Chapter 140: Chapter 139: Arriver to South River City (2)

When night came, everyone went to bed leaving Liu Xiong to direct the carriage. The amazing thing about the carriage, is that even though the carriage was flying at high speeds, it was completely stable.

Liu Xiong yawned and stretched his body. His eyes opened as he heard someone coughing from next to him. He turned his head and saw Li Yujian standing next to him, looking at him thoughtfully.

Liu Xiong smiles: "Oh, if it isn’t young master Li. Why are you out here? You should be resting in the cabin."

Li Yujian: "I couldn’t sleep. The night air is quite refreshing, so I came out." He looked at the sea of clouds passing beneath them with a distant expression.

Liu Xiong couldn’t help but shook his head helplessly. Li Jain children were the only kids he’d met that didn’t act like their age. Always worrying about the unnecessarily. But then again, it could be because he hasn’t interacted with most kids.

"How much longer until we reach South River City." Li Yujian asked.

"If we continue at this speed, we should arrive by tomorrow morning, which is three hours from now." Liu Xiong said, then added awkwardly: "But we’re not in a hurry. Is the young master hungry?"

"Why are you acting so weird? Did you perhaps lose your way?"

Liu Xiong: "..."

"You did, didn’t you?" Li Yujian pressed on.

Liu Xiong: "Well, not intentionally. I’m not used to these roads. After going in circles a few times, I finally managed to get this map."

"Where did you buy a map at this hour of the night?" Li Yujian asked in surprise.

"I never said I bought it." Liu Xiong said with a smirk.

Li Yujian looked at him with a strange expression, as if he wanted to say something but held back. Since Liu Xiong didn’t buy the map, then he probably robbed someone for it. But there’s no need pointing that out.

"Is this the fastest the carry can go?"

"No, but your father said we should arrive tomorrow morning. So, I’m maintaining this speed."

Li Yujian nodded in understanding and sat down next to Liu Xiong. He didn’t know why his father insisted that they should arrive in the morning. But looking at it from a broad point of view, it is better to reach in the morning than in the night.

Li Yujian: "Father probably has his reasons. Arriving at dawn is better than causing a scene in the middle of the night."

"Indeed. I’m not sure about how the inspection works at South River City gate. But it’s still much better to blend in with the morning crowd."

"When I think about it, I find it interesting. When he left South River City, left in a broken carriage with people pointing fingers at us. We didn’t have anything to rely on. The sky that day was very gray. Now, although we’re returning because you broke down our house, the situation is much different. I wonder how those guys in the main family would react. I’m sure the words have reached them already." Li Yujian said while looking at the horizon. No one could tell what was on his mind.

Liu Xiong: "..."

Liu Xiong didn’t comment and looked at the boy beside him. He couldn’t help but feel that he was too mature for his age. He even suspects that this maturity has nothing to do about the suffering they went through, rather, he was born this way.

Ordinary children would be excited about traveling, but Li Yujian was only thinking about their arrival and how to slap people in the face.

"Why don’t you go back inside and rest? I’ll handle things from here." Liu Xiong suggested.

Li Yujian shook his head: "I’m fine. I want to see the sunrise from up here. It isn’t every day one gets to see the world from this height."

Liu Xiong: "..." What do mean it’s not every day one gets to see the world from this height? You literally take this flying carriage to school every day!

Those are words Liu Xiong wanted to say, but he chose not to say anything more. Since the little master wanted to stay, he wouldn’t force him to sleep. He turned his attention back to the map he had "borrowed" earlier.

The path ahead was clear. As long as he follows the flow of trees below, they shouldn’t get lost again. But that wasn’t the main reason why he got lost many times before. It’s just that some troublesome fellow kept blocking his path, and when he left to take care of them, the carriage without direction would take its own path.

"So, when you married my father, I’m going to be calling you big daddy?" Li Yujian suddenly said.

Liu Xiong was injecting spiritual energy into the horses when Li Yujian suddenly asked. He was startled and mistakenly injected too much spiritual energy, causing the flying horses to jerk suddenly.

