Deities: Starting From Goblins-Chapter 917 - 526: Dismembering the Race of Spirits
Chapter 917: Chapter 526: Dismembering the Race of Spirits
“Benefactor, no matter what, I thank you for everything this time. If it were not for your help, I don’t know if my mother could have survived until now.”
As she spoke, remembering the days of the past, Ellie couldn’t help but wipe away her tears.
Logan’s heart softened, looking at the person who mattered so much to him, and he reached out to support her.
“No need for formalities, we were fated to meet. As long as the Elixir has no issues, your mother’s illness will naturally improve over time.”
“By the way, take these Spirit Stones for unexpected needs.”
Ellie hurriedly tried to decline.

“No, Benefactor, we’ve already received so much generosity from you, how can we accept these Spirit Stones? You should take them back quickly.”
However, Logan did not take them back, insisting on placing them in the palm of Ellie’s hand.
“Have you ever heard the saying, ‘Save someone completely if you’re going to save them, help someone fully if you’re going to help?’ Since I’ve saved you, in a sense, your lives are mine. Of course, I hope that you live long and prosperous lives, so there’s no need to refuse.”
Seeing that Ellie still found it hard to accept, he added another sentence.
“Really, it’s nothing. Lead a good life, and when the future looks brighter, you can repay me then, or simply pay it forward by helping another person.”
Ellie’s heart stirred, and she couldn’t help but look up at Logan with sparkling eyes.
“Benefactor, you truly are a person of great righteousness. For my mother and me to have met someone as kind as you, we are truly fortunate across three lifetimes.”
Logan waved his hand, unwilling to accept such high praise.
“You’re too polite. I’m sure anyone else would have done the same with little effort.”
But Ellie’s gaze dimmed for a moment.
“No, no one would help us. Cultivators, high and mighty as they are, look down on people like us. Otherwise, we would have never been driven to such a plight. If it were not for your intervention, where would we find the peace we have today? My lord, do not belittle yourself. Your righteousness is profound, and we will remember this kindness in our hearts forever.”
Facing the situation, although Logan felt somewhat helpless, he knew that he could not easily change the current state of affairs. He took a deep breath, trying to calm the turmoil within him, and finally chose to accept her gesture of gratitude.
He nodded slightly, a faint, almost imperceptible bitter smile on his face, then said softly, “Since things have come to this, I have nothing more to say. Since there is nothing else, I will not impose any longer and will take my leave.”
After saying that, Logan turned to leave. His stride was steady, but his heart was tumultuous. He was keenly aware that their meeting was not by chance and that there were many mysteries yet to be unraveled. However, for the moment, he had to set it all aside and depart, to find a resolution on another day.
The Elixir had been examined, and it seemed there was no reason for Logan to stay, so Ellie did not insist on him doing so.
Yet, watching the man leave, watching his retreating figure, she felt an inexplicable sense of reluctance arise within her. Unable to resist, she spoke up to stop him.
“Benefactor.”
Logan stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her, his eyes filled with confusion.
“What is it? Is there anything else?”
Ellie wasn’t sure what to say, but in the end, she hesitantly voiced her request.
“Well, it’s getting late, and it’s almost time for a meal. You’ve helped us so much, and we have not had the chance to properly thank you. I wonder if I could invite you to share a meal with us.”
As she said this, her fingers nervously intertwined, clearly embarrassed.
The gentle woman was well aware of her family’s humble circumstances, with nearly empty walls, unable to offer luxurious foods like wealthy families to entertain a distinguished guest. All she could provide were simple home-cooked dishes; though plain and modest, they were all she could prepare with her utmost effort. However, even if the food was simple, her intentions were most sincere, and she softly said to the gentleman, “My family is poor, and I have no valuables to offer, only this plain tea and simple food to express my sentiments. Please do not disdain it, and if you are willing, then please stay for a humble meal, as a token of my gratitude.”
She had resolved in her heart that if this Benefactor agreed to stay, she would immediately go to the market to buy some fine ingredients. They themselves, on ordinary days, could not bear to indulge in such luxuries, scrimping every penny. But in front of the Benefactor, they were willing to give their all, just to provide a taste of a warm home. They knew that for the Benefactor, this food might not mean much, but this heartfelt gesture was priceless.
“This…”
Logan intended to refuse, but looking at the hopeful expression of the woman before him, the words of rejection he had ready couldn’t escape his lips. Instead, he retracted his original thought and offered another.
“Well then, I will respectfully accept your invitation.”
Upon hearing this, Ellie almost jumped for joy on the spot.
“Really? That’s great! Young Master Logan is willing to honor us with his presence, it’s truly Ellie’s honor. Please, sit for a moment, I’ll go and prepare immediately.”
With that, she was already in a flurry of activity, somewhat flustered.
Regret began to stir in Logan’s heart, torn about whether his earlier decision might cause undue trouble for someone else. However, as he wavered, his gaze unintentionally caught the smile on her face. It was like the sun rising at dawn, bright and warm, brimming with happiness and gratitude. Faced with such a smile, Logan’s doubts and anxieties dissolved substantially.
