Chapter 4347 - 3442: Midnight Sons (4)

The High Tower was as bustling as ever. Every Shiller had their own business to attend to. Greed walked through the hallway and reached the floor where Moonlight was, unsurprisingly finding the Skull Falcon's head Khonsu in the Insane asylum room.
"Are you the only one here?" Greed asked curiously.
The bird's beak clicked twice. Shiller understood him: Moonlight went out by himself and didn't take him. Isn't that convenient? It seems that Khonsu has no other choice without needing him to act.
"Who did he go out with?" Shiller asked.
Khonsu pointed his magic wand at the ground. Shiller was quite surprised and said, "Could it be Manipulation?"
Khonsu nodded.
"Alright, looks like you'll be working with me for the time being."
Khonsu shook his head.
"What? You don't want to work? Do you expect to freeload in my Psychic_Battlefield?" Shiller squinted his eyes.
Unexpectedly, Khonsu walked over, circled around him, the flames in the skull sockets flickered, shook his head, and sighed.
"What do you mean?" Shiller said very displeased, "Do you think I'm too weak or something?"
"You have such a shallow understanding of strength!" Shiller lamented, "Do you really think that only those who can fight are strong?"
Khonsu nodded.
Shiller sighed helplessly and said, "Most things in this world still require brainpower. Brains, you know?"
"Then why did you come to find me?" Khonsu asked the crucial question, and Shiller was left speechless.
He approached Khonsu not only because he wanted to play the role of Moon Knight, but also because he really needed some kind of martial protection. How can a street hero not know how to fight?
But for Arrogant and Greed, fighting, especially close combat, was indeed their weak point. Although they mocked Stark for not being able to fight every day, Greed and a non-mecha-clad Stark were about on par in fighting skills.
While it doesn't matter if there's any technique in fighting—winning is all that counts—those with stronger fighting skills definitely look cooler. This is the essential secret of a street hero.
When it comes to close combat, Captain America and Natasha definitely look cooler because their fighting skills are strong and they each have their own style.
Peter is a bit weaker in this regard because he hasn't received professional combat training. However, his speed is fast, his dexterity is high, and his movements have a strong bionic style, so it still looks decent.
As for Iron Man in the mecha suit, that's not his combat style but JARVIS's. He usually doesn't suppress enemies through close combat but uses the mecha's mobility for long-range harassment.
By rights, Shiller could also choose to be a long-range hero, tossing magic from afar. But the first two owners of the Moon Knight persona were all close-combat fighters, so suddenly changing style here wouldn't be too fitting.
And it's all Moonlight's fault for setting the bar too high. Shiller suspected that Dan liked the Moon Knight so much because he'd seen Moonlight fight.

Truth be told, Moonlight's close combat style is indeed unique, exhibiting a special kind of coldness. It's unlikely for Greed to mimic this style, but when physical strength is lacking, effects make up for it. With Khonsu, at least the Moonlight effects are the same.
After listening to Greed's plan, Khonsu hesitated for a moment, then said, "If it's just some street criminals, maybe it can work. But if you face Mephisto, I can't help you."
"I won't confront Mephisto, and he won't want to confront me," Shiller explained. "I just want to find out who's been urging Danny to confront Mephisto. I only need your help in maintaining the Moon Knight image; I can handle the rest."
Finally, Greed and Khonsu reached an agreement. Khonsu would use magic to help Shiller maintain the Moon Knight's image and provide some magical assistance in battles, while Shiller handled everything else on his own.
As a superhero, it's necessary to have a base with its own style. For instance, Iron Man's Stark Laboratory and the Supreme Magician's The Sanctum.
Next, Shiller had to get this done.
Earlier, Shiller had acquired a house; it was from Father Brad from the pale knight universe. A house that could appear on the same street in every universe was very fitting for Moon Knight's mysterious style.
But the problem was, this house could only appear in the DC Universe. DC's Demons aren't powerful enough to interfere with Marvel's affairs. So to have a similar house, he still needed to find Marvel's administrator.
Shiller arrived at the Eternal Temple, noticing that Eternity had been doing well lately; the Eternal Temple hadn't been destroyed in a while.
In the center of the Temple of Eternity, the avatar of Eternity floated quietly in the air. As Shiller approached, a majestic voice rang out.
"Traveler of the Star Realm, why have you come?"
"Operator."
"You can rest here or embark on your journey again."
"Operator!"
"The light of order always shines upon you."
"I'm Shiller, operator!!!"
Eternity snapped awake. Shiller was somewhat speechless; turns out your keyword was "Shiller" instead of "operator".
