Cultivating in the Wizard World-Chapter 260 - 231: Island and Evolution
The massive amount of Life Energy "wasted" and "dissipated" during the spellcasting of those pseudo-wizards was actually "sacrificed" in an extremely covert manner to the illegal wizard behind them.
Since there is such a constant "network cable" connection between both sides, the other party can naturally detect through the sudden death of these "base stations."
Thus, they can perceive the wizards’ search trails, make early predictions, and evade them.
The wizard squad they encountered earlier had been pursuing them all the way from another continent.
While flying at high speed, Jeming and David summarized and compiled the information exchanged with them with their findings over the past two years.
All clues pointed like rivers converging into the sea to the same area.
"Confirmed." Jeming’s eyes flickered with an ocean of data streams, "That illegal wizard should now be hiding on an inconspicuous deserted island in the middle of the ocean!"
Jeming had spent two whole years, using his vast calculation power as a Second Level Wizard, along with the capabilities of the "All-Purpose Eye", to finally decode the strange Life Energy transmission path and trajectory of the opponent.
Moreover, Jeming successfully used this invisible "network cable" to trace back and locate the approximate coordinates where the illegal wizard was now hiding!
With a rough position, Jeming and David quickly reached the target sea area.
After crossing a certain climate belt, the ocean weather immediately turned harsh.
Storms raged, and dark clouds hung over the sea like lead blocks.
The two soon arrived at the target site, surrounded by storms and reefs.
In the midst of the violent storm and thunderclouds, a pitch-black island radiating ominous energy loomed in and out of view.
Just as they were about to directly charge into the desolate island, unsurprisingly, they encountered massive frenzied resistance on the periphery!
"Here they come!" David shouted in a low voice.
Distorted figures broke through the murky seawater.
They sensed the overwhelming Life Energy emanating from Jeming and David, flying towards them like sharks that smelled blood, blocking their path.
They were a group of pseudo-wizards, appearing as if their Life Energy had been completely drained, like dried corpses!
Though no normal Life Energy fluctuations could be felt from these people, they seemed to retain residual combat consciousness and extremely powerful mobility.
What surprised Jeming even more was that judging by the pure and violent Negative Energy emanating from their bodies, each pseudo-wizard here had firmly reached the level of a Second Level Wizard!
More importantly, this was not all.
Besides the dozen or so humanoid pseudo-wizards at the forefront, behind them were possibly over a thousand creatures, densely packed, clearly transformed from various powerful marine life forms!
They also had shriveled bodies, as if drained of flesh and blood, yet the powerful energy fluctuations inside them were no weaker than the humanoid pseudo-wizards.
A battle was on the verge of breaking out!
Jeming and David charged forward almost without any exchange!
Boom!
David led the charge, and his menacing black heavy armor roared with a dull boom.
His fighting style was wild, not like a wizard at all, more like a humanoid tyrannosaurus.
No incantations, no magic; he directly crashed into the densest group of monsters!
The heavy fist, wrapped in solid earthy yellow energy, struck out, instantly shattering the head of a giant whale corpse-like monster, as hard as fine steel, like a fragile clay pot.
A powerful sidekick, accompanied by a gust of fierce wind, directly broke three humanoid pseudo-wizards in half, their remaining bodies turning to ash in the air.
Every one of his attacks was simple, brutal, efficient, and purely extreme in its power, creating clear void zones amidst the dense crowd of enemies!
Meanwhile, Jeming, after a swift assessment of the situation, surprisingly engaged alongside David instead of casting spells from afar.
Upon contact, Jeming immediately felt immense pressure.
Jeming keenly noticed that the strange Negative Energy emanating from these monsters had a very strong corrosive effect on Energy Shields, as well as a significant erosive effect on the Life Energy of those being attacked.
The thick-skinned and heavily muscled sea beast corpses roared, forming a solid wall of flesh, using their massive bodies to withstand Jeming’s attacks and impede his movement.
From behind, the humanoid pseudo-wizards furiously unleashed a barrage of pitch-black fireballs.
These fireballs were not only immensely powerful but also carried a bone-chilling cold and intense Life Energy draining effect.
Most troubling was their indiscriminate attacks, rampantly covering the entire front line battlefield.
Strangely though, the black flames burning on those sea beast corpses and pseudo-wizards themselves not only failed to harm them but acted like the finest tonic, rapidly repairing the damage inflicted by Jeming and David!