Liu Xiong: "..." At least give him a warning. You can’t just ask questions like this from the blue. Liu Xiong felt as if he had been struck by a bolt of lightning. He wasn’t familiar with Li Yujian, and although he had been with them for a little over four months, he and this child haven’t said much to each other.

That’s why he’s always caught off guard whenever Li Yujian speaks to him.

Liu Xiong: "Little master, you’re overthinking things. Your father... doesn’t have that kind of thought about me."

Li Yujian looked at him with an expression that said, ’are you stupid’. From his observation, his father is close with Liu Xiong. Even when interacting with the others, he always keeps an appropriate distance.

His calmness only made Liu Xiong feel more flustered. Of course, Liu Xiong was happy that the children recognized him. Being in a relationship with Li Jain, this is the first and hardest phrase to pass.

From his observation with the children, they all looked up to Li Yujian and held his opinion in hard regard. So, once Li Yujian approves something, then it’s a done deal.

"Is that so?" Li Yujian stares at Liu Xiong as if he was trying to see through him: "Dad seems to trust you the most and he’s always in a good mood when you’re around. Sometimes when you stay too long on a mission, he worries about you. And he doesn’t do that with uncle Ding. If he doesn’t like you, then why is he going through the trouble?"

Liu Xiong was speechless. How should he respond to this?

But Li Yujian wasn’t done yet. He held his chin and thought for a moment before saying: "Since you are older and stronger than him, ’big daddy’ is the most suitable title for you. I should start calling it often to get used to it." The last sentence was said in a murmur.

Liu Xiong cleared his throat with a light cough: "Cough, little master, I appreciate your support. But things are more complicated than that. Right now, your father and I are only comrades."

Li Yujian was stunned and stared at Liu Xiong with an unreadable expression: "You two are so strange. Forget it, I’ll go inside and check on the others. We are almost at the gate."

Li Yujian stood up and stretched his small body. He didn’t wait for Liu Xiong’s response before walking back into the large cabin. He knew Liu Xiong didn’t want to be rushed in assessing the situation, or rather, he didn’t feel comfortable talking with him. After all, he wasn’t as approachable as his brothers. Even Li Cheng does better in that area than him.

But what Li Yujian didn’t admit was that he likes Liu Xiong and wanted to be closer to him.

Liu Xiong watched his back disappear and sighed helplessly. Dealing with strong enemies is much easier than dealing with this one child’s logic. He decided that he should make an effort to get close to Li Yujian once they settled in South River City or at least get to know the kid.

When he reached the city gate, he slowed down and landed the carriage. The city gate has a formation barrier above it, and without an authorized pass, any entry would be seen as a violation.

As soon as the carriage landed, two guards came forward. Liu Xiong got out of the carriage. Unlike order carriages that have a seat in front, right next to the horses. With this one, the driver can sit in the cabin.

One of the guards looked at the luxurious looking carriage and at Liu Xiong’s simple robe and frown: "Show your identification and city pass before you can enter the city."

Liu Xiong was silent for a moment. He had never been to South River City, so he doesn’t have any official documents. Just as he was thinking about how to handle the situation, Li Jain came out.

Unlike Liu Xiong’s simple robe, Li Jain was well dressed. It seems that he wanted to make a good impression, or Li Zhang simply forced him to dress up.

The city guards saw that Li Jain’s temperament was extraordinary, so he became more cautious.

"Sir, we are just doing our duty. Without a pass, we cannot allow you to enter the city." The guard who spoke earlier immediately softened his tone.

"I understand. I am Li Jain, a young master from the Li family. I left the city a few years ago with my children. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any official documents with me. But I received this letter from my grandfather, asking me to return to the city." Li Jain took out the letter and how the guards.

The guards didn’t need to see the content of the letter, because they recognized the seal.

"Please forgive my rudeness. You may enter." The guard immediately reacted and bowed.