"Ahem." Eternity cleared his throat and said, "There have been many visitors recently, so I was using automated responses. What do you need?"
Shiller briefly explained his intention, then said, "I can handle the house construction myself, but I need you to give me the permission to summon it in any individual universe."
"That's not under my jurisdiction; you need to find Infinity. He's the personification of the totality of universe space."
"I don't care; you figure it out among yourselves. I just need the result."
Eternity was visibly exasperated but still communicated with an existence in the void, then gently grasped something in the air, and a blue cone appeared in his hand.
"After building the house, place this on it and select the range yourself. The larger the area, the more energy required to summon it."
After taking the blue cone and putting it away, Shiller was about to leave. Eternity asked one more question, "What are you going to do?"
"What?"
"Why do you need it so suddenly?"
"I need to investigate something." Shiller waved his hand, about to leave, but felt that if he didn't explain clearly, they'd definitely misunderstand and cause a whole lot of trouble, so he briefly outlined his plan.
"You say you're going to deal with Mephisto?" Eternity's tone carried a hint of curiosity as he asked, "What did he do to offend you?"
"When did I say I was dealing with Mephisto?" Shiller said, covering his forehead. "I want to stop Danny from dealing with Mephisto and investigate what's behind this."
Eternity clearly didn't believe him. Shiller was too lazy to persuade him. If he could warn Mephisto, that would actually be better, prompting the Old Devil to lay low for a while, and Danny wouldn't keep pursuing him.
Back in New York, Shiller began selecting a location for the house.
Since he came to Marvel, he hadn't had a proper residence. Whether it was the clinic or the convalescent home, they were all workplaces, only with a bedroom upstairs.
Truthfully, his proper home was just the apartment he rented when he first came to Marvel. It's no longer being rented, of course.
But that apartment's location was quite good, situated in Manhattan Center, not far from Hell's Kitchen's clinic, Elders Council Hospital, Stark Building, and The Avengers' base.
The rent was correspondingly high. Shiller wasn't about to spend extra money to rent it again, but if he could obtain it free of charge, the location was nice.
Shiller drove around the area and didn't choose the high-rise apartment area but opted for a commercial street. There, he selected a building in one of the alleyways.
Just like with Father Brad before, the house wasn't really built inside the building but virtually created with magic. It's equivalent to opening a small spatial rift somewhere, where the dimension containing the house exists, independent of the real world.
To match the style of Moon Knight, Shiller had to build the house like some final boss's palace in a game. Upon entering, there's a spacious hall with a fountain in the center, above which a moon hovers, its phases changing, casting an alternating light on the hooded knight statues on either side of the hall. Two spiral staircases lead upstairs: one to the bedroom and the other to the study.
This dimension is filled with the moonlit eternal night; no matter which window you look out of, you only see a night sky and a solitary full moon.
No matter what Shiller thought, Khonsu was very satisfied, seemingly prepared to stay here long-term.
However, Shiller suggested he better not, because standing with that Skull Falcon head in the middle of the hall made people irresistibly want to pinch off a soul.
After settling the base, Shiller needed a weapon, so Khonsu had no weapon.
Shiller swung the long wand in his hand. If he had to choose a melee weapon, Shiller preferred a blunt weapon, especially a heavy one, as it had a strong impact.
Although Khonsu's weapon was a magic wand, it was quite an excellent blunt weapon. It had sufficient length and weight, and the crescent shape at the front functioned like a riot fork, highly functional.
After taking care of all the superhero matters, Shiller had one more important thing to do, which was taking a leave of absence.
Although most people are currently engrossed in dual-player instances, Shiller still had to notify them that he wouldn't be available recently, to prevent them from thinking he disappeared to fiddle with something again.
First, Shiller went to Asgard, where he met a supervising Loki, who looked a bit like President Loki. Shiller left the message and left.
Next was The Avengers. Shiller found that Captain America had already returned upon arrival.
Shiller greeted Steve, who was playing pool at the table. Steve sighed helplessly when he saw him.
"What's wrong?" Shiller asked.
"Are you going to Stark Building later?" Steve asked. Shiller nodded in confusion.
"I advise you not to go recently. Tony is ready to settle accounts with you."
"Settle accounts?" Shiller thought it was because Stark regretted buying a hospital for 80 Dou World Coins. But so many people were present then that Shiller wasn't afraid of him backing out.
After saying goodbye to Steve, Shiller headed straight for Stark Building. Before even entering Stark's office, he heard him swearing inside.
"That damn bastard Shiller! He ambushed me when I wasn't wearing the mecha! If it weren't for that, I wouldn't have had to leave the game early..."
