Delayed Passion: Miss Lynch's Unrequited Love-Chapter 80: Take It Off
From the beginning, Ian Preston didn’t really intend to donate this necklace.
It was just going through the motions. He had always been sure of winning it back in the end.
In his view, regardless of whether Thea Lynch wanted it or not, this item already had her name on it.
It was impossible for it to end up with anyone else.
Moreover, if someone else bid and actually won it, Thea Lynch might end up making sarcastic remarks about him.
Even when they were together, she was already very picky, always saying things as hurtful as possible, aiming directly at his heart.
So he could imagine this necklace being taken by someone else, and that girl would probably be even more relentless towards him.
Thea Lynch: "..."
She brushed her hair behind her ear, trying to hide her guilty conscience.
"This is originally Sean Bell’s, so naturally it’s up to him to decide how to handle it."
"And besides, this is an auction, everyone has the right to bid. Why would I dwell on it?"
"On the contrary, Sean Bell, you’re overthinking it."
Ian Preston didn’t expose her little trick, turned his head and asked her:
"Since you don’t like it, why is Sean Bell joining in the fun?"
"How should I know?" Thea Lynch couldn’t possibly say Sean Bell wished to embarrass Nina Sinclair, right?
If she said that, it would definitely drag out more issues.
It’s hard to explain, and she doesn’t want to explain.
"Isn’t that just how he is? Impulsively does things without much thought."
"How could I possibly know what he’s thinking."
That was genuinely the truth.
"Anyway, thanks Sean Bell for the painting this time." Thea Lynch put down her teacup, not intending to stay seated, "I’m heading back, there’s something else I like."
Ian Preston urged her to stay, "Bid here, no one will compete with you."
Unfortunately, Thea Lynch just casually said that, it was just an excuse.
There was nothing she wanted.
"Nah, that’s too dull." She stood up and kicked at the hem of her dress with her high heels.
"Sean Bell, I’m off."
With that, she didn’t look back, straightening her back and heading towards the door.
The assistant glanced at Ian Preston’s expression, and only pushed the door open for Thea Lynch, gesturing for her to proceed, after receiving approval.
Sitting in the main seat, Ian Preston discreetly watched Thea Lynch leave.
Where his gaze reached, her figure was graceful, swaying with elegance as she walked.
Her curly hair and red lips were indeed enticing.
He always regarded her as a begonia that needed nurturing, but today she appeared more like a thorny rose.
——
Back at her seat, Thea Lynch saw Sean Bell giving her a meaningful smile.
"What are you looking at?" She straightened her body, looking straight ahead.
A cold and aloof demeanor of a stranger not to be approached.
Aware she didn’t want to acknowledge him, but Sean Bell never minded and enjoyed opposing her.
"Sean Bell is willing to let you back."
Upon hearing this, Thea Lynch frowned, looking at him confused: "What does that mean."
Sean Bell didn’t explain, switched topics: "Nina Sinclair just went out, heard recently she cozied up to Apex International’s young Vaughn."
"Apex International?"
Thea Lynch had indeed heard of this company.
The chairmen of Zenith and Apex, the two major groups, are brothers, having some status in Coronet. Apex’s Mr. Vaughn has three sons, and the young Vaughn Sean Bell mentioned should be the youngest one.
"Are you serious?"
How could she remember this young Vaughn is already married. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"Is it possible to fake this? They were just sitting together earlier."
Thea Lynch instinctively searched.
Sean Bell reminded, "They just went out together, haven’t come back."
"Have to say, Nina Sinclair is really something. Following Sean Bell for several years, whether or not she had a title, she thrived in Coronet under his name for years. At the beginning, she even dared to hit on you."
"And now, leaving Sean Bell, so quickly found a new patron. Judging by how generous the other was earlier, he should be treating her quite well. Spending millions without batting an eye."
Ignoring his previous statements, Thea Lynch asked: "The Vaughn Family’s not married? Their kids aren’t young anymore, right."
"What does that matter." Sean Bell laughed at her naivety, "Just a marriage alliance."
"The Vaughn’s family won’t bother with Nina Sinclair, she doesn’t threaten her. Just playing around, who takes it seriously."
All turning a blind eye, not interfering. Because no matter how Nina plays with the Vaughns, even with all her tricks, she can’t possibly succeed to the top.
She’ll be nothing more than a mistress kept in the dark for life.
Very soon, the auction ended, and the banquet officially began.
Everyone moved to the banquet hall next door.
Thea Lynch and Sean Bell went from the side door, avoiding most acquaintances.
Neither of them liked socializing, they came today mainly to watch and join the crowd. But Sean Bell kept a cold face, and no one dared to approach, saving much trouble.
Finding a corner seat, Thea Lynch rested her head on one hand.
"They’re here." After a few seconds, Sean Bell suddenly nudged her forearm. Lifting her eyelids, she scanned the surroundings casually, finally stopping her gaze on the red silhouette.
Expressionless looking for a few seconds, just as planning to shift her gaze, the other seemingly sought her out and locked eyes on her.
The two looked at each other across the way, Thea Lynch’s eyes calm and expressionlessly staring at her.
After several seconds, Nina Sinclair was the first to look away, chatting with the man next to her laughingly.
Not knowing what they said, the man beside Nina also looked towards Thea Lynch.
Judging by age, mid-thirties, Thea Lynch roughly guessed his identity.
Apex’s young Vaughn.
Probably noticing her attire, his face flashed a hint of surprise.
Then he walked towards her side.
"Long time no see, Young Master Sean." He approached, first greeting Sean Bell.
Then looked at her, extended his hand, "You’re Miss Lynch, right? I’ve long heard of you, finally meeting today."
Thea Lynch glanced at his outstretched hand, unmoved.
Sean Bell raised his eyebrow, speaking half-jokingly, "Even I can’t touch her hand, young Vaughn dares."
Upon hearing this, the man quickly withdrew his hand, smiling awkwardly.
"Initially didn’t notice No. 3 was you, that woman of mine is ignorant, I’m bringing her to apologize specifically to you and Miss Lynch."
He gestured for Nina Sinclair to come over.
Thea Lynch kept her head low, drinking, not even bothering to lift her eyelid.
Sean Bell squinted his smiling eyes, seemingly just noticing, "Hey, Miss Sinclair looks quite beautiful in today’s outfit, though it seems familiar."
"..." Nina Sinclair froze.
Today’s dress was chosen by her agent, didn’t expect to end up matching with Thea Lynch upon arrival.
Sean Bell didn’t lower his voice, drawing many glances that started inspecting Nina Sinclair.
"Apologies, didn’t expect to match with Miss Lynch."
Sean Bell: "Since you’re aware, how about...taking it off."
