defense.
Plus he already had ’Earth Pulse’, while he had not completely mastered it yet, it was still a very powerful skill.
...
Drake continued with his daily routine in Alpha Academy.
Eating, Sleeping, Attending classes, Survival Training, learning Magic skills, Training with the guys and teasing the beauties.
At the same time he also kept training with the ’Earth Pulse’. He wanted to figure out how to regulate the power, so that he could reduce the strain it had on his body so he would not mistakenly kill himself in the process of using it one day.
Luckily, he had the ’Eyes of Order that allowed him to clearly see every detail, so he was making progress.
A few more days passed and soon the lock down on Alpha Academy was lifted,
Finally, students were allowed to exit the academy, and at the same time they could now receive guests.
Everybody was thrilled and it did not take an extra hour for the students to begin departing through the gates, while others were also receiving guests.
Sophia went home to see her Mom, while Cassandra and the Wolff Brothers also went their separate ways.
Cassandra left with Rufus and a few other Vampires while the Wolff Brothers went to see their Grandfather. Drake had to go with the Anders to the Obsidian Palace branch in Sanctuary city to report, so they were unable to meet the Werewolf family Alpha.
Anna was already in the top floor office at the Obsidian Palace’s building waiting for them and Peter and Paul were happy to see their mother again. However, they kept trying to act cool to show that they had grown up now and were no longer kids.
Unfortunately, they were unable to keep up the act for too long. The longer they spent talking to their mother the more excited they got and very soon the facade crumbled.
Anna just smiled all through it as the twins competed to tell her what happened to who and who did what.
Drake watched the animated kids chatting with their mother and for a second there he felt a bit envious.
After giving a brief report, he decided to leave the family to talk. He could see that their family reunion would not end anytime soon, so he excused himself.
Drake took a stroll around Sanctuary city, and soon arrived in front of the Starline Amusement park. Memories of the events that had gone down at this place and his close shave with death flashed through his mind. This was the place where he had gotten into his first true fight against a mage.
He also remembered that girl that he had fallen for on first sight.
Drake didn’t go into the park and walked away not long after.
He soon arrived at his destination about an hour after leaving Obsidian Palace.
THE ARENA!
The Arena was a giant structure that was over a thousand meters tall, and two and a half thousand meters wide. Standing around it’s walls, were giant Metallic sculptures depicting ancient Black Knights covered in full body armor and raising a shield with a sword sheathed in it to their chests.
As Drake walked in through the large gate into the Arena, he raised his head to stare at the two giant sculptures standing at both sides of the gates in marvel.
One had to admit; whoever carved these sculptures was a true maestro in the art of sculpting. They were so real and lifelike they gave off the impression like they would come to life at any moment.
The sculptures powerful imposing aura made one feel like they were being glared at by powerful primordial beasts and demons. And if you were to misbehave in any way, they would immediately charge and cut you down.
The cold glinting and chilling air coming off those armors made one feel trepidation from their souls. They planted the idea that the weapons must be terrifyingly sharp, and if they were to be drawn, then one slash could split anything.
After going in past the gates, Drake arrived at the reception hall. It wasn’t too beautifully decorated, but the adornments and arrangements gave off an intangible solemn aura of the battlefield that could ignite anyone’s hot blood and provoke their warlike spirit.
As expected, the entertainment industry is one of the most profitable lines of work.
The whole room was bustling with activity, with people lied up at the booths and some seated at tables enjoying refreshments.
There was a long counter right across the hall that sold refreshments and several booths lining the walls.
Drake walked to the counter and asked the lady standing behind the counter where the registration for the Grand mage tournament was then she smiled and told him that he could do it at any one of the booths.
There were lines at every booth, Drake thanked her and walked up to one that was having fewer people until it was soon his turn.
"Next!"
The thirty year old woman called out as Drake’s turn arrived.
