Daddy! Come Home for Dinner!-Chapter 1315
Chapter 1315: Chapter 1315: Only She Remains_1 Chapter 1315 -1315: Only She Remains_1 Even a slight smell can be quite noticeable, let alone the overwhelming odor on Wendy Clarke. π§πβ―ππππππ°π·π¦π.πΈβ΄π
The neighbor entering the building was immediately hit by a pungent stench.
So unbearable was the smell that they hastily retreated, opting not to use the elevator.
It was agreeable to Wendy, who was content with having the elevator to herself and avoiding any awkward encounters.
However, their reactions made Wendy too embarrassed to lift her head.
Seeing them retreat, Wendy hurriedly closed the elevator doors.
Upon arriving home, she realized that her relief was short-lived.
...
Because she was the only one left at home.
Joshua Clarke had already been escorted to the airport by Adrian Zhekovaβs men and sent back to Nork City.
Judging by the time, Joshua should have arrived in Nork City by now.
Wendy picked up her mobile phone, only to find it off.
She recalled that one of Adrianβs subordinates must have turned it off.
Before it was switched off, there seemed to have been two incoming calls.
Wendy guessed that the calls were probably from Joshua, so she powered on her phone.
Surprisingly, the incoming calls were not from Joshua.
No matter how much she scrolled, she couldnβt find any missed call from him.
She gave a cynic laugh.
Joshua really couldnβt care less about anyone else.
After returning to Nork City, he disregarded both her and Christy Xenos.
He did not even bother to call and ask how she and Christy were doing.
They were still tied up by the time Joshua left.
Doesnβt he worry at all?
However, Wendy could not dwell on blaming Joshua now.
For she noticed calls from Ethan Zhekova.
The most recent two, to be precise.
The two calls before her phone was switched off, were indeed from Ethan.
The sight of Ethanβs name made Wendy shiver uncontrollably.
Especially after handing over the evidence to Adrian today.
Although Adrian promised not to reveal it to Ethan, the sight of Ethanβs name still made her feel guilty.
More so because she wasnβt the one who ended the calls β Adrianβs subordinate did.
But Ethan didnβt know that.
Two calls cut short, followed by a switched-off phone.
Ethan must be fuming.
Wendy decided sheβd better play dead for now.
She consoled herself, βEthan probably still doesnβt know about me betraying him.
His calls may not necessarily be about that, maybe it was about something else.β
βBut I canβt call him back right now,β Wendy murmured to herself, βIβm not feeling stable, talking to him right now will easily betray my guilt.β
βEven if he didnβt know, my guilty attitude may give me away, and heβd find out,β Wendy paced around, deciding to ignore Ethan for the time being.
But seeing Ethanβs name in the missed calls record made her uneasy and guilty.
She decided to delete the record.
Then, she, ostrich-like, finally felt a lot more at ease.
Wendy quickly changed her clothes, took a bath, and scrubbed off the odour on her.
However, she rushed into the bathroom too hastily, eager to wash off the smell on her, and forgot to bring in clean clothes and a dry hair cap.
While still in the shower, Wendy used the warm air lingering from the shower to keep warm.
She hollered, βMom, bring my pajamas and dry hair cap.β
But she received no response even after a while.
Only then did Wendy remember that Christy had been taken away, and she was the only one left at home.
Wendyβs heart sank.
For the first time, she felt the importance of having Christy around.
Maybe Christy couldnβt help her much.
But the presence of Christy offered her comfort and steadiness.
She could talk to Christy about anything.
Even though Christy often came up with bad ideas and vexed Wendy a lot, Wendy still missed having her around right now.
Even if Christy was beside her, spinning out bad ideas, that would be ok.
Having somebody by her side who supported her unconditionally gave her strength, reducing the loneliness.
But now, she was all alone.
Wendy took a deep breath, wrapped herself in a towel.
