Craved by the Wrong Volkov-Chapter 260: The battle begins
Lucien watched her get into the same home she knew was a cage, the taste of her lips lingered on his lips. The car still carried her faint scent and he wished it would never fade.
He smiled, doing his absolute best not to laugh.
He wondered how deep her ties with Raphael were, and he understood Lynn enough to know she was in doubt. He stopped the car engine and just leaned back against the seat his gaze locked ahead staring into oblivion
Everything started going through his mind. It was fine, he meant what he said about keeping his promise.
Since she couldn’t choose, he would help her choose. She claims that what ties her to this marriage was the shares and her inheritance; he wondered if she would have anything to say when those precious shares aren’t worth anything.
With his resolution settled Lucien started the car and reversed. "You forced me to do this Viper.." he muttered, his grip tightened on the steering wheel.
He was going to burn everything and buy every single property under Braelyn’s trust fund. He would love to see the excuse she would make after that. Even if he had considered showing a bit of mercy to the Volkov family, he was left with no choice...
He wanted everything Raphael had and it wasn’t because of revenge. No this was greater than revenge.
In the dark of the night, his car zooms off.

The next morning a sharp ringing tone tore through the room. Braelyn’s brows pulled together, the sharp irritating sound gave her a throbbing headache.
She rolled over to reach for her phone but in her drowsy state only ended up knocking it to the floor. The crash jolted her awake, she sat straight on the bed and bent over to pick up her phone which fell from the side drawer to the floor.
Luckily it wasn’t major damage. The screen was still intact. A sharp hiss escaped her lips, and she grabbed her head massaging her throbbing temples. Her fingers quickly checked her call log to confirm it was Juliette, her secretary.
Her sleepy head was completely cleared. Braelyn was puzzled why Juliette was calling her. The time was almost 11 am. She slept in late but that’s no reason for Juliette to call her...
She immediately returned the call, and Juliette picked up on the first ring. "Good morning Mrs Volkov.." she urgently said.
"Good morning Juliette. Is there an emergency?" Braelyn went straight to the point. She could sense Juliette’s tension over the phone.
"Yes, there is an emergency board meeting. I have been trying to get to you for over an hour." She explained. Braelyn immediately became alarmed. Her thoughts wandered around as dread mixed with a sick excitement crawled into her stomach
"Do you have any idea the reason for the emergency meeting?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Juliette went quiet for a moment before adding in a whisper. "I am not sure of the details but the entire company is whispering about the New Horizon threat at the summit not being a bluff.."
Braelyn’s eyes went wild as her grip tightened on the phone. It was happening.. " I will be there soon," she replied then hung up the call. Braelyn slipped off the bed. A frown still remained on her face.
How did she get to the bedroom? She wondered. She remembered falling asleep on the couch because Raphael wouldn’t bulge a muscle. Her chest tightened. Raphael was the one who carried her here and also changed her clothes..
The thought left a twisted feeling that made her mouth taste awful. She shrugged it off and quickly got ready for work.
As expected Raphael had long gone to work. The butler Joshua informed Braelyn
Braelyn’s heels sparked against the floor in sharp clicks as she rushed towards the garage like she was going for battle.
"Madam, you should at least eat something. Joshua suggested. Braelyn didn’t bother, time wasn’t on her side unfortunately.
"I am already late for a meeting," she replied as she arrived at the driveway. A chauffeur was already waiting for her.
Joshua had to sigh, then gave a subtle bow as Braelyn stepped into the car. "Good morning Madam. " The chauffeur greeted her while holding the door for her. Braelyn nodded and stepped inside. The door was shut and the chauffeur hurried to the driver’s seat
The car drove off. The ride was a blur. Braelyn’s thoughts were on a speed rail, she was secretly thrilled wondering what Lucien had installed. A dark thought crossed she wondered how the family members would handle this...
The car finally slowed down at the main entrance and the door was pulled open for her. The towering building stood before her.
She’s small frame felt intimidated, something was different about the air today. The tension lingered in the air. She took in a deep breath then walked through the door.
Everyone paid respect to her as she walked past. Today felt like a big day, Braelyn felt it was suitable to take the executive’s elevator, which she normally dreaded.
The doors slid open and she stepped into the elevator. Braelyn’s heart was racing so fast it felt like it would leap out. Her eyes remained stuck on the elevator number until it slid open on the executive’s floor.
Her heels clicked against the floor, the air here felt more tense than the rest of the company. Braelyn quickly found her way to the conference room
The door was left open. She stepped inside, her nerves crawled up her skin. Eyes turned to her immediately, her breath caught in her throat at the dreadful realisation she was the last to arrive. Even Ronan was already seated.
She forced a smile and took the only empty seat beside Raphael. "You should have rested at home." He whispered as she sat by his side. Raphael was calm, calmer than normal. Just that statement from him made Braelyn certain things weren’t looking good.
Lucien was already present sitting at the end of the left row. The entire room was thick with pressure
Raphael’s chair screeched as he stood up and walked to the front his gaze darted around the table noting everyone’s expression
"Today’s meeting was called because of an impending crisis as most of you know our stocks suffered a dip this morning.." Raphael started, exhaustion was framed on his face but his tone was firm.
Lucien almost smirked, he wondered how long his dear nephew would withstand the pressure.
"This was caused because of the threat
New Horizon delivered at yesterday’s summit and from the look of things it wasn’t a buff.." Whispers started to fly in the room
A new company was truly targeting Volkov Apex. It felt ridiculous but it was the truth. .
