Daily Intelligence System: Financial Independence-Chapter 189 - 131: Raise Jiang Yi’s Favorability! (3-in-1 Subscription Request)
Since I took sick leave today, I don’t have to go to work.
Jiang Yi also rarely got to sleep in and woke up naturally.
Because of her foot injury, she was too lazy to go downstairs to buy groceries.
For breakfast, she simply cooked a little millet porridge and an egg.
Paired with her homemade Eight Treasure Pickles, it was quite light and delicious.
"I made the Eight Treasure Pickles myself, just casually."
"If you like them, I’ll pack some for you to take home when you leave later."
Sitting in the living room, wearing limited edition clothing, chatting casually with her former student, now a student’s parent.
Jiang Yi’s pretty face turned red with embarrassment, her jewel-like toes curling on the ground.
Who understands this kind of embarrassment, family?
Jiang Tao laughed and said, "My parents also love Eight Treasure Pickles, so I won’t be shy about it."
"Well, Teacher Jiang, you have your breakfast first, and I’ll go make the bed for my sister."
Jiang Tao saw Jiang Yi’s awkwardness and found an excuse to give her time to change.
He then turned to pick up the bedding and headed towards the master bedroom.
After Jiang Tao went in, Jiang Yi let out a sigh of relief, gently patting her heaving chest.
Then she hopped on one leg toward her bedroom.
As she hopped, the fruits seemed ready to fall off the branch at any moment.
By the time Jiang Tao messily laid the bought bedding on the bed and walked out of the bedroom,
Jiang Yi had already changed out of her limited edition outfit.
She switched to a normal home outfit, which was more conservative by tenfold compared to before.
A simple orange sweater and a pair of yoga pants that clung to her round slender legs, with her feet still in pink slippers.
"Is it all set, Jiang Tao? When is your sister arriving?"
Seeing Jiang Tao come out, Jiang Yi actively sought a topic to break the silence with him.
"She was supposed to come these days, but her plans changed and she might take another ten days or so."
"My sister is really unreliable."
When Jiang Tao pinned the blame on Jiang Bing, who was hundreds of kilometers away, she sneezed three times in a row.
"Oh."
Jiang Yi looked at Jiang Tao with slight embarrassment. Does this mean she charged him too much rent?
"Well, Jiang Tao, how about when your sister arrives..."
Jiang Tao smiled and interrupted, "No need, Teacher Jiang. Just follow the rental contract."
"You don’t need to feel embarrassed about it; this has nothing to do with you, it’s my sister who’s unreliable."
"By the way, you mentioned giving me some Eight Treasure Pickles; do you mean it?"
Jiang Tao smiled and shifted the conversation back to the Eight Treasure Pickles.
"Of course, I mean it. Hang on a moment, I’ll go get some from the kitchen."
Finished speaking, Jiang Yi limped towards the kitchen, leaning more on her right foot.
Seeing this, Jiang Tao frowned and asked, "Teacher Jiang, did you see a doctor for your foot? What did they say?"
"I didn’t go to the hospital, just a minor sprain. Resting at home for a day should be enough."
"Do you have any medicinal wine for bruises or medicine for promoting blood circulation at home?"
"I feel it’s not a big problem, it’s fine without medication."
As Jiang Yi spoke, she suddenly heard the main door open and then close again.
"Huh?"
She turned to look through the frosted glass of the kitchen into the living room. Jiang Tao, who was there a moment ago, had disappeared.
"How did he just vanish in the middle of our conversation?"
Jiang Yi stood there puzzled, wondering if she should still pack the pickles.
Oh well, I’ll pack some.
I can give them to him another day or let him pick them up from my place.
Jiang Yi took out a transparent glass jar, about the size of a 10-liter bucket, from a cabinet.
The jar contained the Eight Treasure Pickles she had made a month ago.
Jiang Yi had learned the pickling recipe from her grandmother.
The pickles had a slightly sweet and spicy flavor with a perfect hint of savory sauce, making them very appetizing.
Several of Jiang Yi’s colleagues often asked her for pickles as well.
She could consume a whole bucketful alone in a year.
But with a few colleagues, the supply would run out in three to four months, requiring a new batch.
Jiang Yi was not stingy.
She used a clean plastic box that she had previously used for packaged meals to fill it with pickles for Jiang Tao and put it in the fridge.
After packing the pickles, Jiang Yi cleaned up the dining table, then washed the dishes and pans.
Lastly, she wiped down the kitchen with a cloth, before tiptoeing back to the living room.
As Jiang Yi was watering the succulents on the balcony, she suddenly heard the door open again.
Jiang Tao, holding a bag, returned.
"I went to the pharmacy outside the neighborhood and bought you a bottle of Yunnan Baiyao spray and some medicine for promoting blood circulation and removing bruises."
"External and internal use; it will heal faster."
Jiang Tao walked over to Jiang Yi, standing frozen on the balcony with a watering can, and handed her the bag.
"So, you just went to..."
Jiang Yi looked at the pile of medicine in the bag Jiang Tao was holding and then back at him, feeling a wave of gratitude.
Jiang Tao smiled, "Our Xiao Xue really likes you. She misses you if she doesn’t see you for a day, so get well soon."
"Thank you, Jiang Tao. How much did the medicine cost? I’ll transfer it to you."
As Jiang Yi spoke, she turned to her bedroom to retrieve her phone to transfer the money to Jiang Tao.
