CURSED CHILD POV...

CONTINUATION
Then finally, it was me.
I stepped forward slowly and knelt on the cold ground. My legs trembled, and my chest felt tight.
"Quick, say a prayer!" a cold voice barked from behind me heavily, making me quiver in fear.
I had no choice. I bent forward immediately.
"Mighty gods of our land," I whispered, my voice shaking, "you are merciful in all your doings, the ones who cherish us more than ourselves and mothers. I confess to you..."

I knelt as I prayed inwardly, my mind muddled, worn thin by how many times I had already performed this ceremony of repentance over the past few years.
Even when I stammered over my words, there were usually no mistakes—at least none that mattered.
"It can’t be right?!"
"That thing?"
"We’ve found it!"
While I was still praying, a strange prickling sensation crawled over my skin. I slowly opened my eyes and realized the atmosphere had changed for some reason. The shouting voices echoed sharply, cutting through the silence.
The gazes that met mine made my breath hitch. The way everyone looked at me now was nothing like before. Their eyes were cold—filled with hatred, contempt, and something far worse.
They stared at me like vicious wolves, making every hair on my body stand on end.
"What’s going on?"
I asked in confusion, lifting my head bit by bit, unaware of what was happening and staring ahead in a daze.
The moment I raised my head, the words in my mouth dried up. The crimson fire that had once felt calm suddenly shifted—from cold to unbearably hot. The terrifying heat made cold sweat break out all over my body.
"He is the foreign source!"
Before I could react, a pair of powerful arms seized me instantly. With a powerful force and fingers clamping tightly around my neck, leaving barely any space to breathe. My vision blurred as my entire body was yanked into the air.
The EYES OF THE GODS stood before me.
The man who always wore a warm smile now looked incomparably frigid and cold. Through my fading sight, I barely saw my father wailing before I was slammed heavily into the ground.
The villagers recoiled, isolating my family as if we carried some terrible plague.
"No! Please—once more! Please try it once more! My son would never act against the gods!" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
My father’s cries echoed in my ears, but the grip on my neck tightened until I felt suffocated.
Then, suddenly, the hand released me, making fresh air rush into my lungs. Tears and mucus streamed down my face as I collapsed to my knees, gasping.
"Speak, child,"
The EYES OF THE GODS commanded, his brow creasing as he looked down at me.
"How did you go against the teachings of the gods of our land?"
He stared at me, confusion flickering across his face. The more he observed me, the more certain he seemed that my strength was pitiful—nothing like that of someone who could wield a powerful foreign artifact.
I was barely a threat, or even looked like one. Someone like me shouldn’t have drawn the gods’ attention at all.
Yet, strangely, I felt no urge to resist.
"Lithra _ Hila_Mor!"
He spread his fingers wide and moved his arms in a slow, circular motion above my head. Then he opened his arms as far as he could before bringing his hands together, pressing his palms against the sides of my head.
A sphere of golden light shot from his hands and sank into my forehead, and my eyes rolled back in white.
Then I felt my mouth moving on its own, answering every question he asked. I couldn’t stop it.
My life and every secret I hold dear began to spill out—how painfully ordinary it had been, so normal it was boring. But when my words reached the exploration from earlier that day, the EYES OF THE GODS expression turned completely bleak.
"Quick! Surround the kitchen at the back of this house!"
A wisp of energy danced around me before wrapping tightly around my body. The next moment, I felt myself lifted into the air, then dropped violently into a massive iron hoop.
Pain exploded through every part of me.
Escorted by steel knights, my family and I were dragged back to our house.
The knights stormed inside, tearing through everything until they found it—a rusty iron sword.
"EYES OF THE GODS!"
The leading knight knelt and offered the sword with both hands.
Even I could feel it—nothing. No energy. No presence. It was just an old, broken sword, yet according to the EYES OF THE GODS the seemingly ordinary broken sword was the foreign artifact.
"No sinister energy... Even appraisal won’t work easily on this artifact."
The EYES OF THE GODS began chanting a complex spell, his voice trembling as if on the verge of tears. His eyes snapped open, glowing with white brilliance, his expression strained as the spell repeated again and again.
"Mighty gods of our land, please forgive your servant for his greed..."
Nothing happened.
The rusty iron sword lay there, utterly still, unaffected by every spell cast upon it.
Eventually, the steel knights carefully escorted the EYES OF THE GODS to the village altar, forcing me along with them.
I heard his final words, like a final verdict as they echoed through the square:
"This child’s soul has already been engulfed by the power of the foreign artifact..."
