Chapter 21: Her family II

As the weight of the silence settled in the room, Drusilla's father, Azaroth Crimsonvale, let out a deep sigh. His piercing crimson eyes remained locked on Zephyx, scrutinizing every inch of his being. Azaroth's commanding presence was undeniable, his aura exuding both authority and the terrifying power of a Primordial Vampire.

"What have you created, Drusilla?" he finally said, his voice calm but filled with curiosity. His gaze shifted between Zephyx and his daughter.

Drusilla offered no immediate response, standing quietly at Zephyx's side, her usual mischievous smirk absent for once.

Azaroth's eyes fixed on Zephyx again, sharp as a blade. "Do you know what you are, boy?"

Zephyx didn't flinch under his gaze. The question was expected, and he had no intention of hiding the truth from someone who could likely sense it anyway. "Yes," he replied evenly. "I know. Primordial Vampire."

Azaroth's expression didn't change, but the weight of the room seemed to grow heavier. His gaze was probing, as though he were searching for something deeper within Zephyx. Finally, he nodded slowly, his tone unreadable as he spoke.

"Two kings in the same era," he said, more to himself than to anyone else. "Primordial Vampires are meant to exist alone, one per era. Yet, here you are. This era will not follow tradition."

He leaned back in his throne, his eyes narrowing as if calculating the implications. Then he asked, his voice steady, "What is your category?"

"Eldritch Bloodborn," Zephyx answered without hesitation.

Azaroth didn't seem surprised by the answer, yet there was a flicker of intrigue in his gaze. "A category that doesn't belong to this era," he mused. "Unique, formed specifically for you. That is the privilege of a Primordial Vampire. It is yours alone, and it will pass to your descendants—should you choose to have any."

At his mention of heirs, Zephyx caught sight of Drusilla fidget beside him. She was staring down, her cheeks flushed with crimson. Her blushing nature caught the eye of the everyone in the room.

Internally, Zephyx wept, "Why are you reacting like this?" He thought, attempting to keep his face calm despite growing awkwardness.

Azaroth's eyes didn't leave Zephyx. He looked at him with all seriousness before he spoke, his voice stern but tinged with accusations, "What have you done to my brilliant daughter? Have the two of you already.....consummated this relationship?"

Zephyx's eyes went wide in fear, and he exclaimed, "No! No, we haven't done anything like that!"

As he was about to speak further, Drusilla's mother stopped him, Selene Crimsonvale giggling quietly, the laugh full of mirth. "Although, I must say," she teased with a smile, "he is rather cute. If they'd already had their way, I wouldn't really have anything to complain about."

Azaroth looked up at her, his face unfurrowed as if battling with what she'd said lightly.

Selene smiled slyly. "Don't worry, darling. He's only a shade more handsome than you."

Azaroth glared at her, his mouth compressing into a thin line, obviously less amused than his wife. Her wording appeared to anger him—not because she said Zephyx was handsome, but because she suggested he wasn't the most handsome in the room.

An awkward silence settled over them before Azaroth took a deep breath and turned to Zephyx. "Let's set this rubbish aside," he said, his voice slicing through the tension. "It's long past time, but we should start with formal introductions."

He rose from his throne, his tall figure looming above them. "I am Azaroth Crimsonvale, King of Tenebris and father of Drusilla."

Selene bowed her head elegantly. "And I am Selene Crimsonvale, Queen of Tenebris and mother of Drusilla."

Zephyx nodded respectfully, straightening his posture. "I am Zephyx, the second Primordial Vampire of this era and disciple of Drusilla."

Zephyx had never tried this type of introduction but he tried his best. Though it was quite cringe.

At his words, Azaroth and Selene looked at each other. They appeared impressed, although their faces changed when they heard the word disciple. Azaroth's frown intensified, and he addressed his daughter, who had been unusually quiet during the course of the conversation.

"Drusilla," he said sternly. "Did you not tell him what happens when a vampire gives their blood to another for the first time?"

Drusilla pouted, glancing at Zephyx before returning her gaze to her father. She protruded her tongue in a mock pout, her mischievous grin back in place. "Hehe~ I forgot," she said, her voice carefree and unapologetic.

Azaroth groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. Selene merely chuckled, clearly amused by her daughter's antics. Meanwhile, Zephyx stood there in stunned silence, wondering just how many more surprises awaited him in this bizarre family reunion.
