D.E.M.O.N.S: Getting Summoned Weekly isn't so Bad-Chapter 1804 - Malve Tuning
--- Kat ---
When they got to the edge of the city Eleanora subtly directed them towards one of the guard outposts while remaining behind Kat. It was sort of neat to experience how she could do that and implied a level of practice that someone who was doing this for a joke should NOT have. Kat didn't want to ask though, not when Eleanora had answered so many of her questions already, even some that perhaps she shouldn't have. Then again, perhaps to someone who lived here it would be obvious where or why she picked up those skills.
When they reached the outpost Eleanora strode forward and said, "Tell Malve that Eleanora is demanding a meeting with her,"
"Alright when's the meeting," said the guard.
"Right here," stated Eleanora. The guard gave 'Kat's maid' a funny look for a few moments before glancing away and then right back at her. He took a slight step to the left and frowned. Eleanora stomped the ground, a nearly invisible sigil appearing below her foot as a giant closed fist appeared above the guard station, causing the guard's eyes to widen before he dashed away, presumably to contact Malve.
On Kat's side of things, she was wondering why she'd never noticed the sigils before. Well, until she replayed a few memories of the fight to check. *Oh right. She's not wearing her 'weapons' right now. Those boots are the height changing ones and as such have nothing to do with the giant ice limbs. Which… huh… does that mean anyone could pretend to be Eleanora if they learnt a spell that can summon ice limbs? Or was it just enough to jog the guards memory?*
Regardless of the truth, Kat saw Malve teleporting in just a few seconds later. Malve took a step backwards when she saw how close she was to Eleanora before pausing, frowning and looking at Eleanora for a while. "I… um… hello Eleanora… I… don't normally… um… see you without your heels on… I guess? W-what did you need from me?"
*Did she notice Eleanora was shorter but doesn't want to say anything? Or is she actually just surprised over the shoes. I'm pretty sure she's telling the truth about not normally seeing Eleanora without them but nothing else. I really need to work out how to test the extent of my eyes at some point.*
"I wanted to double check that no further trouble will be caused involving Kat and her team. Find out if any other issues have popped up with tournament teams… and I suppose I should know if Strooth is choosing to cause any issues or not. Did he manage to save his legs?" listed Eleanora.
"Oh… um… those are big questions… um… should… I…" Malve glanced over at Kat. "I… should I be spreading this info outside of the guard?"

Eleanora stared back at Malve for a few seconds and just before the other elf cracked Eleanora answered. "It's no issue. I'm taking responsibility for Kat and her team for the rest of their stay here. She DID manage to defeat me after all. Plus, I'm not asking for anything too secure, just information that they deserve to know,"
Malve didn't look like she agreed with Eleanora's understanding of the situation but it was clear that Malve wasn't going to even think about arguing about it either. "A-alright um. So… there WAS an issue with another team, their leader was called Skye and I managed to get them released, apologise for the issue and put them up at one of the best inns in the city as compensation. They were… not happy with us but understood a bit more when I explained it had already happened to another team. Plus they were… not quite as inconvenienced by our actions…"
Kat wasn't sure about that… and sure was extra sure that Skye would have some sort or non-obvious revenge but Kat was certain she didn't want to get involved regardless of that. "I… um… also managed to get everything cleared for Kat's team. I also put up very specific notices of who they are, why they're in town and that unless we actively catch them committing a crime to simply leave them alone… and even if they are seen doing something to send me or you to go investigate. I… didn't exactly trust Strooth to do it and…"
"Yeah I wouldn't trust him for the moment either," sighed Eleanora. "He's not a horrible comrade and he's great at trying to kill me in sparring so I get the occasional good workout from him." Um… no, no considering her personality that checks out. "Still… he's shown to be following some questionable orders at the moment. We'll have to see what sort of interesting punishments they come up for him,"
"Um… he seems convinced that you're going to get punished instead. His legs aren't exactly doing great. The healer is having issues keeping him in one piece and they aren't super happy with you either…" added Malve.
Eleanora shrugged, "Well it's not like I need the healer's help much if ever, and really they should be thanking me for the fact that I didn't just shatter his legs then and there. It's his fault considering the casualties the guard division has taken recently,"
"Um… they… well they wanted to blame Kat for that considering she tried to release everyone in the jail…" started Malve.
Eleanora held a hand up. "Hang on, they should still be trapped in the jail. I know for a fact I destroyed the exits in the starting brawl with Kat. If you lot couldn't contain them when they had to dig their way out that's really not my problem or Kat's, especially when she didn't take any actions to help them once she was out of the jail,"
Malve frowned looking unsure. "Um… well… yes that's true… but you also trapped a bunch of guards in there with them and it turned into a big problem putting the riot back down again after we cleared away some of the rubble…"
Eleanora shrugged. "So? It's not like they could've used the equipment. What do we bother training those idiots for if not to fight in times of need? I can't be everywhere, and while I'm always up for a good fight… if I'm in a good fight I can't help them with whatever else is going on. They need to learn to get stronger, or deal with some injuries,"
Malve winced, clearly not agreeing but once again not really wanting to say Eleanora was wrong either. For Kat's part she was feeling a touch bad about the fact she'd left a bunch of unconscious guards in the jail with criminals but it seemed like nobody had died? Gotten injured sure… but nobody died. *Then again… not sure I feel too sorry for them. Clearly they didn't care who it was they had locked up. Though… is it really their job to work that out? On the other, other hand they had Skye and her friends locked up as well so they're really not showing their best sides.*
Kat knew it was a somewhat hollow justification. It was definitely her fuckup that allowed for a few potential issues but it was hard to care. Not only did she not know those guards but they'd been active and consistent problems. Perhaps that made her a bad person but as long as nobody died it was hard to feel much responsibility in a world with healing magic to repair most injuries. Which was why it was odd to hear that they were struggling to heal Strooth. Lily would probably be happy to hear that.
"O-of course Eleanora… I guess they just need more practice," lied Malve. Kat was pretty sure she could've worked that one out without having her truth sense telling her that. Kat found she was struggling to keep her eye from twitching at just how bad of lie that was.
"Alright… so anything else we need to know before I go and grab my friends?" asked Kat.
"Um… I don't think so?" offered Malve unsure as she glanced at Eleanora.
"Hmm… telling her which teams are in the city problem IS a step too far. Assuming that they've arrived at all. Though we do need to investigate as to who gave the orders. What's the word on that?" asked Eleanora.
"I… I've mostly been putting out the… the um… metaphorical fires. Nobody wants to take responsibility at the lower ranks so I have to do it. Um… a bunch of orders did come from Strooth but not ALL of them and obviously he was taking orders from someone else so like… they're to blame really. Um… it's still ongoing really and I doubt you'll have any answers soon. Sorry," admitted Malve.
*Hmm… I didn't really expect anything better. The question is… do I go in the direction I can feel Lily in or do I head to the park and chat with Mint until she wakes up? Actually… where is the park in comparison? If it's not too far away I might as well just hang out there…*