"Damn it! So troublesome!" Jeming cursed under his breath, his figure flickering swiftly amidst the dense rain of fireballs.
Initially, the all-pervasive Life Energy erosion slightly slowed his movements.
A cold, weakening sensation constantly attempted to infiltrate his body, draining his strength.
But the next moment, his Body Refining Technique, honed through countless hardships, began to operate on its own.
Faced with the external strange energy stimulus, each cell in his body seemed to awaken like a gluttonous beast from slumber, frantically analyzing, deciphering, and memorizing the characteristics of this Negative Energy.
Subsequently, he began to autonomously adjust his body structure, developing strong resistance!
In the fierce high-speed movements and battles, Jeming’s body was undergoing an intense evolution invisible to the naked eye.
The sluggish sensation brought by Life Energy erosion rapidly faded, and the icy weakness vanished like a receding tide.
In merely a dozen breaths, from initially needing to divert his attention to resist, to later just feeling a slight discomfort, until finally—
Buzz!
An invisible barrier formed within his body!
The Negative Energy erosion, which was like a bone maggot, now touched his body, as helpless as a stream crashing against an unyielding rock, unable to move him an inch!
In just a few hours, Jeming had completely immunized himself against this Energy.
"Hoo..."
Jeming exhaled deeply, a brilliant light flashing in his eyes.
The final restraint had been broken, instantly transforming his combat style.
His speed suddenly elevated by a tier, his figure turning into hard-to-capture blurred afterimages, perfectly dodging the majority of Fireball attacks.
On his hands, a highly concentrated Energy Force Field, shining with complex brilliance, instantly covered them, no longer simply a Shield, but transformed into the sharpest weapon.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Every strike became precise and lethal.
No longer needing to smash the entire monster, his hand blade, covered with the Rune Force Field, became the sharpest Light Blade, accurately cutting through the neck of the humanoid Pseudo-Wizard, or the Energy Core of the Sea Beast corpses.
With each flicker, the Soul Fire of a monster instantly extinguished, the stiff corpses dropping from the sky like dumplings.
The pressure instantly shifted to the monster’s side!
Jeming and David, one agile, one fierce, like two red-hot sharp knives, slashed into the butter-like enemy formation, rapidly breaking through to the depths!
After a considerable amount of time, when the last unwilling howl faded in the Storm, the sky finally returned to calm once more.
On the sea surface, countless broken, dried-up corpses were floating.
Jeming and David had finally cleared away the vast "legion" of enemies on the periphery.
The two hovered in mid-air, an astonishing Evil Qi still emanating from them.
They exchanged a glance, and without a moment’s rest, transformed into streaks of light again, flying toward the island shrouded under dark clouds!
...
...
Passing through the line of death, stepping onto the island’s land, an unsettling silence emanated from beneath their feet.
The island had no vegetation; not even resilient moss could be found.
Only the black, seemingly scorched rock, with the air thick with a bloody and decaying scent.
Upon reaching the island’s center, Jeming and David finally saw the unassuming figure standing at its center all along.
The person’s body looked quite normal, even healthy.
Rosy skin, well-proportioned limbs, completely unlike the monsters outside whose Life Energy had been entirely drained, leaving them skeletal.
Their appearance was equally unremarkable, dressed in simple grey clothing, face etched with the marks of time.
At a glance, just like an ordinary farmer who had worked the fields all his life.
However, this very person emitted a palpably potent Energy fluctuation!
In Jeming’s eyes, the Energy flow on this person’s body was wildly fluctuating, with various data in his mind madly refreshing like a waterfall.
Carefully sensing that vast yet solid Energy fluctuation, his expression suddenly turned dark.
He couldn’t help but turn his head, lowering his voice to David beside him, complaining in frustration: "The academy’s intelligence department can collectively resign this time! This guy isn’t some Second Level; he’s clearly a genuine Third Level!"
Moreover... not just newly-entered Third Level!
Luckily, the other party seemed to use the Wizard System merely as a means to enhance power, without seriously studying it.
David did not answer, only slowly shook his head, his gaze hidden beneath the faceplate of Heavy Armor was exceptionally complex.
He was neither surprised nor afraid, just quietly gazed at that familiar yet unfamiliar figure below.
The two slowly descended from mid-air, landing on the hard black rock, producing a slight sound.
The three figures formed a standoff in this deathly silent island center.
