Danmachi: Is It Wrong to Be the Main Character in Orario?-Chapter 776: Teasing the Interesting Elf Princess
"Whoosh!"
The sound of the door opening cut off the conversation between the three men outside.
The one who opened the door was Riveria. Seeing her, Gareth and Finn both walked over.
Gareth, a little impatient and eager for news, asked immediately, "Riveria, how is Ais?"
"It went smoothly. Even more smoothly than we expected."
That one line was enough to put Gareth at ease.
Finn, however, felt there was something more behind Riveria’s wording.
Bell, who also heard her, allowed a small smile to tug at his lips. Only he knew that his little deception toward the "Falna System" had worked.
’Looks like there’s no real issue.’
’Even if I can’t use that trick directly on myself, helping Ais gain more experience is a huge benefit to me too.’
There was no longer any need to worry about running out of time for "503."
’What I need to think about now is my own path.’
Ais no longer had to worry about the question of Excelia. Her two parents had always been silently waiting for her deep in the Dungeon for that very purpose.
But he still needed to find the key required to reach Lv.8.
’My abilities were already maxed out in the first month. Next, I need to go after a Floor Boss.’
’For training going forward, I’ll keep Ais with me. Letting her see a Floor Master fight with her own eyes should help her too.’
’If I can’t find a Floor Boss, then I’ll have to check whether that one is still barely hanging on.’
"That one" = "Corrupted Spirit’s Fetus"
Bell hadn’t forgotten the Corrupted Spirit’s Fetus that had given him so many advantages back then.
Honestly, without the conveniences the Corrupted Spirit’s Fetus provided, he never would’ve reached this point.
"Bell."
Hearing his name, Bell turned toward Riveria.
"Is something wrong, Vice Captain Riveria?"
"I would very much like to know how you guided Ais. That child has grown remarkably."
"Oh? Vice Captain Riveria is interested in that too?"
"...So what exactly do you take me for?"
Riveria couldn’t help wondering why Bell seemed to have such a mistaken impression of her. She truly did care about matters of leveling.
"Someone with her own convictions and pride. Someone confident in her talents, wanting to grow step by step at her own pace. That’s the feeling you give me."
Riveria took a deep breath. He really did understand her far too well.
She couldn’t deny that she once held those exact thoughts.
Elves lived far longer than ordinary adventurers. For her, growth naturally required time—and as a princess of the elven royal line, Riveria had more than enough of it.
So rather than chasing rapid progress, she preferred rising methodically, step by step.
Having her heart seen through so clearly made Riveria feel a bit uncomfortable. With a hint of embarrassment, she tried to defend herself.
"Bell, that was my old way of thinking. Back then I was reserved, wanting to grow step by step. But now, I want to know."
"That kind of sophistry won’t work, Vice Captain Riveria."
Watching a moment like this every now and then made Bell feel an urge to record it. Hmm... he’d title it "The Elf Girl Who Tries to Be Strong All Her Life Yet Still Gets Flustered and Argues Like a Tsundere."
"But even stubborn arguments won’t help you. If you used that attitude with Loki-sama, she’d probably just tell you outright. Loki-sama doesn’t have much resistance when it comes to seduction. But me? No way, Vice Captain Riveria."
"I wasn’t trying to seduce anyone!!"
Riveria was furious. No matter how shameless she might be, she would never go that far.
But once her anger faded, Riveria suddenly froze.
"Loki knows too!?"
"There are some things you just can’t hide from Loki-sama." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Bell’s tone made his implication clear, and Riveria snapped back to awareness.
’Looks like this isn’t something we’re meant to know.’
Understanding that, Riveria realized she couldn’t press the matter any further.
"In that case, I was out of line earlier."
Bell waved a hand casually, his smile natural and easy.
"Just seeing Vice Captain Riveria trying so hard to argue earlier was already worth it. If I could have recorded that moment, I’m sure plenty of elves would pay good money for it."
Riveria knew he was only joking and being polite, yet she still couldn’t stop her face from burning... utterly mortified by her own loss of composure.
Bell laughed quietly to himself, committing her bright-red face to memory.
After waiting a moment, he chose to steer the conversation back.
"My purpose today was simply to return Ais."
"Three months of training... even the toughest iron man needs to rest. Ais needs it, and I need it too. So we’ll pause the intensive training for one week.
Please tell Ais to rest well during that week and get her condition in order. For the next nine months, unless she hits her growth limit, I won’t waste a single moment."
With that said, Bell smiled and gave the three of them a small bow.
"Well then, until next time."
He vanished from sight, his presence disappearing completely, impossible to sense or track.
Unlike Ais’s technique, which could still be detected if one tried, Bell clearly wasn’t someone who could be caught easily.
After Bell left, Riveria’s embarrassment finally began to ease—at least the person who caused it was gone.
"Riveria, you really don’t need to dwell on it."
"...Do you think I’m dwelling on it?"
Gareth’s comment earned him a sharp glare from Riveria.
She knew Bell wouldn’t mind being asked questions like that, but she herself felt ashamed for even bringing them up. Even after all her years as an adventurer, she wasn’t that shameless.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm down.
Either way, her earlier loss of composure had left a painful sting.
"Don’t talk to me right now. I... I’m going back to check on Ais."
Bang!
The door slammed shut, leaving Finn and Gareth—who had planned to comfort her—no choice but to give up.
"Elves and their cleanliness obsession really are a headache."
"...Yeah."
Both of them understood Riveria’s shame came from that same sense of purity. Feeling "unclean" was probably the thing she could least accept.
So they said nothing more. Riveria likely wouldn’t speak to them for the next couple of days.
