Demon Hunter and His Cabin-Chapter 149 - 149 Cursed Land
Chapter 149: Chapter 149 Cursed Land Chapter 149 -149 Cursed Land “Over here!”
“Quick, come this way!”
A woman’s voice came from afar.
The distance was somewhat great, and the voice wasn’t particularly clear.
By now, the fog had gradually thickened, and with Roger’s vision, he could see nothing even as he followed the sound.
“Is it a monster?”
“How did she find me?”
Startled, Roger couldn’t help but grip his weapon tightly.
The sudden changes on the streets, coupled with the unexpected fog, made him hesitate briefly, but Roger still ran toward the direction of the voice.
“Whether it’s a human or a ghost, one glance will tell.”
Unless it was the same colossal creature he encountered yesterday, Roger was fairly confident in his abilities against ordinary monsters.
Soon after he left his original spot, a blood-drenched monster appeared where he had just been.
The monster, with mouth agape, seemed to be sensing something, and then, with a leap, chased in the direction Roger had taken off.
Roger quickly heard the sound of something cutting through the air behind him. He turned abruptly, his Steel Sword sweeping horizontally.
Swish!
The sharp blade of the sword slashed a large gash in the creature’s body, which looked feral but lacked defense on its exterior, actually making it quite easy to deal with.
With that one swing, Roger had nearly cleaved the monster in two, its viscera and blood pattering down onto the ground.
If it had been yesterday, he would have tried to take some parts with him despite the disgust, but now with the support of the Hunter’s Cabin, he naturally did not care for the scattered flesh.
“Be careful!”
Just as he landed, the woman’s voice came again.
Roger turned hastily, his Steel Sword defensively at his side, creating a whirlwind of steel.
Croak, croak, croak!
Several cries in succession, and amidst the thickening fog, four or five of the same kind of monsters lunged out!
“If quality is lacking, they try to compensate with quantity, huh?”
Gripping his weapon firmly, Roger didn’t continue to entangle with these creatures, unsure of what other monsters might appear once the fog densified even more.
He pushed off with his feet and ran quickly toward the direction of the earlier voice.
By now, visibility was very low, and Roger could only charge forward, relying on memory. Behind him, several monsters roared as they followed.
“Over here!”
“Quick, get inside!”
Suddenly, someone in the nearby house opened a door. Roger could only see a vague figure beckoning him. He turned and chopped down an attacking monster, then used the recoil to leap over a fence and rush into the room.
Bang, bang!
The sound of the door slamming shut intertwined with the monsters’ impacts.
Upon entering the room, he immediately felt as if he was completely isolated from the outside world. Roger quickly got to his feet and looked toward the figure standing by the door.
“How can it be you?!”
His expression abruptly changed.
Just then, a soft click sounded behind him, a bullet being chambered, followed by a weak voice.
“Drop your weapon, and slowly turn around.”
Roger kept his gaze fixed on the girl in front of him, then raised his hands high.
“Is it Miss Ingmar?”
“I’m Henrik’s friend, Roger.”
“We met your daughter Hathaway at the bar and heard about this place. I never expected to end up here in such a daze.”
“Henrik?”
Hearing this familiar name, the woman behind him seemed to relax.
“Don’t be nervous; I mean no harm.”
Roger controlled his tone of voice, listening for cues that Ingmar might be hurt.
“I don’t know why, but when I woke up, I found myself here and at the same time lost contact with Henrik and Hathaway.”
Roger slowly turned around.
A pale-faced woman was leaning diagonally against the doorframe, her upper body wrapped in bands of cloth from torn clothes, with large patches of blood staining the fabric a blackish red.
If she wasn’t leaning against the doorframe, she could have collapsed at any moment.
From another room nearby, there came a stench of blood, and Roger saw the corpse of a monster. Clearly, these past few days, they had been surviving on these creatures.
However…

A hint of confusion flickered in Roger’s eyes as he looked at the woman standing by the door.
“Do you recognize me?”
The woman spoke.
“Veronica?”
Roger could hardly hide the surprise on his face, “How come you’re here?”
“Ingmar and I ended up in this godforsaken place, who knows what this is all about?!”
Veronica’s eyes were slightly red, her chest heaving violently. It was obvious that the experiences of the last few days had pushed her to her limit.
Roger didn’t show a hint of sympathy on his face, just stood there silently.
“If this is really you, then who is the woman we saw outside earlier?”
“What woman?”
Veronica raised her head, looking at Roger with confusion, but she soon realized something.
“You mean, there’s someone outside who looks exactly like me?!”
Roger took a half step back, his gaze sweeping over Veronica and Ingmar.
“Can someone explain this to me?”
Ingmar let out a weary sigh.
“It seems like the situation here has seeped into the outside world, a monster has left this place and gone into reality.”
“The real world?”
“Then what is this place?”
Roger pressed.
“It looks like Henrik didn’t tell you; I don’t blame him. Even among the Demon Hunters, there are few who understand the Cursed Land.”
“The place we’re in now is also real, only, it’s not our reality.”
“We call such places Cursed Lands.”
“How Cursed Lands are formed, as well as their operational mechanics, are still not clear, but the emergence of each Cursed Land, if not handled properly, can lead to widespread infiltration events.”
“Terrifying monsters entering reality can bring great disasters to the local area!”
“What’s more troublesome is that each Cursed Land operates by a set of rules internal to itself, completely different from the outside world. I think, this is something you’ve probably experienced deeply.”
Roger nodded.
The sudden dense fog, the twisted streets, and houses that seemed close at hand but couldn’t be touched.
Everything here was just too strange.
“At first, I thought it was all a dream.”
“A dream?”
Ingmar gave a weak smile.
“If only it were a dream.”
After some conversation, she began to tentatively believe Roger’s words, and after ensuring their safety, she put away her gun and slowly sat down on the couch.
“I have some food here.”
Roger took out some compressed biscuits and water from his backpack and handed them over, along with some antibiotics.
“You actually prepared this much stuff?”
Ingmar’s eyes lit up, “That’s great, with these supplies, we can hold out for a few more days.”
“Can you tell me in detail about Hathaway and the others?”
Although very agitated inside, Ingmar showed concern for her daughter only after ensuring it was safe.
She was a qualified Demon Hunter, at least she knew how to control her emotions.
