Daddy! Come Home for Dinner!-Chapter 438: Soul-Piercing Questions
Ye Fei took the tissue and quickly pressed down the tears in her eyes: "I didn’t... didn’t do it on purpose."
"I know." Aunt Lin sighed, looking at Ye Fei with affection.
"Aunt Lin, I’ll take a break here." Ye Fei said, "Otherwise, if I go out, I’ll be too embarrassed to explain."
"Alright." Aunt Lin nodded.
Ye Fei sat there anyway, and continued to wrap the soup dumplings with Aunt Lin.
The small buns were just the size to eat in one bite.
Aunt Lin looked and said: "Hey, the ones we wrapped still look different. Yours looks much prettier than mine."
"I do it often, so I’m skilled." Ye Fei said with a smile.
All the buns were placed in a small bamboo steamer to be stored, just waiting to be steamed in the evening.
"Alright, I’m here, you hurry up and go out." Aunt Lin urged again.
Ye Fei’s red eyes had also faded away. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
She had no choice but to return to the main hall under Aunt Lin’s urging.
As she returned, she was surprised to find that somehow Xiao Mo had managed to roll into Grandpa’s arms.
Luckily, Grandpa was still very robust, and could withstand Xiao Mo rolling around in his arms.
Grandpa furrowed his brows, but his eyes were shining brightly, with a faint, suspicious blush on his cheeks.
While looking at Xiao Mo with disdain, his hands protected him, preventing Xiao Mo from rolling down his lap.
"Great-grandpa." Xiao Mo showed his little face from Grandpa’s embrace, and mimicked what he saw on TV, giving Grandpa a wink.
Grandpa: "..."
"Speak properly!" Grandpa said with a fierce face.
Xiao Mo paid no attention to Grandpa’s paper tiger-like posturing, and held his chubby cheeks with both little hands.
His long eyelashes were almost as broad as his eyes; as they blinked, they fluttered like little wings.
"Great-grandpa, am I your little sweetheart?" Xiao Mo asked sweetly.
Grandpa was truly conflicted.
If he said no, it wouldn’t be true.
Xiao Mo was indeed his little sweetheart!
If he said no, the little guy surely wouldn’t play in his arms anymore, he might not even be affectionate in the future.
But if he said yes, in front of so many people, how embarrassing it would be!
Facing Xiao Mo’s earnest and expectant gaze, Grandpa couldn’t bear to lie just for the sake of his pride, which would make the little guy sad.
Grandpa’s eyes wandered, and his voice was small, vaguely murmuring from his throat: "Mm-hmm."
"Great-grandpa, what did you say?" Xiao Mo tilted his head, bringing his left ear closer to Grandpa. "I can’t hear you."
Grandpa was so troubled, feeling embarrassed for the first time in his life.
Previously, his face was only slightly red, but now it was very noticeably flushed.
Ye Fei sat back beside Zhao Gushen, watching with a smile as the little guy mischievously teased Grandpa.
Zhao Gushen whispered to Ye Fei: "Grandpa has finally met his match this time."
Finally, it wasn’t him being stumped by Xiao Mo.
Now it was Grandpa’s turn to be stumped by Xiao Mo.
Since this trouble wasn’t his to bear, Zhao Gushen was thoroughly enjoying watching from the sidelines, even appreciating Grandpa’s awkwardness when being questioned by Xiao Mo.
Grandpa coughed once, and since he had already spoken, might as well say it again: "Yes."
"Yes to what?" Xiao Mo blinked his eyes, showing no intention of letting Grandpa off the hook.
The little guy felt that Grandpa was just in need of this kind of soul-searching questioning!
