Chapter 59 -59: Otherwise, The Wedding Is Canceled!
Qin Xiu took Zhu Qianying straight to the Yanhuang Group CEO’s office. After knocking on the door and delivering her, Qin Xiu tactfully withdrew.
Zhu Qianying went in and stood in front of the desk, calling out to the man who was buried in a pile of documents, “Mr. Yan.”

Mr. Yan didn’t lift his head, waving his hand impatiently, “Sit over there.”
Without asking further, Zhu Qianying directly turned around and walked into the reception room, made herself at home by sitting down, took out her mobile phone, and switched it back on.
The phone ringtone sounded almost the moment the signal was restored. It wasn’t someone else, it was Xing Bailun.
“Aaron, I’m back!” Before the other party could speak, Zhu Qianying announced herself.
Unexpectedly, at this moment, the reception room door was pushed open. Mr. Yan, who had been too busy to even lift his head before, was now standing by the door. Zhu Qianying’s words clearly entered his ears.
Mr. Yan squinted, staring at the black back of her head. If Zhu Qianying had eyes on the back of her head, she would have definitely been startled by his dark gaze.
Unfortunately, she didn’t have eyes on the back of her head, and quite calmly listened to the grievances of Xing Bailun on the other side of the receiver.
“Ying Zi, you’re really not a good friend. You didn’t even give me a heads up before leaving, made me look for you everywhere.”
“Sorry, I left in a hurry, and only had time to tell my mom. Didn’t she tell you?”
At this, the man’s cold gaze behind her softened a bit.
Mr. Yan couldn’t hear what Xing Bailun said on the other end of the phone, but he heard Zhu Qianying reply, “Okay Aaron, I have something else to do. Let’s have dinner another day.”
With that, she promptly ended the call.
Mr. Yan assumed she was aware of his presence behind her and that’s why she ended the call so swiftly, but after she hung up, she pulled up a web page on her phone and began browsing aimlessly – or maybe, she was simply killing time.
“Ahem…” Mr. Yan pretended to cough, thereby stepping into the reception room.
Zhu Qianying, who was casually leaning on the sofa, immediately straightened up and turned to look over.
“Mr. Yan, are you done?”
It seemed like she wasn’t aware that Mr. Yan had been intentionally ignoring her.
“Hmm…”
He responded indifferently and then went to sit on the sofa across from her.
Zhu Qianying remembered that he had also sat on that single-person sofa last time, and that the Yan family also had a single-person sofa of the same style but a different color.
She guessed that it must be his personal favorite sofa.
Seeing her thoughtful expression, Mr. Yan assumed she was contemplating how to deal with him, which fed his smugness.
Funny thing was, Zhu Qianying was simply adding another onto the growing list of his annoying quirks.
On one hand, Mr. Yan was waiting for Zhu Qianying to admit her fault and beg for forgiveness, but on the other, she showed no signs of doing so. She just sat there with her back straight, silent.
Unable to hold back any longer, Mr. Yan finally asked in a cold voice.
“Where have you been all this time?”
“I went to visit some classmates.” Zhu Qianying answered smoothly, showing no signs of panic.
Mr. Yan squinted at her suspiciously, “Classmates? From where?”
“W Province.”
Zhu Qianying did fly back to L City from W Province. This fact was consistent with the information Mr. Yan had.
“Didn’t I tell you to wait for my call?” His patience wore thin and he started revisiting old grievances.
Zhu Qianying met his glare and responded coolly, “Wait for your call for what? We’ve met the parents, agreed on the marriage, and set the date. Besides, it’s not November yet. We still have two months before the wedding. I’m not planning to go out after that.”
She didn’t believe that they needed to communicate over the phone.
As far as she was concerned, there was no emotional attachment between them – never was, and she hoped there never would be. She figured he felt the same.
Thus, he was silenced by her words.
Indeed, why would he call her?
Were the snacks he favored not purchasable at the lavish hotels outside? Or was it because he actually needed an outsider to join him and his parents for the Mid-Autumn Festival?
“Didn’t you bother to take care of the gifts you sent?”
“Huh?” Even though Zhu Qianying wasn’t dumb, it took her a while to sync with Mr. Yan’s frequency.
“Those two pots of shitty grass, who the hell knows how to take care of them! Go and take them away right now. They’re dying and it’s irritating just to look at them.” Mr. Yan hummed as he stood up, leaving Zhu Qianying behind and heading towards his desk.
Zhu Qianying stared at his back in a daze. It took her a while to realize he was probably referring to the two pots of Chinese Lucky Grass that she had given to Mrs. Yan previously.
Zhu Qianying knew he was just causing a ruckus, but she had no intention of pacifying him. She sat in the reception room for a few more minutes. Seeing him busy typing on the computer and completely disinterested in entertaining her, she got up, walked to his desk, and said, “Mr. Yan, I’m leaving!”
She wasn’t a masochist. Why would she willingly stay here to be tortured?
As soon as she finished speaking, without a moment’s hesitation, she turned and left.
Mr. Yan abruptly looked up, grinding his teeth as he watched her walk away. He waited until she reached the door and her hand was on the handle before he hollered at her back.
“Stop!”
Zhu Qianying paused at the handrail, turning back to look at the disgruntled man behind the desk.
“What?”
The man almost lost his composure and threw the folder in his hand at her, “Who said you can leave?”
Zhu Qianying innocently pointed at him, “You did!”
The man gave her a stern look, “When did I say you can leave?”
Zhu Qianying shrugged, “Didn’t you just tell me to go and remove those two pots of grass? I’m going now, so you won’t have to be bothered looking at them!”
After saying that, without waiting for the man to respond, she opened the door, waved her hand, and then closed it with a “bang.”
The Mr Yan who was sitting behind the desk finally failed to hold back, and the folder in his hand flew out with a “whoosh,” “crashing” against the closed door.
Zhu Qianying heard the noise, but chose to ignore it. After leaving the CEO’s office, she headed straight for the elevator.
And in the office next door to Mr. Yan, Qin Xiu, hearing the noise, assumed his boss was violently dealing with Zhu Qianying. He rushed out, and upon opening the door saw no sign of Zhu Qianying. All he saw was an irritable Mr. Yan and a mess of documents on the floor.
“Sir…” Qin Xiu stood at the doorway, unsure whether to go in or out.
“Tell Zhu Qianying, she has five minutes to come back. Otherwise, the wedding is off!” Mr. Yan ordered Qin Xiu in a chilly voice.
Upon hearing these words, Qin Xiu felt a chill down his spine.
Indeed, as he expected, the war had begun.
“Aren’t you leaving?” Mr. Yan roared again.
Qin Xiu quickly retreated, picked up the phone and hurriedly dialed Zhu Qianying’s number.
