Courting Death System-Chapter 73: Tony (3)

"Is this me?" Tony asked himself because he just couldn’t believe it. He was beautiful, extremely so that if he walked out of the house, all the women would flock to him and that was speaking literally.

"That’s why we asked who you are? You’re just... too different, like a completely different person." said Justin.

"Don’t worry, even though my appearance has changed, I’m still the same person."

"Anyway, how did you conquer your nightmare?"

Tony then began to narrate the story of what happened in his dream without hiding anything because there wasn’t anything to hide and even if there was, he wouldn’t because he trusted these two people with his life.

"So what happened to the Lucid Flower?" asked Justin.

"I also don’t know, maybe it withered and died after boosting my strength to defeat the nightmare. And maybe the residual energy allowed for my current transformation."

"There’s too much mystery involved in this, Aunt Sara, Tony, I think it’s time you relocated. With Tony’s current appearance, city life isn’t for you." Tony remained silent while Sara contemplate for a moment.

"You’re right. Tony, I think it’s time we moved to the farm your father bought. I didn’t want to bring up this matter in the past but now, it’s time we left this place. Justin, I’ll write down the address for you, Tony, start packing while I go out to deal with some business."

"Okay." said Tony and his mother left his room, probably to freshen up before leaving.

"So, did you receive other benefits except for the playboy appearances."

"I don’t know, let me check." said Tony before closing his eyes and analysing himself. There didn’t seem to be anything special about his body which he already expected and then checked his Soul, that’s when he was stunned.

His Soul had completely transformed, instead of it being a small ball of blue light, it now looked exactly like the Lucid Flower he’d bought and it was fist sized, many times larger than his peach sized Soul initially. Not just that, there seemed to be something on one of the flower’s many roots.

Tony focused on that thing and was surprised to discover that it was actually the nightmare monsters he’d fought yesterday. Not just that, when he focussed his attention on it, information about the monster surfaced in front of him

There was a plethora of information regarding the Wendigo and Tony couldn’t believe it. What was more unbelievable was the fact that he actually managed to completely overpower such a powerful monster, overwhelming it to the point of begging for its life.

’What happens if I loosen the root around its neck and let it go?’ thought Tony and proceeded to do just that. Once he’d released the Wendigo from his root grip, his consciousness was pushed out of the Soul Space.

In the outside world, Tony suddenly opened his eyes, creating an awkward moment between him and Justin.

"What are you doing?" he asked Justin who had his hands on Tony’s chest.

"Hey, it’s not what you think, I was just making sure that you’re not a woman. Definitely not gay."

Tony was about to make fun of Justin but stopped when he felt a presence behind him, he looked back and there it was, the monster of his nightmares, the Wendigo. It completely towered over Tony, standing at a whopping two and a half meters and exuding a cold and bloodthirsty aura.

Sneeze*

"Is it me or has it suddenly become cold here?" said Justin while scratching his nose.

"Justin, can’t you see it?"

"See what?"

"The Wendigo, it’s literally right in front of you."

"Tony, what are you on about? What’s a Wendigo? Explain things clearly."

Tony then explained what he’d just seen in his Soul Space.

"Wow, you’re telling me that your Soul actually evolved and changed into a flower and that the nightmare in your dreams is captured by it and you can also summon it?!"

"That’s about right."

"Awesome, Tony, you know what this means right?"

"What?"

"It means you’re now a Mage and not just any Mage but a Summoning Mage and not just any Summoning Mage, a Summoning Mage who’s Summons are extremely overpowered and even invisible." said Justin in excitement.

"This means that you can register at the Academy as a Summoning Mage and we can finally go to school together. Finally, I can show you the girls I’ve been telling you about, show you my favourite getaway locations and even show you how amazing my Mage skills are! This is great! No! This is more than great."

"Justin, calm down for a second. How are we going to prove that I’m a Summoning Mage if people can’t see my Summons?"

"...Shit! Why didn’t I think about that? If only your Summon could cast spells or use magic." When Justin said this, Tony remembered an Ability/Skill the Wendigo had.

"I think it has something called Ice Element Manipulation, does that count for something?" asked Tony.

"Quick, get a glass of water, there’s only one way to find out!"

"Wendigo, freeze this water!" said Tony but the Wendigo ignored him and remained standing in its original position.

"Wendigo, I said freeze this water!" he shouted but the Wendigo still ignored him. Getting frustrated, Tony gazed coldly at the Wendigo and it gazed back at him with its blue dots for pupils. Justin was internally shocked by Tony’s sudden change in tone and demeanour.

"I said freeze that water and do it right now!" he commanded and the Wendigo finally budged and walked to the water and touched the surface of the water with a long nail and the water instantly froze the water.

"It works! It actually works! Tony, our plan worked. Time to tell aunty the good news!"

When Tony thought about telling his mother the news, he didn’t look as happy nor as excited as Justin.

"What’s wrong?" asked Justin.

"I don’t think mother will agree to the idea of me going to the Magic Academy, after all, father died while working as a teacher there and I’m now following in his footsteps."

"Tony, don’t assume what she will or will not think, just ask her and hear what she says. Or are you making excuses because you don’t want to go to the Academy with me?"

"No! It’s just that... haa, fine, I’ll talk to her and hear what she has to say."

"Good. Now tell me, what other abilities does your Summon have?"

"The Soul Freezing Roar but I don’t think this one is safe, how about the Fear Devourer ability, try that one."

"Wendigo, activate Fear Devourer." when Tony commanded it to use this ability, Tony was sure that it looked excited, he was sure that he saw it grinning.

’That’s definitely not a good sign.’

BELLLLLLOW!!!

The Wendigo released its scary bellow and its dark aura pulsed outwards then disappeared. The duo waited for some time but nothing happened

"Nothing is happening. Are you sure it activated the ability?"

"Positive."

What the duo didn’t know was that just because they weren’t affected by the ability didn’t mean that everybody wasn’t affected by it. Tony had woken up his mother and friend while it was still dark outside and still is. An ominous aura covered the entire city and entered people’s houses. Once in, it floated above their heads before invading them. These people then started having bad dreams, some screamed in fear while others were sweating from fear, a few convulsed and the worst thing was that no one was there to wake them up.

After about five minutes or so, the ominous aura moved out of their bodies and flew towards where Tony lived. The Wendigo then opened its mouth and swallowed a massive black cloud that was formed with what seemed to be people’s fears. Tony could see spiders, rats, men, women, knives, cockroaches and all kinds of other things. These were the fears that the Wendigo had collected through the Fear Devour ability.

As the Wendigo devoured the ominous cloud, Tony’s strength began to increase, from Lvl 0 to Lvl 1 and from Lvl 1 to 2 and it kept on increasing without indication of stopping anytime soon.

"Justin, my strength is increasing rapidly. I don’t know what the Wendigo did but my strength is increasing. This is amazing, no, this is magical." said Tony in excitement.

"What, are you serious?! Are you telling me that right now, you’re growing stronger as a Mage?! Quick, what’s your current level?"

"Lvl 5, I think it’s gonna stop once I reach the halfway point of a One Star Mage. I can feel great strength coursing through my body, I feel like I can dominate the world!"

"Wait, why would you think that?"

"Because that’s what I always wanted to do. Justin, you’ll support me right, let’s take over the world and rule it. This way, you’ll get any girl you like, anything you want."

"Tony... are you serious?"
