Craved by the Wrong Volkov-Chapter 229: Why?
Raphael’s POV
"I saw you Lynn..I don’t know how, but I did..." I said carefully. Braelyn went silent, unable to believe her ears.
"That’s not possible... it’s a lie, right?" she nervously said. Staring at me, hoping I would laugh and say I was joking.
But everything I said was the truth, at least the one I believed. She stared at me, and something flickered in her eyes. She went quiet..
"So that’s how you easily get her to bed?" She asked bitterly. The hatred in her voice was real. She was confused...
"Things are crazier. You wouldn’t believe it all but everything I say is the truth." I whispered. "I am not saying this for you to forgive me. It doesn’t change the fact that I fucked Amelia or hurt you. I want you to know what I am protecting you from..."
My voice broke. "At least I thought I was protecting you..." My voice trailed off, going back to the memories of that night.
*******
My first instinct was to go there and beat that bastard. I stared hard at her. Unless I had gone confused and couldn’t recognise the woman I was married to anymore. But I was more than convinced that it was my Lynn. My attention was on her everything faded off
She hung up the call and glanced at Richard, her back was against the wall. I rushed for the handle but froze halfway..
My hand hovered over the door handle, heart hammering in my chest, the world shrinking to that single, unbearable image.
Braelyn laughed at something he said. Not the soft, shy laugh that used to melt me, but a confident, teasing laugh that I couldn’t hear clearly... yet I knew it was for him. Richard. That smug bastard.
He wrapped an arm around her, possessively and too close. The next thing I saw made my stomach twist violently.
He kissed her. A slow kiss that made my entire body ache with rage, betrayal, and shame. My mind screamed, demanded I step forward, grab her, shake her, stop this, but my body... betrayed me.
I was frozen like a coward. I couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t decide if I wanted to flee or attack. My hands shook, jaw tight, every muscle taut with a panic I hadn’t known I carried.
She pulled back, smiling, leaning into him. The sight ripped me apart from the inside. I couldn’t hear the words, but the way they leaned, the way she tilted her head. My chest clenched as my heart ripped she just said she loved me but here she was in another man’s arms.,
She turned, and before my eyes could fully comprehend what was going on, she slid into her car. The emerald S-Class gleamed under the harsh parking lights. Richard opened her door for her, her hand brushed his as she stepped in and then she was gone. Driving away.
Richard smiled and walked over to his own car, and also drove away, completely unaware that I watched them the entire time.
I didn’t move. My hands were still inches from the door handle. My chest burned. My mind screamed at me to chase, to roar, to demand the truth, but my body refused.
I don’t know how long I sat in my car watching the spot her car was staring at the tyre marks it left behind until Amelia spoke...
"Raphael.." she carefully called as if snapping me from my daze. Her voice was ruthless when she added.."Your innocent wife, were fooling you all along."
I sat back, head against the headrest, just staring blankly at the headboard. Sensing my silence, she continued..." I knew that bitch..." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
I didn’t let her finish my hand clamped around her neck before she could say a word more
"No one gave you the right to speak about My Lynn," I said through gritted teeth. My sanity was slipping, and my grip tightened. Her eyes popped out. Her hands scratched my hold trying to free herself
"Let go." She begged, tears blurred her eyes as she squirmed. I was this close to killing Amelia and if I had it would have saved me from the impending storm but the first blood that could stain my hands couldn’t be herself
I had to remain logical to handle this situation. I let go of her neck, and she crumpled to her seat, gasping for air. "Get out.." I said quietly
She stared at me in disbelief. "You can’t possibly..."
I didn’t let her finish.."Get out, Amelia." I repeated with the same calm voice. She saw the madness in my eyes and quietly stepped out. As soon as she was out I drove off...
I didn’t know where I was going. I drove in circles trying to get my rage to simmer before heading back home because only God knows what might happen if I go home like this....
It was past midnight by the time I arrived at the estate..I hadn’t tasted a single drop of alcohol except from the glass I had at the event, which I barely sipped, but it felt like I was drunk.
I parked at the garage instead of the entrance since it was past midnight and the servants were asleep. There I saw her car parked. I got out and noticed the tyre marks on the floor.
I stalked towards the car and touched the bonnet, the engine was a bit warm, almost cold, proving it’s been a while since she returned.
I sighed in exhaustion, eating me up, then stalked into the silent building, making my way to the bedroom. I pushed the door open and there she was lying on the bed sleeping peacefully after crashing my world
She stirred a bit sensing the lights from the corridor. I didn’t even know if she was putting on an act or not but I couldn’t walk towards the door...
Instead, I closed the door and went to my study. There was one doubt I had to clear because a part of me didn’t want to believe it.
I settled in my seat and turned on my laptop, getting into the CCTV cameras.
Braelyn didn’t like the idea of cameras in the building, so all the cameras were outside. I rewound the camera playing it backwards until I saw Braelyn’s car drive in and head straight to the garage. I continued backwards for an hour after I left home for the event
That was when the car left the house. At that moment every doubt I had truly evaporated.
Without a doubt, I had thought my wife was cheating on me....
Why? I had thought
