Demon Hunter and His Cabin-Chapter 1017 - 735: Recovery from Injuries_2
Chapter 1017: Chapter 735: Recovery from Injuries_2
In this situation, even with the help of the Hunter’s Cabin, Roger cannot erase the cultivation journey spanning hundreds or thousands of years.
Although he hasn’t reached his limit yet, Roger has recently felt a vague sense of insight.
After all, the energy level of the world he once belonged to is too low. If he doesn’t break free, the Fifth Tier might be the limit.
Reaching the Fourth Tier brought new functions, albeit simple, but Roger believed they were of great significance for him. What intrigued him even more was the possibility that if a faction’s power was strong enough...
It might even be able to teleport resources and Demon Hunters from different worlds. Would this mean that as the owner of all this, Roger could bypass that prying eye in the void?
That unknown oppression had always been like a thorn in his throat.
If this issue is not resolved, he would eventually be crushed to pieces by that terrifying grasp!
He was deeply convinced by something he once said to Sword Master Cold Crow, believing that he was similar to him, once a part of an immensely powerful entity.
However, Roger now had new thoughts. The vibrations in the Soul Realm, the gaze from the void, and the Hunter’s Cabin merging with his conscious soul made him somewhat worried.
All of this might only become clear to him after he completes the High Mountain Trial.
After the initial excitement, Chloe’s body quickly fell into fatigue. After sending her back to her room, Roger returned to the underground laboratory.
Sitting cross-legged, his eyes became hollow. He drew a symbol in the air, his lips moving slightly, transmitting a strange, short scale, and at the same time, Ox on the other end of the border received the message.
"Ox can only be a secret dark line; Chloe must be the one truly placed on the surface." Roger thought with a frown.
The changes in events and their interconnectedness made Roger re-evaluate his relationship with Chloe. His impression of the girl was excellent: resilient, intelligent, with some quirks but nothing serious.
Recently, the influence at the border showed signs of gradually spreading to the entire world. In Roger’s understanding, this world didn’t lack rampant monsters in the past.
The nobility, enjoying most of the rights and wealth of this world, did resolve some issues for the common people.
But with the current situation, nobles possessing Transcendent abilities can no longer control the kingdom’s situation. Their focus is entirely on the border, using lies to lure more people there.
In this deduction, it’s only a matter of time before complete chaos engulfs the kingdom.
The kingdom’s upper echelons surely know this, yet they still choose to turn a blind eye.
To Roger’s mind, if this isn’t arrogance, then it must be the last madness before death!
"This is indeed a rare opportunity."
"With proper guidance and trial, we’ll find a way for Chloe to enter the Third Phase quickly, so she can stand on her own and rapidly cultivate her power."
"Meanwhile, on the other side..."
Roger was pondering when the Hunter’s Cabin in his mind underwent a subtle change.
The main structure became more complete. The Four Great Sword Seals, including the unfinished Aden, integrated into it. In that moment, he felt as if he and the Hunter’s Cabin became one.
This didn’t mean he turned into a house; instead, it felt as if his entire being was extending outwards through the Hunter’s Cabin.
But what surrounded the cabin wasn’t birds and blooms, mountains and rivers.
It was crosshatched rules and the world’s origins.
He didn’t know how long passed, but when Roger came to, he found himself in total darkness, and restless footsteps echoed from the doorway.
The footsteps’ owner seemed anxious but dared not disturb Roger by opening the door.
"Emily, come in."
Emily entered the room with a lantern, the orange glow enveloping her graceful figure, her face filled with concern as she looked at Roger.
"How long has it been?"
"Two days."
"It must have been hard for you to keep Chloe at bay."
Emily lowered her head, "I’m sorry, sir. I only managed to hold her back for one night. The next day, Miss Chloe tried to forcibly open the door, but for some reason, she stopped when she touched the door panel."
Roger smiled but didn’t answer Emily’s question, though he had noticed that the eye-shaped mark he left on the door panel had dimmed a bit.
This was the power of the Axis Sword Seal, combining Axis’s allure with the World Serpent’s peculiarity.
But it was all worth it.
The upgrade of the Demon Hunter training base deepened Roger’s connection with Kaer Morhen, allowing him to endure the long wait and, in two days, repaired all of his soul injuries!
Now, although not fully integrated with his body, which prevents Roger from using most of his powers, the recovery of his soul injuries means that the powers belonging to the Hunter’s Cabin are reviving.
Roger’s soul is now restrained; although he’s in the Second Phase, his actual soul strength definitely belongs to the strongest of the Fourth Phase!
Now, if he wishes, he can complete the Awakening Spirit anytime and advance to the Third Phase.
As for what comes next, Roger hasn’t figured it out yet.
"Sir, I’ve prepared some fresh water for you, and..." Emily suddenly paused mid-sentence. In their time together, Roger was sure she’d caught on to some of his little secrets.
Like food.
When he first arrived in this world, Roger used to pretend, but recently, as his strength returned, he slowly dropped the pretense.
At least Emily is aware; since he came here, her new master had not drunk a drop of water or eaten a grain of rice.
"Not in a rush."
Roger waved his hand, sitting cross-legged, blending into the darkness, but his gaze seemed to penetrate everything straight into Emily’s heart.
"I asked you once if you wanted to change your fate?"
"So are you ready now?"
"This is the day I’ve been longing for every moment!"
Emily clenched her fist tightly.
"Good."
Silver patterns flashed at the corner of Roger’s eye, and Emily’s mind was drawn completely into it. The next moment, the same patterns appeared on her face.
"Take it all in carefully."
"A real illusion."
Roger brushed past Emily, and as he closed the door, his finger touched lightly, causing the eye-shaped mark on the door to flicker and become even more pronounced than before.
With the recovery of his soul injuries and the condensation of his mental consciousness, Roger’s previously cultivated Axis Sword Seal had made a breakthrough.
Axis’s power formed a real illusion in Emily’s mind, based on her perception and strength; the danger and intensity were just right.
It refined her will even more than some abilities in the Mist Forest, and more importantly, in a pure spiritual world, the concept of time is greatly diluted.
For Roger, perhaps it only seemed like one night passed.
But for Emily, it could be an entire lifetime.
"Hmm? Wait!"
"A man’s night and a woman’s lifetime..."
Somehow, that sounded off.
"Is it because the wounds are healing that my soul is a bit translucent?"
"I need to quickly find my body."
"Once Emily passes the trial, she’ll be able to assist Chloe in forming a branch of the faction."
"And now, Ox’s recommendation remains."
"Plus, his abilities need a bit of a buff."
The situation suddenly changed; the promotion of the Demon Hunter training base unexpectedly helped Roger heal his soul injuries, forcing him to use his abilities to temporarily alter the orders given to Ox.
As for crossing the border legitimately...
Given the current situation, even Ox found himself somewhat powerless, but Roger had long since planned this, not needing to utilize any transcendent powers.
The two countries sealed the border, making entry and exit extremely difficult, but this rule only applies to the living.
And what about Roger now?
His body was as dead as can be.
Three days later, after bidding farewell to the transformed Emily and guiding Chloe in making some decisions, Roger left the mansion, then crossed the border as a corpse, arriving on the other side of the barrier.
In the midnight gloom of the Silver Cup Tavern, in a damp, dark underground chamber, Roger met the grave-faced Ox.
"My lord, regarding the recommendation issue, I’ve encountered a bit of trouble."
