Chapter 4363 - 3456: Midnight Sons (18)

"This can't be a coincidence," Peter said as he looked at the data on the screen. "Some forces have influenced gene expression, causing a special form of second evolution in the human race. I think this might be a curse that only affects specific genes."
"Like black skin?" Miles asked.
Peter shook his head and said, "Of course not. Targeting skin color makes no sense, and all the people present at the time were Black, so it doesn't have to be just for them. It should be that the technology itself has limitations and needs to select individuals with specific gene fields to be effective."
"What do you know about the air factory plan?" Stark turned his head and asked.
Peter and Miles weren't sure who exactly he was asking, so Peter spoke first, "This plan definitely won't work."
"Why?"
"Otherwise, China would certainly be doing it," Peter said. "Their population is larger than ours, with less per capita living space and arable land. If they could utilize space in the air, they would greatly increase each person's living space."
"For something that benefits people's livelihood, if there are no drawbacks, they would definitely do it. Even with some minor drawbacks, they might still apply it on a small scale first. Once such a project starts, it can't be hidden. Since we haven't heard anything, it's certainly not happening."
"Where could the problem lie?" Miles scratched his head and said, "The plan looks pretty feasible to me and doesn't seem to have any major issues. Moving factories into the sky would cause no ground pollution. Isn't that a good thing?"
"Factories will inevitably produce pollution," Peter said. "The issue is where we discharge the pollution. On the ground, pollution is either discharged underground, into the water system, or some of it into the air.
The air factory plan has its merits: it creates jobs and frees up ground space. But Roxon Corporation seems to have never mentioned the pollution issue, and I think that's the key point."
"Tony, if it were you, how would you handle the pollution problem of air factories?" Peter asked.
"Discharging into space would be the best method," Stark said, "but if that's the case, the factories would have to be built at very high altitudes.
Considering Miles is here, Stark didn't use those technical terms; he explained as simply as possible, "If the factories are built too low, never mind blocking sunlight, you can't directly build waste discharge pipes to space, so you'd have to use transport equipment to haul it up, and the cost would be extraordinarily high."
"So if it were me, I would build the factories in low Earth orbit, select a dedicated location in space to store pollution, and then periodically send it to the sun for destruction, which is the simplest method."
"Do you think Roxon would do that?" Miles asked.
"First, they need the technology for it."
"But I've heard they're pretty powerful," Miles said. "They seem to have space equipment too."
"Where do you keep hearing good things about them?" Stark squinted as he looked at Miles and asked, "Where did you hear these things?"
Miles was slightly stunned and said, "I don't know, maybe from TV news, or possibly from some newspapers and magazines, or maybe from what others have said."
"Where is your home?" Peter suddenly asked.
"The Bronx," Miles answered. "Why?"
"It seems they've been promoting in the Bronx for a long time," Peter said. "Even though you already know that Roxon Corporation might be involved with the Minotaur incident, your impression of them is still quite good. This means their propaganda is quite successful."
Miles fell into thought, seeming to recall where he got those impressions. But after thinking for a long time, he shook his head and said, "I really don't remember well. I'm not someone who likes watching TV, and as for newspapers, let's not even mention those; those are entertainment from the last century.
I don't have many friends. Occasionally, I'd help an elderly couple living next door with cleaning, but they love raising flowers and fish, never talking about politics, much less mentioning anything about Roxon Corporation..."
"Some public opinion propaganda is that subtle," Peter said. "Roxon Corporation has invested heavily in promoting in the Bronx; it can't simply be for their stock price.
They want people to support their air factory plan," Stark asserted decisively.
"Tony, if you build factories the way you mentioned, is there much profit margin?"
Stark shook his head and said, "Not only is there not much, but in the years following construction, it might break even at best. Not making a loss would be good; it merely sustains production but solves pollution issues as much as possible."
Peter rubbed his chin and said, "Roxon Corporation doesn't have such strong social responsibility. I guess they don't plan to deal with pollution at all, and they might not even have thought about building the factories so high."
"You mean, they plan to build the factories right overhead?" Miles said, a bit incredulously, "Wouldn't that block out all the sunlight? Some factories cause air pollution; what about the residents below?"
"They don't care," Peter said. "The wealthy want to move factories away from their surroundings, but there still needs to be somewhere to place them. Buying land in the Bronx costs a lot and could trigger various demonstrations and vandalism."
