Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 351: An Unfamiliar Alliance
Axel sent Jen a few more texts, but she didn’t respond to any of them.
A low groan escaped his lips.
That woman never listened to reason, she was seriously going to get herself in deep shit.
Though, he wasn’t one to talk. Not when he was sitting in the Captain’s chair and going through the classified files on his computer.
Ever since he found out Ethan had played a key role in the new Captain’s hire, Axel had kept his doubts close to his chest. He waited patiently for a chance to go through this, even if the opportunity he needed seemed bleak.
The Captain was both carefree and meticulous. He took bribes in broad daylight, but wiped his tracks so clean no one could trace them back.
With Dylan refusing to cooperate, and Brooke adamant on choosing the murder route, his chances were looking slim, he needed concrete evidence to get Ethan behind the slammer, for life preferably.
And the opportunity to go through the Captain’s folders, his ever so calculated plan of infiltrating his office and staging a convenient setup to copy the data had just one flaw.
Even if he could create the situation where the cameras in the hallway and the Captain’s office faultered for a bit, the Captain almost never left the station. And he was very particular about his office, he never let anyone in unsupervised, and he locked it up whenever he left too.
To Axel, it seemed easier to rob a bank than to spend a whole minute in the Captain’s office unprovoked.
Which was why, this once in a lifetime chance was one he caught with both hands.
Frankly speaking, no one could’ve anticipated that the head of the Grayson empire would make a trip to their city. Naturally, the Captain and other high ranking officers and some detectives even made their way to the airport, to greet him.
And in the mix of the chaos of trying to file out, Axel managed to slip the office key out of his coat, just before he stormed out of the station.
Placing his focus back on the screen, he pulled at his hairs at the amount of time still left on the conversion timer.
Since he didn’t have the time to look through them all, he searched Ethan’s name on the system and nothing came up.
But he knew better than to let that deter him.
He transferred the files, his eyes alternating between the screen and the security camera.
Please, don’t flash green.
Don’t fucking flash green.
He slipped into the security room, sweet talked the staff and even emptied his wallet on a "dinner break" meal, with a promise to watch over the cameras.
The security guards, didn’t think too much of it. More than half the station was cleared out to greet the guest, and the rest of the officers were out on night shifts.
Save for the janitorial staff, the place seemed desolate, not to mention Axel was a detective, no one would’ve expected him to turn off two cameras while they were out.
The restaurant the cops frequented was a good fifteen minutes drive away from the station, not the closest but the best one in the area. They also had a discount for the boys in blue, hence another reason why they catered to police officers more often.
Putting in the time they’d take for the to and fro trip, and the time spent on eating, he estimated forty minutes as the minimum time till they returned.
And he hoped to everything holy that night they wouldn’t decide to fuck quality and go for the food truck parked two minutes away from the station, that served the worst hotdogs to ever grace the planet.
"Come on...come on..." he bit his lips, beads of sweat forming across his neck.

"Sloane, what the hell is all this about? Why did you insist on coming here with me?" Edward interrogated the moment they were alone in the office.
She helped herself to a seat on the sofa, "Why? You don’t want anyone snooping around your office? Are you scared I’ll find something I shouldn’t?"
Yes.
Edward was painfully cautious of Sloane, out of everyone in the family, she was the one who managed to not only move Rowan out of the family house, but evade his mother’s iron fist.
No, she went head to head with Sophia whenever she could.
He discreetly made his way to his desk, and pulled out a canister of alcohol from his top drawer. "You never want to be anywhere near me." He leans against the table, his gaze trained on her hazel eyes, "So imagine my shock when you insist on coming here with me."
She replied, "I needed somewhere private to speak with you."
"We could’ve gone to the lounge-"
She inserted, "Somewhere less incriminating. I’m a married woman, y’know?" She flaunted the ring sitting on her finger.
Edward clenched his jaw. "And what was it you couldn’t say back at the house?" He ignored her little taunt, trying not to give her the satisfaction of still being able to get under his skin.
Even after all these years.
She drew a smile across her lips, "I’m here to strike a deal with you."
"A deal?"
"Better yet," she got up and snatched the canister out of his hand. "I’d like us to form a partnership, an alliance, or whatever you’d like to call it."
"I don’t quite think I follow." Just what was she playing at?
Sloane flat out said, "I have some information that would interest you. But in exchange for my silence," she leaned in closer, her breasts pressing against his arm, her scent flooding his nostrils. "I want in on whatever shady business you’re running."
Edward laughed. "You have an active imagination."
"I’m not a bloody idiot. You wouldn’t be this calm after William lost to Thane if you didn’t have a shadow business." She tightened her grip on the canister, "I want in on it." she rested a hand on his shoulder.
He slapped it away. "I don’t have the time to entertain your foolishness. Go back to your husband, that loser definitely has the time for your bullshit." He said, kicking her out.
Sloane scoffed. "I think he’s not the only Grayson son with time for my ’bullshit’, I think Malcolm would love to hear what I have to say about his future daughter-in-law."
"The Rosamund girl?" His eyes darkened. "What does she have to do with anything?"
Sloane pinched her chin, exposing a wide grin, "You have no idea."
