Chapter 41: Beastspace And Storage Bags (2)

The thought sent a thrill through me.

My heart began to pound like a stallion galloping on a grassy field.

I decided to keep my mind open when interacting with the system or anything related to it, so I wouldn’t miss other opportunities like this, which I could capitalise on to increase my strength.

Upon my command, Felix transformed back into his Cybernectic Swift-Horned Panther form.

I retrieved the magical beast core that I had just collected and placed it before Felix.

"Will this be able to increase your strength?" I asked.

Despite my doubts, I wanted to see if, as a cybernetic beast, Felix could increase his strength like any other magical beast.

If he could, then it changed nothing.

If he couldn’t, that would further solidify my hypothesis that cybernetic beasts didn’t need to depend on a beastspace for survival.

It would also be challenging to handle because I would need to find alternative ways to further enhance his strength.

Given my knowledge in beast taming, I hoped it was the former because it was the most favourable situation I could handle. It would be troublesome to dive into an uncharted realm of cybernetic beast taming.

Felix brought his head forward and sniffed the magical beast’s core. He stretched out his mechanical tongue and gently tested it before pulling back and shaking his head in response.

"I can’t use it to permanently increase my strength. I don’t know why, but I won’t advance even if I refine it," Felix said.

"I’m sorry, master. I can’t use it like other magical beasts to enhance their strength permanently."

Felix could sense my intentions and read my facial expression through his internal algorithm, so I wasn’t surprised that he could accurately guess what I was currently thinking about.

I nodded.

"Do you know what you need to do to grow stronger?" I asked.

"No," Felix shook his head. "I know that I can grow stronger in this form, but I don’t know what I need to do to achieve that."

Felix lowered his head to the ground.

I could sense his struggle and sadness from our bond.

I wasn’t surprised that he didn’t know the answer. This was like asking a baby if they knew whether drinking breastmilk would allow them to grow more healtheir or not.

Although they were instinctively aware of the answer, they would only know what it was once they had tried it, and it was the responsibility of their parents to figure it out.

I bent down and gently patted his head.

"Don’t worry about it. I will figure it out. Let’s focus on completing the rest of our task for now," I reassured.

Felix raised his hand and nodded, his heart bubbling with happiness. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

He quickly transformed into his jet form.

I climbed onto his back.

We quickly flew into the air, heading towards the next location.

[ Third Person P.O.V ]

Fifteen minutes later..

Three figures landed in the area Ezekiel and Felix had previously battled against the Silver-tongued serpent.

They surveyed the scorched, scarlet, and silver-coloured crystallised ground with deep frowns on their faces.

"From the prey in the distance, it appears that the silver-tongued serpent had been tracked and killed here before it could have its meal," Riven explained, pointing towards the scotched and glossy ground and the red-furred animal besides it.

Riven was skilled at tracking prey, which allowed him to guide the group to this location. He pieced together what had happened by examining the traces on the ground.

However, he couldn’t track the attacker for evidence, as their combat uniforms effectively masked their scent and concealed their footprints to a degree, making it challenging to identify who had been there or in which direction they had gone.

Riven furrowed his brows as he continued, "I can only come to two conclusions: The silver-tongued serpent had been slain with a single attack by an unknown attacker. Or someone had lured another powerful beast towards the serpent, which led to an intense confrontation where they had taken advantage of the situation to slay it with a single attack."

He glanced at the clear bushes and trees, sprinkled with blood on their outer layer, and the scorched and crystallised ground. And the paw prints beside it. Anyone with little knowledge about tracking could easily deduce that the silver-tongued serpent hadn’t put up a fight against its opponent.

It had been killed without much struggle.

Toren and Jaran’s frowns deepened, with deep lines appearing on their foreheads.

They narrowed their eyes at the footprint resembling that of a quadrupedal magical beast, which had appeared to have arrived from nowhere and then vanished.

They didn’t think that a beastmaster had appeared here because they were all aware of the Grand Avalon Academy’s strict rules that prohibited students across departments from training in a different dungeon from their own.

They also didn’t believe that the attacker would confront the silver-tongued serpent head-on.

They believed Riven’s second suggestion: the attacker had lured a powerful magical beast towards the serpent and taken advantage of it to eliminate it.

It was more believable than the former.

"This is getting problematic," Toren exhaled in frustration, using his right hand to massage his forehead.

He glanced at the scorched and crystallised earth, then turned his gaze to the other two. "Do any one of you here know someone capable of using a technique or a magic item that can generate such destructive force?"

"I haven’t heard of anyone who weilds such a technique or magic item. As for those I know of, this kind of imprint doesn’t match theirs. It would be easy to tell if it were them," Riven quickly responded, shaking his head.

Within his network, he was aware of a few students practising fire-based techniques or wielding magic items that possessed this element, within the Swordsman Path.

Still, none of them were powerful enough to eliminate a silver-tongued serpent in a few strikes, or confront one alone.

They also required a team of two or three before attempting to confront one, due to its fatal and aggressive abilities.