"It's better to just throw the factory over your heads; it costs nothing, and even if you want to violently oppose it, you can't reach it. And how many people die in the Bronx, they don't care."
Miles clenched his fists but then slowly loosened them. He said, "They even want us to be grateful, as if they delivered us here and gave us seemingly fair treatment, wanting us to thank them."
"Don't get caught up in racial issues," Peter shook his head and said. "We have to unite all forces, including White, Asian, and Mexican Descendants. If it's just Black people, it'll become a racial conflict, and then it'll pass without pain."
Miles sighed and sat down on a nearby chair. At that moment, he saw the moon outside getting brighter and brighter.
A beam of moonlight suddenly appeared, and Stark turned his head to see Moon Knight passing through the glass floor-to-ceiling window and slowly entering the laboratory.
"Did you find anything?" Stark asked.
Shiller didn't speak but gently tapped his magic wand, and a silhouette of an international news appeared in the air, mentioning China's Jupiter development plan.
Stark frowned; he couldn't immediately figure out what it had to do with the Minotaur incident, but JARVIS promptly reminded him, "Roxsen Energy Company has mining sites on Jupiter."
"Jupiter? How did they get to Jupiter?"
"Currently unclear," JARVIS said. "Conservatively, the technology they're using differs from Earth's mainstream technology direction.
What's the non-conservative part?
"They should be using alien technology, and it's alien technology with magic involved."
Stark's face turned grim, and he said, "Don't tell me Roxon is filled with aliens, and Earth's energy has been under alien control for the past decades."
"It's not that pessimistic, sir," JARVIS said. "The majority of Roxon's employees are human; aside from Dalio Ag, the other senior managers should also be human."
"So is that Ag an alien?"
"Unclear," JARVIS paused before answering, "but no matter what, the alien exploration and mining technology Roxon is using now is not human; that's an indisputable fact."
"Could it be they themselves..."
"There's no trace of any technological evolution," JARVIS said. "Their mining outposts on Jupiter have never undergone any updates or iterations, functioning consistently, with a mature technology from the start."
Stark took a deep breath, evidently realizing the situation was more complex than he imagined.
"Can you determine which civilization's technology it is?"
"I'm doing a comparison, but there are too many civilizations with such technology, and it'll take some time."
"Keep an eye on Jupiter for me," Stark said, "if there's any sudden situation, you handle it without reporting to me first."
"Whom do we help?"
"What?"
"If China wants to extract from Jupiter, they'll definitely send equipment and people for investigation. If Roxon wants to claim Jupiter for themselves, they'll certainly come into conflict. Whom do we help?"
"Do you even need to ask? Of course, we help China! How long has China been involved in the Solar System development plan and already created star ships? What has Roxon given Earth after mining Jupiter for so long? These shameless resource thieves!"
Then Stark was puzzled again and said, "Where are the things they extracted from Jupiter? The entire Solar System is under my watchful eyes, yet I've never seen them transport Jupiter's resources out."
"From what I understand, sir," JARVIS replied, "they only extract, not transport."
"Huh?"
"Otherwise, their means of transport could be beyond my monitoring scope, which is why I suggested there might be a magical factor involved."
"No, this is urgent; I need to find a way to investigate," Stark said. "Prepare gear for me, I'm going to Jupiter myself."

Then he turned to the group and said, "It's no longer just a Bronx issue, Roxon possibly has dealings with aliens, we need to figure out what they're really up to."
"Miles, since your home is in the Bronx, you must keep a close watch recently. The New Warriors Team will also assist you; contact them if any emergencies occur."
Miles nodded his head and wasn't angry because Stark suddenly changed the investigation target; he could clearly distinguish what's urgent and important. Indeed, the Bronx is significant, but it can't be more important than the entire Jupiter or Earth's safety.
"How's your use of magic?" Stark then asked Peter.
"Not bad," Peter nodded. He gently leaped and floated into the air, his body emitting a faint glow brought by Faith Power.
"Moon Knight, are you planning to go with us or stay on Earth to continue your investigation?"
After a brief consideration, Shiller said, "I'll go with you."
"Then there's no time to lose," Stark said. "I'll get my equipment, and we'll set off now."
