Chapter 106 - 106

Fear of the God of Destruction was not a sign of cowardice. Even the primordial beings, Mikael and Azazil, feared this god, and his peers in the Abyss dared not make bold moves against him. The ancient and powerful old god was a being whose reputation spread far and wide—a reputation that carried his own destruction with it.

There were regions of both Heaven and Hell that were now uninhabitable, having become the domain of destruction. Several cities of the primordial gods had fallen victim to the aura of annihilation and had been erased from existence.

Even Hazard, who did not fully comprehend the deep terror of destruction, saw Mari's fearful expression—a being who, if he had counted correctly, had prostrated nearly a hundred times. After that, for an entire week of their journey, Mari had set aside her aggressive nature and become an obedient servant, which greatly surprised Hazard. Could his lie have had such a positive effect? Where was the revelation? Perhaps it had all been his imagination, or maybe it was the breath that had drawn him toward those carts, and he had simply chosen to narrate it that way. However, he was unsure of the truth of his lie. Perhaps he had not lied at all. And the only one who could determine that was the being who, while carrying five human females—and a mare that still, every ten seconds, pleaded for mercy from the God of Destruction—had the faintest smirk on his lips.

"You showed mercy by giving him this choice, Leon."

His eyes shifted to the side, but he could see that his words had found their intended target—far away, in the kingdom of his god. Leon, the son of the God of Destruction, had been watching Hazard before returning to his father and bowing. However, the God of Destruction paid little attention, as his eldest son had already taken similar actions several times in his quest to recruit powerful servants for his faction.

"The gods are emerging among these sprouts, and yet you gaze upon terror? You have never disappointed me..."

The God of Destruction, who was already aware of Hazard's fate, was surprised to see that even his son—despite Hazard being weaker than many other chosen ones—was keeping an eye on him. He encouraged his son's interest, as Leon, unlike himself, was unaware of what destiny had in store for Hazard.

In the Abyss, at the far end of the Hidden Death Plain, Hazard and the Mare Queen were flying through the air. The Mare Queen used her telekinetic magic to levitate five human women—two of whom were visibly pregnant. Before them loomed the massive silhouette of a building, its height immeasurable. It was a towering Gothic cathedral that left Hazard in awe. The top of the structure was nowhere in sight, and its vast expanse was beyond belief. Such a design, on such a scale—how many centuries and how many millions of beings had contributed to its construction?

A deep sense of dread filled him, but there was no time for that. Mari landed on the ground and turned to Hazard.

"No outsider is allowed to fly in the realm of the fallen angels."

Hazard scanned the distant surroundings and noticed that even some winged beings were walking on the ground. Clearly, an immense power enforced this rule, a force strong enough to dictate laws in a region of the Abyss. And the presence of such a colossal structure was proof of that.

Flight was a sign of nobility and prestige in all worlds, yet this domain refused to let outsiders flaunt such status.

Walking would certainly slow them down, and carrying five women made it even harder. Though all five appeared lifeless, the Abyss still sensed some strange connection flowing through them. But what was the nature of this connection? Could these five human women determine his future?

Days passed as they walked, encountering countless Abyssal beings—some of whom were considered lords or even legendary figures. Yet, Hazard admired the power and authority of the fallen angels. Unlike other regions of the Abyss he had seen in this short time, there was no chaos, conflict, or slaughter here. Peace and order reigned under a single ruling force. This place was the boundary that separated the Abyss's wild lands from its inner dominions.

His eyes constantly scanned his surroundings, searching for anything new, while he relied on magic to feed the five humans. However, this was a risky process, as Mari's dangerous mana could, with one mistake, turn these magicless humans into a bloody explosion.

His journey had been easier than expected, which puzzled him. This was a realm of powerful beings—he had anticipated some kind of event or confrontation. But things had not unfolded as he had thought.

Soon, they neared another territory. Though Hazard wished to explore the colossal structure, his priority was returning in time and preparing for the attack of the Star God. However, just as they were about to move forward, the dark, lightless structure behind them—commanding the surrounding space—became the site of a massive magical explosion.

"I knew it!"

That uneasy feeling that everything had been going too smoothly made him turn back to face the danger. But what he saw was beyond anything he had imagined.

A massive portal had opened in front of the cathedral, causing the surrounding space to crack as it resisted the portal's force. A colossal surge of magic struggled to keep the portal open—an enormous, glowing white gateway from which millions of beings with multiple white wings surged forth.

The attackers' objective was clear. Their immense strikes and the formation of radiant barriers to secure their foothold against the massive cathedral signaled their intent. At the same time, a crimson glow erupted from the dark cathedral, and a far greater number of beings with wings of black, gray, red, and purple soared outward to meet them.

The battle was of such magnitude that the very bones in Hazard's body trembled from a hundred kilometers away. Legends, myths, and divine powerhouses clashed, showcasing the might of the cathedral's defenders against the invading forces—unquestionably belonging to the faction of the Gods of Light, commanded by Heaven itself.

In less than a minute, thousands of legendary beings had already perished in the battle. The sheer magical force paralyzed Hazard, while Mari exerted every ounce of her power to shield him and the five women. This level of magic was lethal.

"We have to run, Undead!"

"You think I don't know that?!"

"We don't have much time—they'll be here soon!!"

Before he could finish his sentence, a new variable emerged in the ongoing battle. A hundred beings from both sides began appearing, casting spells that Hazard recognized.

"Divine Law..."

Amon had taught him and shown glimpses of the terrifying power of Divine Laws, but seeing hundreds of beings wielding them was something else entirely.

"Run!"

Hazard reinforced his body completely, even if it meant draining his mana. If the waves of Divine Laws reached them, Mari had little chance of survival—let alone him, who was a level lower and had even less mastery over his power.

On the battlefield, under the protection of their demigods, the armies of angels and fallen angels waged war.

Then, hundreds of smaller portals opened behind both sides, and incredibly radiant beings began to emerge.

On either side, two figures stood ahead of the rest, their blood-red eyes locked onto each other.

Mikael, with eighteen wings and an enormous sword in hand, his hundred-meter form radiating divine power, stood with a glowing halo behind him. Opposing him was Abaddon, the fallen angel of destruction, with sixteen violet wings and an extraordinary suit of armor displaying several collapsing worlds.

"Curse upon Heaven! You traitors have no place here!"

Mikael, gazing upon the fallen angels and those who had perished, recalled the past, golden tears falling from his eyes as he looked at Abaddon with a sorrowful expression, extending a hand toward him.

"It's not too late, brother. Return, and the Lord will forgive your sins!"

Abaddon laughed, his gaze shifting to the gods standing behind him.

"Forgive my sins? I have committed no sin—only fought for His cause! I destroyed for His will! And now, I lead these forsaken children toward a better future, away from the betrayal you inflicted upon them and me! Mikael, of all beings, you know who I was! What I did! You know!!"

Mikael continued to weep, but he unsheathed his sword, his divine eyes glowing as his golden hair turned white, his magic activating.

"The Lord commands it!"

Abaddon summoned his weapon, and the gods behind him did the same.

"He is dead to me!"

And with that, the wave of swords clashed.

"Forgive me!"
