Delayed Passion: Miss Lynch's Unrequited Love-Chapter 84: Thugs and Hooligans
Thea Lynch had heard Sean Bell say similar things many times before.
Hearing it again now, she felt no waves in her heart, even felt like laughing.
She really couldn’t understand why Sean Bell was so persistent, with such a certain tone, as if he knew her better than she knew herself.
Was he a worm in her belly?
At first, whenever she heard this, her heart would tremble slightly. But now, she just felt Sean Bell was a lunatic, mysteriously acting as though he were God, knowing everything.
Somehow laughable.
"Can’t communicate with you, I’m leaving." She realized chatting with Sean Bell was truly torturous.
A waste of time.
With those words, she stood up and decisively turned around to leave.
At the terrace door, Sean Bell stopped her.
The man leaned on the railing, squinting as he looked at her back and said with a strangely serious tone, "Thea Lynch, sometimes I’m just as conflicted as you are, hoping that everything you say is true."
Thea Lynch: "..."
——
People often say women are the most inexplicable creatures; they are whimsical and their thoughts are unfathomable. But now, Thea Lynch thought this was not reasonable.
In her view, men were even more inexplicable.
Take Sean Bell’s words just now; Thea Lynch vaguely sensed something.
But she dared not confirm it.
After all, it was Sean Bell, with his peculiar logic, as if he stepped on a banana peel and twisted all the way, who knows where he would end up.
Then there was Ian Preston with his unexpected confession.
Thea Lynch really had reasonable doubts whether these two cousins were recently stimulated by something.
Appearing abnormal.
Returning to the main hall, Thea Lynch glanced around and didn’t see Ian Preston.
He still hadn’t come back...
Her words earlier were quite piercing upon reflection, but he was Ian Preston.
Not far away, Silas Cheney saw her return, quickly stopped talking, smiled at the person beside him, put down his wine glass, and strode toward her.
"Why did you come back alone?" Silas Cheney pulled her to sit down to the side.
"I went to the bathroom alone, came back alone; otherwise, would half a person return?"
Thea Lynch pretended not to understand.
Silas Cheney was rarely rendered speechless by her comeback.
"Getting more humorous, huh. Didn’t see Ian?"
The two cousins Ian Preston and Sean Bell went out consecutively, but now Thea Lynch had returned, and the two brothers were still out of sight...
Silas Cheney worried the two might clash again.
In recent days, Ian Preston was already in a bad mood, he could easily take offense. While Sean Bell was like a mad dog recently, biting whoever he caught.
Oh, he was stuck between these two cousins, playing both brother and mediator, his heart nearly shattered with concern.
"No." Thea Lynch lied without batting an eyelid or skipping a heartbeat.
Sweeping around the room, she didn’t see Apex’s Wan or Nina Sinclair, "Did Apex leave?"
Upon hearing this, Silas Cheney swallowed back the question he was about to ask, answering, "Left with Nina Sinclair a while ago."
Mentioning this, he felt a headache, "You don’t know what Sean Bell did after you left."
Thea Lynch glanced sideways, eager to hear.
"Nina Sinclair apologized to him, but he directly threw a fit and tossed wine on her without a word."
Thea Lynch: "..."
"That was really like some kind of thug." Silas Cheney was fuming, "Even if he can’t stand Nina Sinclair, she’s still a woman. Publicly putting someone in a difficult spot, saying a few words is one thing, but throwing red wine was really lacking taste."
Thea Lynch’s mouth twitched lightly.
She wasn’t some saint lady, and she knew Nina Sinclair wasn’t a good person.
But there was one thing she agreed with.
In this kind of setting, there was no need to get physical with Nina Sinclair.
Especially given Sean Bell’s status, doing something like that indeed was beneath him.
A disgrace.
"What did Ian say?"
"What could he say?" Silas Cheney pursed his lips, "In front of outsiders, no matter what, you still have to give your own people face."
Even if reprimanding, he couldn’t be reprimanded here.
That’s why he worried these two hadn’t returned for so long, Sean Bell was probably in for another beating.
"By the way, what’s up with you and Nina Sinclair today? Did she dress like that on purpose?"
Thea Lynch couldn’t very well throw Sean Bell under the bus, "Just a coincidence."
Speaking of intentions, it was Sean Bell’s problem.
This time Nina Sinclair was truly wronged.
"That’s good." Silas Cheney sighed with relief, "If Nina Sinclair had really done it on purpose, Ian wouldn’t be able to sit still."
"Hmm?"
"With today’s situation, the others will surely discuss it privately. You don’t care, but Ian can’t let you become the center of gossip."
"Previously, just that incident had Ian cancel Nina Sinclair’s show outright. Let alone this time."
Silas Cheney knowingly and unknowingly hinted to her, "There’s nothing between Ian and Nina Sinclair, never take it seriously, don’t hold it in your heart."
Upon hearing this, Thea Lynch raised her eyes, looking at him calmly and placidly.
Silas Cheney pursed his lips, "Alright, alright, I won’t say anymore."
"Don’t be mad. I told you earlier not to come with Sean Bell." Silas Cheney feared the matter with Nina Sinclair would cloud her heart.
"It’s fine." Thea Lynch supported her head with one hand, her gaze lazily passing over the probing gazes of some young gentlemen across her: "Haven’t attended such an occasion in so long, it’s quite interesting."
"Indeed."
Silas Cheney chuckled lightly, teasing, "You’ve been away for so long, everyone’s almost forgotten this ancestor of ours."
"By the way, today’s outfit is indeed beautiful, stealing the show. I estimate news of your attendance has already exploded within the circle."
"Ah, clearly can rely on looks to be the face of our Stratus, but insists on relying on ability."
"Since you brought it up, let’s get into business." Mentioning work, Thea Lynch instantly switched into serious mode, turning to scrutinize Silas Cheney.
Seeing her gaze, Silas Cheney’s mind raced, trying hard to recall recent company matters.
Seemingly hadn’t heard anything concerning Thea Lynch. The past week, everything seemed peaceful.
"Is Stratus preparing to enter the artificial intelligence robot market recently?"
"Oh, that." Silas Cheney pondered for a moment, unusually serious. "Actually, a few years ago, Stratus produced some low-end series of robots, winning by price, sold quite well at that time."
"Later, they focused all efforts on chip research, temporarily abandoning other product lines."
"Kind of transitioned to formally doing backstage work."
"But honestly, Stratus doesn’t plan to only do chips. We also hope to create our own complete industrial chain. Similar to Valiant?"
"Since we possess the latest chip technology, no matter what product we make, we’re ahead of some brands in the market. I think it’s advantageous, who wouldn’t want to make money. What do you think, sis?"
Silas Cheney normally seemed indifferent about work, but in reality, he always had his plans and arrangements from start to finish.
